Paldea Awaits

Notes:

This is just a cute little drabble I wrote to signify the new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games releasing November 18th.

Introducing:

Masha Redwood, 29 years old. She was born in Pallet Town, Kanto and has been journeying through many different regions since she was 12 years old. She is an experienced trainer with many Championships and many more Pokemon under her belt.

Professor Kit Redwood, 29 years old. Born in Littleroot Town, Hoenn, Kit was studying under the tutelage of Professor Birch before she met Masha and the two fell in love. She became a full certified Pokemon Professor when she was 20 and her fields of study is the Pokemon species and the habitats in which they live. (Birch and Oak are her idols okay)

I haven't ever put any of my Pokemon fics and stuff on A03 and I just wanted to put this one because I liked how it turned out!

Isle of Armour - Galar Region | Wednesday | November, 16, 2022

The sun was shining down brightly and the wind was a pleasant breeze. Masha Redwood sat in the sand, head tilted back and eyes closed, enjoying the breeze and the sun. Her Pokemon were sprawled out all around her in various states of relaxation. However, she did not sit alone. Beside her sat another woman, clad in the familiar lab coat of a Pokemon Professor and she was. Her name was Professor Kit Redwood and she focused on a mixture of both the Pokemon species and the habitats in which they live.

“Say Masha, do you remember Sada?”

Masha tilted her head, cracking her eyes open enough to look at her wife then off in the distance as she thought about the person she was asked about.

“Isn’t she that old friend from college, the one that stopped by the ranch a couple times?” Masha questioned after a few moments of recollecting.

Kit nodded in affirmation and Masha further asked, “What about her?”

“Well.” Kit started and Masha gave her wife her full attention. Knowing that tone in her voice well by now. “You know she is one of the leading Professors at Naranja Academy in Paldea.”

“You’ve mentioned it, yes.” Masha nodded, her lips quirking just slightly as she tried not to smile.

“I’ve recently received an email from her and she wants us to come visit. There is a seminar on Pokemon species that she thinks I may find interesting.” Kit explained with an almost sheepish grin.

“Is that so?” Masha lifted a bow, amused. She knew where this was leading and it was almost too easy to predict Kit’s next words.

Kit nodded, “Sada also said the Paldea region was a very diverse place filled to the brim with Pokemon species we haven't met before.” Enticing.

Masha hummed, flicking her gaze back to stare out over the open sea. Galar had been a nice region where Masha could unwind and relax and just do what she loved to do, which was raise and battle Pokemon. And she had risen quite a formidable team - her victory in the tournament a few months back proved. The Isle of Armour and Crown Tundra had also been a nice challenge for her skills and she had enjoyed conquering the wilderness that they brought.

She wouldn’t be opposed to a new adventure. She knew Kit loved seminars and while she, herself, didn’t care much for them, she would do whatever Kit wanted.

Knowing she had her, Kit mentioned, “I also may have asked Sada to see if the Academy could arrange it to where you could receive a Pokemon that normally only registered students are allowed to have and have heard back some positive news.”

Masha heaved out a sigh and let her head fall back. “I would need to find arrangements for our teams here in Galar. We would need to pack. Also would need to get me registered as a trainer and you registered as a Professor in Paldea.” She listed off casually.

“Arrangements have been made, Professor Magnolia has agreed to house our Pokemon at her home. She said it would be nice to have some Pokemon around to help her. Professor Sonia could also use their help as well in her research. Packing won’t take no time at all and I’ve already submitted our credentials over to the Paldean League. You’ve been registered as an Ace Trainer and myself as a visiting Pokemon Professor.” Kit informed and Masha expected no less from her wife.

It hadn’t escaped her that Kit had been more upbeat the last couple weeks and she had chalked it to some kind of breakthrough with her research. So to speak, that was technically true because now she would be able to further it.

“You seem excited.” Masha commented, watching with amusement as a blush rose to Kit’s cheeks.

“Aren’t you?” Kit fired back, “Galar has been fun and your little trip back in time to ancient Sinnoh had sounded like fun.” Masha groaned at the mention of the latter.

She would happily forget the stunt that Dialga had pulled. Throwing her back in time to prevent a disaster with absolutely no explanation of the matter. That oversized dragon got a piece of her mind when they met back up later in that time period. It was only after it explained how dire the situation was that Masha's anger faded and she agreed to help. Saving the world once again.

“Don’t remind me,” Masha grumbled half-heartedly and let Kit bump her shoulder playfully.

A new region and a new adventure would be fun. A fresh start and a chance to build her reputation even more. Also, above all else, it would make Kit happy and Masha is all about making that happen.

“I do suppose it is time to change things up.” Masha hummed, “When do we leave?”

“Tomorrow.”

Masha pushed herself to her feet and held her hand out for Kit. She was smiling, “Better start getting things ready and saying our goodbyes then wouldn’t you say?”

Kit intertwined their fingers when she too stood. There was a giddiness to her voice and a smile on her face when she said.

“Yes, let's.”
