Work Text:
“Mei, I’m bored! Let’s go hang out!” Kiana whined.
“Not right now, I’m studying.” Mei whispered. “You should probably do the same.”
It had been a few months since Kiana, Mei, and Bronya first enrolled at St. Freya. The next day, they would be taking their first-ever Valkyrie exams. Bronya had studied for a few days, and felt that it was sufficient. Kiana studied for about half an hour, got bored, and decided to play video games.
Mei had been studying for two weeks straight.
“But you’re always studying! I just want to do something fun!” Kiana groaned.
“And we will, after exams are finished.”
“But I want to hang out now!”
Mei winced. “I’m studying. Your aunt said the exams were going to be much more difficult then anything we’ve done before.”
Kiana sighed. “Mei, you’ve studied enough. The only way you could possibly fail is if they changed the exam entirely. And when was the last time you took some time to relax?”
“Ummm… one, no, two weeks ago.”
Kiana stared at Mei.
“I see your point.” Mei sighed. “I guess one day couldn’t hurt.”
“Hooray!” Kiana cheered.
“Kiana! We’re in a library!”
The two girls had quite a nice day out. Since the two didn’t really have a plan, they ended up walking around Soukai City to see what it had to offer.
The day was almost over, and the two of them were walking back to St. Freya through the shopping district. On the way there, however, Kiana stopped and looked through a window.
“What is it, Kiana?” Mei looked through the same window, and saw nothing but pottery.
Kiana pointed to a flower vase with black and white stripes. “It’s really pretty. I can’t put my finger on why, but it just is.”
“Do you want it?” Mei asked.
“Wait, seriously? You’ll get it for me?”
“Why not? It doesn’t look too expensive.”
“Thank you so much, Mei! You’re the best girlfriend ever!”
Mei blushed. “G-Girlfriend? You mean, like… a r-romantic partner?”
“Well, we are dating, aren’t we?” Kiana’s smile slowly faded. “Aren’t we?”
The two of them had gotten very close, and Mei was no stranger to Kiana’s praise. But she had always assumed that they were just close friends, and that Kiana was just nice.
“I… never really gave it any thought. But… yes, I suppose we are unofficially dating.”
“Are you… okay with that?” Kiana asked.
“Well, why don’t we make it official with this vase?”
“Thank you so much, Mei! I love you forever and ever!” Kiana cheered, kissing Mei on the cheek.
Mei’s face was tomato colored for a few hours after that.
