Chapter Text

It’s been a decade since Liz left, no note, no goodbye. She had a way out and she took it; all thanks to Price. And they didn’t deserve it, not by a long shot. Not with what they put her through.

Though, the only person she had a good relationship with was her brother Logan. Not leaving a note for him plagued her mind ever since, if anyone deserved a note it was him. He deserved to know where she was going and why, not just leave him confused and hurt back on Firebase Phoenix.

She couldn’t force herself to do it though, thinking it’d be best if he didn’t know. But as the years ticked on a lot of things in her life made her want her big brother. Liz wants him to meet his niece, his brother-in-law, see how different her life is now compared to what it was a decade ago.

Now with things finally settling down, they were going to meet face to face. She was a mix of emotions, happy and ecstatic were the main ones. And she’d be lying if she said she wasn’t a tad bit nervous.

However, as the minutes passed on she was becoming more nervous. It was starting to make her feel ill.

“Love, it’s going to be fine!”

She looked up with a weak smile. “He’s going to be angry.”

“And?”

“There is no ‘and’.” She sighed. “He deserves to be angry at me, this should’ve happened years ago.”

Simon glanced over at the living room, seeing Tommy was still fast asleep in his pack n play. “You can’t blame yourself for what happened all those years ago. You were young and angry, I know what that does to a person.”

“I know.” She sighed, turning her body to look back at Tommy. Already a year old and looking more like his father each day. “I guess I’m scared of him looking at me like our father did, a disappointment.”

She turned back around, staring down at her hands. If it wasn’t for Logan, she might not have survived her teenage years.

“From what you’ve told me about him, he loves you!” He grabbed her hand, gently squeezing it to make her look at him. “He knows your past, he’s not going to look at you like that.”

“I hope you’re right.”

He retracted his hand from hers with a soft smile. In all the years he’s known her, he has never seen her this nervous before. Hell it almost seemed out of character for her, but this was her brother after all. The one she actually had a good relationship with, so it wasn’t hard to understand why she would be so nervous.

“I guess time will tell.”

She gave him a soft smile before her attention was brought to the sound of small footfalls coming down the stairs. A short moment later Faith was at the bottom of the stairs, horse plushie in her hand and rubbing her eye.

“Did you have a good nap, sweetheart?”

She nodded her head and walked over to her dad, who easily picked her up and placed her on his lap. “I’m thirsty.”

“Okay, what do you want?”

“Apple juice.”

Liz chuckled and got out of her seat to go grab a cup from the cupboard. She placed it down on the counter while she went to the fridge to get the apple juice. She glanced over to see Faith’s head leaning against Simon’s chest; that made her smile. She was a daddy’s girl through and through.

After she poured some of the juice in the cup she walked over and placed it in front of her. “Here you go.”

“Thank you, mommy!”

“You’re welcome, sweetheart!”

She walked back to the counter to grab the juice and placed it back into the fridge before she sat back down in her seat. She watched Faith for a moment, seeing her nearly chug her juice as she looked over at her little brother.

“Tommy’s still sleeping.”

“Yes he is, princess.”

“He’s usually up before me.”

Liz glanced over at Tommy, seeing his blond hair sticking up on the side of his head. “He must be extra sleepy today.”

‘Yeah.” She placed her cup on the table with a sigh. “Mommy, are you going somewhere today? I heard you and daddy talking about meeting someone.”

“Yes I am.” She grabbed her phone to check the time, still over an hour to go before she had to meet him at the cafe. “But your daddy will be staying here with you and your brother.”

“We can’t go?”

“Not this time, sweetheart!”

“Why not?”

“It’s something your mum has to do on her own. She should only be gone for a few hours.”

Liz gave Faith a warm smile and leaned forward. “If everything goes right, you might be meeting the same person today.”

“Really?”

The excitement and the giant smile on the little girl made her laugh. But she also didn’t want to get her hopes up either. Though, in the end it was nice to see she was excited to meet her uncle. The uncle she had no idea existed.

“Right now, it’s a maybe. I don’t know for sure.”

“Oh, okay.”

“Princess, why don’t you go play. I need to talk with your mum.”

“Okay, daddy.”

She got down off his lap, grabbed her drink and headed for the living room.

Liz looked over at him, softly sighing from her nose. It was getting closer for her to leave and the nerves were rising.

“You’re going to be fine, love!”

“I know!” She gave him a small smile, rubbing her hand up and down her arm. “I am excited to see him though, it’s been so long.”

“And I’m sure he’s excited to see you!” He reached his hand out again to grab hers. “A decade is a long time, you both have a lot to catch up on.”

So much has happened since she left, she wouldn’t even know where to start. Does she start at the beginning when Price found her bleeding out? When she joined Price’s Bravo Team? The family she now has? There’s so much she wants to tell him, she just doesn’t know where to start.

“Too much.”

Simon nodded his head in agreement and retracted his hand from hers. “You should probably get going.”

She groaned and got up from her seat. Her purse was already near the door, she just had to put on her jacket and head out.

After saying goodbye to Faith and giving Tommy a kiss on the head, she headed for the door. She grabbed the knob and took a deep breath before opening the door; she was about to see her big brother for the first time in over a decade. Thinking about that put a smile on her face.
