Fate Misalignment

Summary:

Being a (nearly) immortal celestial being, Aster Arcadia had to watch every person he met, and love vanishes in front of his own eyes.

Reincarnation to reincarnation of Luca Kaneshiro, Aster just can’t get the timing right and is always left broken to pieces every time he was rejected.

I changed some minor (major? idk lmao) scenes on Selen’s prompt, I’m sorry :(

Notes:

idk, i just want to join selen’s fanfic brainstorming lmaoo, enjoy!

kinda rushed since I really want to post this sooner, so it might not suit your taste for a wonderful ending.

Work Text:

Frozen on his spot, Aster’s vision started to blur as he stared at those wisteria coloured eyes, staring back at him with confusion plastered on his handsome face. After years, and years of seeking for the person who was full of warmth, he finally found him.

Sure, Luca might not even recognise him, but he will sure try his best to make him remember their bittersweet memories of the past they made. Those smiles, and tears they both shared.

Lost in thought, Luca pulled Aster back to reality, slightly tapping his shoulder. Worried eyes shone against his, as Luca tried his best to comfort him. He lead Aster to the nearest bench, and made him sit there. The dual tone-haired man tried to wipe his tears, every now and then, but it still kept on falling. After succeeding in finding for his handkerchief, Luca handed the piece of clothing to Aster, with a gentle smile on his face.

“Here, pretty people like you shouldn’t shed tears.” Aster was taken aback of what Luca had just said. It was familiar. Too familiar. After awhile, he accepted the handkerchief, and gently wiped his cheeks, and looked back to Luca, hesitating if he should give back the used handkerchief, or should just buy him a new one, considering he already used it. Aster thinking for a while, Luca promptly got up as he looked at his watch. “Uh,” he paused, forgetting to ask the other’s name.

'Oh, he still can’t remember me, nothing new.' Aster just smiled, “Aster. Aster Arcadia.” Upon hearing his name, Luca’s chest ached for no reason, yet he just shrugged it off. “Aster, I need to go. My date is waiting for me, and I hope you feel better.” Hearing what the blonde just said, Aster’s mood dropped, but swiftly hid it behind a bright smile. “Oh, sure, but what about—”

Before he could finish, Luca cut him off, “you can keep that, if you want! I’m really sorry, I can’t stay with you here for long.” He said, pertaining to the handkerchief, and ran away. Behind him was Aster, glaring into nothing. 'A date, you say?' He clenched his fist, and walked away.

Yes, it wasn’t the first time the blonde has been reincarnated. He has lost count of how many times he had seen his life, after life. How he lived, reject him, and die. But this whole dating, it’s a new thing.

Luca Kaneshiro’s First Life

It was a cold, winter morning. Snow falling from the skies, as two lovers enjoyed the peaceful aura inside their cozy house, preparing for Christmas. A comfortable silence occupied their home, as the both of them were too busy with their work.

Luca was busy decorating the massive Christmas tree inside their living room, and Aster was cooking their dinner in the kitchen. It was the first Christmas they shared in their new house, and the fifth as lovers. People tend to ask if they’re not boring each other, since it was half a decade since the dated, but honestly? They wouldn’t trade it for the whole world. They are contented with each other.

“Luca, dinner’s ready!” Aster shouted, loud enough for Luca to hear, who immediately sprung out of his seat, dashing to the dining room. There, he saw a table perfectly designed as if they are dining in a five star hotel. “Damn, my husband sure is talented. Look at this table! It’s very pog!” Aster couldn’t help but chuckle at the other’s antics.

He lead Luca to his seat, and sat on the opposite end of the table, and Aster began to put food on their plates. A small prayer can be heard from them, before they started eating. “Wow, these are so good!” Luca dramatically said, but in full honesty. Aster’s cooking never failed to impress him.

Aster just shook his head, “whatever you say, darling.”

Teardrops pouring like rain down Aster’s face, as he holds Luca’s arms. Luca’s weak shaking hands made way to his cheeks, and wiped the tears that streams down. The blonde gave him a weak, yet beautiful smile. “Stop crying, my love. Pretty people like you shouldn’t shed tears.”

Aster couldn’t help but cry. I mean, who wouldn’t? Seeing your husband, best friend, soulmate… your everything frail, and bedridden. God knows how much Aster wanted to take the other’s pain away, but the thing was he can’t. He can’t.

For how much he prayed and hoped, nothing could save Luca for he has grew weaker, and weaker each day as of old age. If only he could give his (nearly) immortality to the man he loved dearly, he would! Without hesitancy.

Luca soothingly caressed his cheeks, as he held Luca’s hand closer to him. “Hey, baby. Stop crying.” A raspy voice of Luca can be heard inside the room. Despite his arms stinging in pain, he remained his hands on Aster’s cheek, wiping the tears away.

“Sorry, I have to leave you this way. But that’s how the world works…” Luca threw a fit cough, however did it not stop him from speaking. “It might be cruel as time passes, but I’m sure you’ll find your happiness.

If ever, you did not. As clock works, life will remain on this world, and I will be reincarnated. I’m sure I will! And we will make new beautiful memories in that lifetime, and the next, and the next. Don’t anger the fate for doing this to us, for it is also the reason why we met. Just, don’t forget… I love you, Aster… my love.” Luca’s arms fell lifeless on his deathbed, as Aster let out a loud painful sob.

“I love you, too. I’ll be waiting for you until your next lifetime, and the next, and the next.” Pain clearly audible in Aster’s voice as he spoke a promise. “We will rewrite our story, once again, my Luca. I promise you that.”

Aster found himself in sitting inside a five star restaurant, alone, looking at two certain people enjoying their dinner date. A normal person would actually think how sweet the two are, and could mistake them as a couple, but Aster refuses to believe that bullshit. Luca isn’t dating anyone. Even if he doesn’t remember him, his heart still belongs to him.

Those words replayed inside Aster’s mind as if it was a chant for preventing an evil curse to wreak havoc in a peaceful village. Any sane person would think Aster was fuming mad, for his date had ditch him for indefinite reasons, because of how he was gripping the table knife, and how mad his eyes glows, but even so, people who looks at him would definitely be shaking in fear.

His whole aura is literally screaming murder, at this point.

He was looking intensely at Luca, and his so-called date. 'He isn’t even that pretty.' Aster said in his mind. He was able to calm himself, letting the date entertain Luca, unless he would touch him, and everything will be all hell broke loose. A few chuckles, and exchanging of words can be heard by the two of them, when the date reached out to Luca’s cheek, wiping something, and oh boy!

Warning! Mentions of murder, and blood!

Aster angrily stood up his seat, and stormed towards Luca’s table. As he reached the table, he dragged Luca’s date out of the restaurant by his hair, alarming everyone but immediately looked away as they saw Aster’s glare at them. Luca worriedly followed them, trying to stop Aster, but it’s no use. He was far too strong for normal human beings.

Aster dragged Luca’s date to a secluded area, and slammed the man’s head on the wall, again and again. Making sure the other was dead, Aster let go of the man as he fell lifeless on the dirt, as blood scattered on the ground, wall, and Aster’s jacket. He took off the clothing, and threw it away, disposing the evidence.

Trigger warning, no more.

Aster shook his hands, as if he didn’t do something and turned around, only to see Luca staring at him in shock, and fear. Luca was about to runaway, but he pulled Luca into a tight hug. “Ahh~! It’s good to have you back in my arms, again.”

Luca just looked at him in fear, as if he had grew two more heads, and started to wriggle out of Aster’s embrace. “Please, let go of me. You’re scaring me.”

Luca Kaneshiro‘s Second Life

An elementary Luca was staring at Aster who has been following him since earlier. He thought it was nothing, but the guy just won’t stop following him. He’s been taking turns, after turns, walking in a circle yet the other won’t just stop. He had no choice but to run.

Luca started to run, but to his surprise, Aster was now on his tail. Not after a minute, Aster was holding Luca’s cheeks, kneeling in front of the kid. He gave him a soft smile, silently saying he won’t hurt him. He gently caressed the boy’s cheeks, as his tears started streaming down his face.

“Is that really you, Luca?” Upon hearing his name, Luca’s back straightened in fear, trying to move his head away from Aster’s touch. “Please, let me go. You’re scaring me.” Luca whimpered in fear, as Aster’s body stiffened.

“You… You’re scared of me?” Aster wiped his tears, and stood up, replaying what had happened in his mind. Yeah, he did act kinda rough, letting his suppressed feelings take over the best of him. Aster released an awkward chuckle, “I guess I did… uh, scare you. Sorry little guy, you won’t be seeing me in this lifetime, again.” He gave the boy’s hair a shuffle, and smiled at him for the last time, before taking his leave without a noise.

In other times, Aster would’ve been balling his eyes out because of what Luca had said, but this time, he was far over it. He let out a chortle, and spoke. “Really? I scare you? C’mon Luca, we all know how much you love me. That’s impossible.

Luca looked at him with an eyes full of tears, fear, and a glint of anger, “are you out of your mind? What are you talking about?

Luca Kaneshiro‘s Third Life

Inside a quiet hotel room sat two people on the bed. It was normal for them to not speak, once in a while but this time, it was too quiet you could hear a sound of a pin drop. What caused this silence, you may ask?

Well, two friends with benefits had an argument about a nonsensical conversation regarding reincarnations, and immortality. If it hadn’t been for Luca who screamed for silence, none of them would be done in talking about it.

It started when Aster confessed his love for the blonde, as he spoke about his (nearly) immortality, and how it was Luca’s third life. Much to Aster’s honesty, Luca couldn’t hear anything but Aster spouting bullshit.

Aster tried conversing Luca into believing him, but it was useless. Luca was close minded in these kind of things.

After letting Luca’s anger to vanish, Aster tried to speak to him, again. “Hey, Luca? I’m sorry.” He said, head hanging low. Luca just heaved a deep sigh, “it’s alright. I just can’t believe you would say something like that, out of the blue.”

Aster looked back up at Luca, “but, please do believe me!” Before Aster could even add anything, Luca shushed him, and looked straight at the other’s eyes. “Are you out of your mind? What are you talking about? Would you really thought I would fall for your bullshit? If you can’t stop talking about your crap, just leave.”

Aster’s sad gaze at Luca was what Luca had seen before Aster completely vanished out of his life in that lifetime.

Flashbacks ended.

Aster just laughed, maniacally. “Oh, darling, no~. I’m not out of my mind. It’s just, you need a little bit of touching to make someone remember how they love you.” Aster seductively whispered in Luca’s ears, making the other cover them.

After a lot of force, Luca managed to get out of Aster’s tight embrace. “Get away from me, you weirdo!

You weirdo. Weirdo. The word came into Aster’s mind, echoing inside his head, again and again. The ringing in his ears was getting louder, and louder as paranoia began filling up his body. He covered his ears, trying to block out the voices of disgust in his head.

He raised his head, catching Luca eyeing him in fear. Tears began to well up in his eyes, as terror began spreading in his mind. He bowed at Luca, muttering a soft sorry before running away onto the city streets, never to be seen again.

Aster ran away from Luca, and everything. Reaching the top floor of a random building, Aster stood outside the railings, staring down at the busy road. Aster’s tears was flew by the cold wind. He rethinks about his whole life, and how fate always defies his’ and Luca’s love story.

No matter how hard he tries to revive it, they will never reach the ending he wanted. They wanted. He slowly let go of the railings, letting himself fall to his death, breaking the promise he once made for Luca.

They can never rewrite their story, once again. Not when fate is the one that’s against them.

“I’m sorry Luca, I’m letting you go. I’m letting the both of us go.” His body fall down as he ended his sentence. Thus, the once shining star ended up as another fallen light, whom everyone wishes upon to.

Timeskip.

A million years had passed, and Aster’s long withhold memories has been passed down to Luca, who immediately regretted everything he had done. Not once did their paths have crossed, once again.

Not once between a million years, but here they are. Luca’s fond eyes, staring at Aster’s two coloured orbs. Locked in each other’s gaze, Luca slowly took a step towards Aster.

“Aster? My love? Is that you?” Luca’s eyes began to cloud, as Aster gave him a weird look. “Uhm, do I know you? ” A confused voice came out of Aster’s mouth, that made Luca freeze on the spot. It took awhile for Luca to sink in what Aster had just said. Just as he was about to speak, someone was already calling out Aster’s name.

Aster just gave him an apologetic smile, “sorry, I have to go. I’m going to be late for a meeting.” He made his way to where the voice was, as Luca just stared at his back vanishing in the crowd.

He smiled, and thought, 'I’ll make this right. In this lifetime.'
