Thunk…

Clank…

A rhythmic beat of metal being shaped and sharpened in the shop below woke Morgan up. She groaned as the sunlight pouring in made it near impossible to fall back asleep. Getting ready for the day and weaving around the various inventions that littered the floor, she made her way downstairs walking quietly, hoping to not attract attention from the rest of her family.

Unfortunately it seemed, the morning was not on her side.

“Ah good morning Morgan!” A jovial voice called out.

Morgan tensed at the sound of her brother's voice, sighing as she grumbled under her breath. “Why did it have to be you.”

Turning around, Morgan gave Chad a flat look.

“What.” She said in a clipped tone.

“Now sister, no need for such hostility! I merely came to ask if you wish to come to the Fair this afternoon. It’s rumored that they have scales on sale after all!”

He called out, making Morgan wish he could be a little quieter if not shut up.

“Fine.” She ground out, Knowing he would be overly obnoxious until she gave in. Plus she had been waiting for them to be on sale. She might as well take advantage of the opportunity.

“But we’re splitting up once we get there. Got it?” Morgan asked sharply.

“Of course sister! Whatever you say.” He cheered out.

Morgan sighed heavily at that, really hoping she wouldn’t regret it.

The town bustled around the siblings as they worked on the Fair preparations. Weaving their way through the crowd, Morgan glanced at her list of things she needed.

“Let’s see… Gotta stop by Gus’s for wood, then to Karen’s for the scales…”

She mumbled out, absentmindedly making her way through town. Not paying attention, she bumped into the sign board that marked the center of town. Startled out of focus, she looked at the posters on the board. There were the usual help posters, a couple wanted posters, one which caught her eye.

“Alex huh? I think you will make me very rich.”

She smiled sharply, eyes glinting at the bold 1,000,000 that adorned the poster. Tearing it down and shoving it in her satchel, she switched directions with a different course in mind.

In a near distant forest, often cautioned to stay away from due to a certain inhabitant, a dragon sneezed lighting up the bushes and grass around it. Lifting his head to look around he grumbled out, scaring the local wildlife.

“Why do I have a feeling that things are gonna go haywire very soon.” He asked with narrowed eyes.

“Oh well, not my problem yet.” Alex said, closing his eyes to go back to sleep.
