“Ooh how does this one sound? Three bedrooms, two with en-suites, large kitchen and dining room, lounge looks pretty big and there’s plenty of storage,” Wilson said to House as he scrolled through his phone in the passenger seat of House’s car, “and it’s near a good school.”
”The baby’s not even born yet and you’re already worrying about where they’re going to go to school?” House commented.
”When you’re looking for a new house to grow your family in you take these things into consideration,” Wilson told him.
”Yeah, but our surrogate is only at 20 weeks,” House countered.
”Her name’s Lilly, and that’s halfway House,” Wilson said, “our son or daughter will be here before we know it.”
”Is the price range for this house within our budget?” House asked.
”Quite a bit under actually,” Wilson replied, “which gives us plenty left over to decorate the nursery.”
”Ok but wether we have a boy or a girl we’re painting the nursery blue,” the older man said.
”Yes I know,” Wilson agreed, “you want the walls to match your eyes,” he teased.
”But you always tell me I have such beautiful eyes,” House replied, facing his partner and fluttering his eyelashes. Wilson grinned at him before turning to look out of his window.
”Look out!” He shouted but his warning came too late as a car drove through a red light and straight into the side of the car. The two men were thrown around in their seats as the car rolled a few times before smashing into a lamppost. House opened his eyes, vision slightly blurred from the blood that had gotten into his eyes. He looked around at the broken glass surrounding him, trying to get his eyes to focus, when he realised that he was currently sitting upside down. He felt around for the buckle to his seatbelt before releasing it and dropping slightly onto the roof. He caught a glimpse of his cane and used it to break through what was left of the windshield and crawled out. House struggled to his feet, his ears were ringing and he could feel blood trickling down his face, he was disoriented and almost fell over a couple of times as he stumbled around unsure of what was going on. He could see the car that had hit them still in the middle of the intersection, the driver seemed mostly unharmed and if House hadn’t just crawled out of the wreckage that was his car then he’d have seen to it that the other guy got what was coming to him for crashing into them. Wait a second. Them. There was two of them in the car. House quickly spun around and caught sight of his car laying upside down. He limped over and dropped to the floor next to the passenger side.
”Wilson!” He called out when he saw the man strapped into his chair, unconscious. He put an arm through the window and pressed it against his neck, his pulse was weak but it was there and House sighed in relief, “Wilson,” he said again, trying to wake him up, “James, please, talk to me,” he tried, tears starting to fill his eyes. He could hear the sound of ambulance sirens now mixed into the ringing that was still filling his ears. He looked around and spotted the source of the noise, waving them over and praying to a god he didn’t believe in that James Wilson would be ok.

“House,” Wilson grumbled, his voice barely coming through, “House!” He called out louder.
”I’m here,” House said, voice coming from next to him. He felt someone touch his face, thumbs pushing at his eye lids, “can you follow the light?” House asked as his face swam into view.
”Sure but something’s wrong,” Wilson replied.
”What do you mean?” House questioned.
”I mean, everything is black and white,” Wilson told him, voice shaky, “House, I can’t see any colour,” he saw House drop the tourch onto the table near him before the bed dipped under the weight of House sitting on it.
”I’m sure it’s nothing,” House told him, “I’m sure it will come back,” he tried to sound reassuring but his voice gave him away.
”You don’t sound too sure,” Wilson commented.
”I’m going to get Foreman to come take a look at you,” House said, leaving the room to find the doctor.

House sat in the waiting room as Wilson went for tests, he tapped his foot restlessly as he looked ahead at the people passing in the corridor. He stopped tapping when he saw a man walking past. House got up and limped out of the room.
”Hey!” He shouted, causing the man to turn around, “you’re the guy who crashed into us!” The guy looked panicked as House got closer.
”Hey, look man I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention and missed the light, I just-“ he was cut off from his rambling as House’s fist connected with the side of his head. The man dropped to the floor and House dropped down on top of him, landing a few more blows to his face before he was pulled off by various doctors.
”You should be the one laying in a hospital bed!” House yelled as the man was helped to his feet, House went for him again when Foreman stepped in front of him.
”Let it go House,” he said.
“Aren’t you supposed to be with Wilson?” House asked.
“The tests are done, you can come see him again.”

House found himself standing in front of Cuddy in her office later that day.
”I hear you punched a patient?” Cuddy asked.
”Technically he was no longer a patient, he had been discharged,” House replied.
”That doesn’t make it any better,” Cuddy said.
”Relax he won’t press charges,” House assured her.
”And how do you know that?” Cuddy asked.
”Because he was high, which is why he didn’t stop at the red light and instead hit my car, his reaction time was slowed.”
”Did you look in his files?” Cuddy queried.
”That’s not important, what’s important is that he’s probably going to go to prison, he won’t press charges.”
”Well stay away from him from now on,” Cuddy warned him, he went to leave when she spoke again, “how’s Wilson?” She asked.
“Monochromatic,” House replied and she raised an eyebrow, “he can only see in black and white,” he explained, “Foreman took a look at him and apparently part of his brain had swelled which is what’s causing the symptoms, he’s been put on medication to reduce the swelling and should be back to normal soon.”
”I’m glad to hear that, I’ll come and see him in a little while,” she replied.
”I’ll let him know,” House told her before leaving the room.

Wilson opened his eyes and looked over at House who was sleeping in the chair next to him, one hand laying by his side on the bed. Wilson moved his hand and took hold of House’s, causing the other man to stir.
”Hey,” House muttered as he sat up and rubbed at his eyes.
”Hey,” Wilson replied, smiling slightly at his partner, “have I ever told you how beautiful your eyes are when you wake up?”
”Probably, but I’m happy to hear it again,” House grinned, leaning forward and giving Wilson a kiss.
”They’re such a lovely shade of blue,” Wilson commented and House gave him a surprised look.
”You can see that they’re blue?” He asked, Wilson smiled wider.
”I can,” he replied, “I can see colours again.”
”See I told you they would come back,” House said, giving Wilson another kiss, “also I called up about that house, we get the keys next week,” Wilson was delighted by this news and he and House spent the rest of the day making plans for their future.
