Owl House: Reign of the Pumpkin King

Summary:

Eda has loved Halloween for the longest time, but one mystery has constantly evaded her year after year. Who is the mysterious Pumpkin King that others in the Boiling Isles have claimed to have seen? This being that others claim to be the most frightening there is, and even better at frights and pranks than the Owl Lady herself!? Eda's determined to find out, and with the special holiday right around the corner, she prepares to search once more, and this time with some help. However, one must be careful what they wish for as Luz mysteriously disappears during the search...

Notes:

I thought this would be a fun idea for a story but let me know what you think!

This prologue is narrated by Eda.

Chapter 1: Prologue: Legend of the Pumpkin King

Chapter Text

Alright, kids, let me tell you a little story.

Now, from what Luz tells me, both the Human world and the Boiling Isles share similar holidays. No idea why, but who cares when Halloween is one of those holidays?! Ha! Not me. I've kinda got a reputation for being more chaotic that usual during those days. I'm not gonna turn down the perfect opportunity to scare someone and actually get away with it! However, I will admit, this is one of the very few times I actually have some...competition.

Ok, so for context, every year on Halloween, the Isles are visited by a very odd group who claim to be from some place called "Halloween Town". Don't ask me where that is, not even my book-nerd of a sister knows. Anyways, these folks come to make Halloween all the more frightening (and fun, for me at least). Now, don't get me wrong, I happily join in (again, scaring and mischief, how can I not join)? But there is one who just...I can't explain it, but he does it so...so...perfectly! Even better than me!

So, who is this guy? Well, the Halloween Town folks call him, "The Pumpkin King". He's apparently the scariest one in their town and is, fittingly, their leader. Personally, I've never seen the guy, and I've looked for him every year, even when I was a kid (well, before the whole curse nonsense happened). All I ever got were some people either laughing or scared out of their wits because they had been on the receiving end of his scares. They say he's nice enough, and I'll admit, the things I've seen him be the cause of...it's pretty awesome. I just want to know: how does he do it? What makes him worthy of his title "Pumpkin King"?

I intend to find out, and with Halloween right around the corner, oh you better believe I'm getting ready. I'm gonna find this guy, and I'm gonna see just how good and frightening this "Pumpkin King" really is...
