Work Text:

From the kitchen, Alex could hear Morgan sign again from the couch. Alex turns his eyes skyward as he turns from the stove.
"Morgan, I know you don't like it, but you broke your leg. That means while it heals, you can't put unnecessary weight on it right now." Morgan tells him, pulling plates from the cupboard. As he fills the plates with food, he hears Morgan sigh again. Alex shakes his head as he walks over to Morgan with the freshly made food. AS Morgan comes into full view, Alex sees the scowl can crossed arms Morgan is sporting. "Here is your lunch," Alex says, holding the plate out to Morgan. Morgan looks at Alex, and a small smile works its way onto his face.
"Thank you," Morgan tells him while grabbing the plate. Alex smiles back and kisses his head, then sits next to him. They sit in silence while they eat what Alex has made. "You know," Morgan starts when he is almost done, "There's a new game on Steam. I've wanted to play it but never got around to it." Alex looks at Morgan with a knowing look.
"And I am guessing you want to play it now?" Alex asks him while he takes the plates to the sink. Morgan's eyes follow him as he moves.
"It would keep me off my feet while I do something I want to do." Morgan smiles, knowing he is going to win. He sees Alex nod in agreement as he turns back to Morgan.
"It would. I am also guessing that since you are telling me this, you want me to play with you?" Alex asks, drying his hands on a towel. Morgan simply smiles back in response.

Alex snaps his fingers, and Morgan and Alex appear in Alex's gaming room in his lair. They each have their own computers with top-of-the-line equipment. Morgan cheers while he turns on his computer. Alex runs his hand through Morgan's hair before taking a seat at his own computer.
"So, what is the name of this game?" Alex asks as he boots up Steam.
"Valheim. We play as Vikings who have died and are going through purgatory while proving our worth. It's an early-access exploration and survival game." Morgan replies excitedly. Alex nods, searching for the game to download.
"While this is downloading, I will get us something to drink." Alex stands and walks out. Morgan is looking through more write-ups for the game. Alex knows what he likes, so he knows he'll get what he likes. Morgan smiles to himself, thinking back to when Alex first brought him coffee. Morgan was sort of lying when he said that he would fall in love with Alex if he kept bringing him coffee; he already had fallen for him. However, when Alex got upset that he had been trying to get Morgan to like him for a while, Morgan couldn't help but start laughing after he got over the shock. Morgan thought that it was hilarious that Alex got mad thinking bringing him coffee made it just that easy.

"What are you thinking about with that smile?" Alex's voice knocked Morgan from his thoughts. Morgan accepted his coffee mug with a bigger smile.
"The first time you brought me coffee." Morgan then proceeded to take a big drink from his mug and hummed.
"Ah, yes." Alex nods, remembering himself. "That was a day." Alex turns more to Morgan and places his hand on the back of his neck, and plays with the hair at the base of Morgan's skull. Morgan leans into the hand with a smile. They mostly stay like that during the downloads. They part with a kiss once the games are ready to play. Starting up the game and customing their characters goes by quite quickly; making a game and starting the gameplay quickly follows.

The game starts with a Valkyre carrying your character for a while. Then you are dropped on a flat stone surrounded by taller stones with depictions of the bosses. A crow is your guide throughout the game. After going through the basic tutorial-like first steps of the game, they are able to explore even more.
"What do you know about Vikings anyway?" Alex asked suddenly.
"Probably just the basic knowledge, I would assume," Morgan said, shrugging while he chopped down a tree in-game. He was building them a house while Alex was gathering food.
"Then why did you want to play this game?" Alex asked while chasing after a boar.
"Well, apart from it looking fun, I wanted to see what part of Viking culture they were making a game about. They are a little interesting, Vikings, that is." Morgan tells him, sounding a little distracted while building. "Mainly the community aspect of them. It sounds nice to have while families work together to work together and keep their settlements running." Alex stopped playing and looked over at Morgan.
"I know your family is shit. However, you are always welcome to mine." Alex said, leaning over and running a hand over Morgan's arm. Morgan turned to him with a smile.
"I know; that's why I took your name, so your family is mine." Morgan winked at him, letting him know that wasn't the only reason he took Alex's name. Alex laughed, with Morgan joining after a beat. "Expect for those few months where you had mine." As Morgan finished his sentence, Alex's laughter got worse.
"That was great!" Alex said through laughs covering his eyes.
"No, what is great is that even though we are both back to your maiden name, your villain name still has mine," Morgan says with a chuckle.
"And I will continue to do so until you tell me otherwise," Alex says, wiping tears from his eyes.
"I don't think I will tell you otherwise for a while. Now come help me build this house." Morgan told him, kissing his hand and turning back to the game. Alex also turned back to the game.
"Alright, what do you need?" Alex asked.
"More wood and a decent amount too," Morgan answered, looking at the outline of the house he made already.

They continue to play into the evening, only pausing to eat dinner. They chose to stop after they defeat the first boss, Eikthyr. Morgan smiles as he saves the game and shuts down the program.
"That was really fun. I might not mind being off my feet if I keep playing this." Morgan says while stretching. Alex watches him with a soft smile.
"Good, that means you won't fight me about you being off your feet." Alex laughs. Morgan looks at him with a flat look, making Alex laugh longer. Morgan holds his arms up toward Alex. Alex stops laughing and picks him up. "Ready for bed?" Morgan nods, resting his head on Alex's shoulder. Alex walks them to their bedroom and lays Morgan on their bed, and starts changing their clothes. Once they are changed and snuggling under the covers, Morgan starts to speak.
"Thank you for playing with me today." Morgan kisses the part of Alex's chest his head is resting on.
"I will always play with you," Alex responds with a leer in his tone. Morgan sighs and shakes his head.
"I am being serious," Morgan tells him.
"Oh, so am I," Alex answers with a smirk.
"What am I going to do with you?" Morgan asks with a laugh. Alex turns his head up and kisses him.
"Love me," Alex tells him when they part.
"I can do that," Morgan says with a smile. They slip into the dream world shortly after, and if they dream, they are Vikings with a big family, that is just for their unconsciousness.
