A clock for a heart. So strange. So peculiar to people. Kou is that person with a clock for a heart. Born with a frozen on and given a clock instead. As Kou was born on the coldest day of the year. Were everything was freezing. From fishes just jumping out of the water to red sparrows just flying in the sky frozen insistently. Teru had saved him that day, giving him a clock heart of course. Kou must follow three rules his brother Teru had given him.
1. Never touch the hands of your hand - only a clockmaker and Teru could for repairs and check ups
2. Keep his temper under control - never get angry or face the consequences
And the important rules of all
3. Never fall in love
Well today that third and important rule is what Kou broke today. The dull city grew to shimmer in the gentle sun’s gaze. Turning dark grays to little shades as for other’s did the same. The sound of children laughing and giggling echoed through the alley. Kou walked down the alleyway and a short, brunette haired boy caught his attention at the end of the alleyway. The short, brunette haired boy pulled a barrel organ* until he placed it in his desired spot, and began turning the handle. A soften melody started to play as people - Kou included - were drawn into the young performer's performance.
" My vision's not quite right
but glasses make me look a sight "
The boy sang as his left hand turned the handle of the small barrel organ as his right hand moved freely. His voice was as soft as the melody he was singing too. Kou stared with amazement as the boy continued to sing.
" Enough to give the world a fright
Like a sprite
Wearin’ specs "
The boy placed his hands on the side of each hip as his tone of voice was softly changed into a slightly sad tone. Kou slowly moved to the front of the crowd with eyes still remaining on the boy who was singing as his wingtip oxfords clipped on the squared floor. He's never seen a boy as beautiful as the one before him, who was singing so beautifully.
" oh, fiery little sprite
Conflagration in the night
Don't play games with your sights
If it leaves you in the dark "
Kou moved away from the crowd and closer to the boy as he sang along with him with arms moving freely. As he bowed, ever so slightly to the boy who was still turning the handle, looking at Kou curiously before singing back at him with a smirk on the boy’s face. The boy giggled as he turned the hand to the barrel organ.
" I prefer life all a blur
I forget to wear my glasses
When I sing or share caresses
It feels good to close my eyes "
The boy turned the handle as his grip on it seemed to tighten as he sang, swaying his hand back and forth. His eyes moved along with his hand as he avoided any eye contact with Kou. Only staring at the area that surrounded them and the crowd of people watching them.
" oh, my pretty arsonist
Let me clasp you close to me
Rip your clothes with my teeth
And tear them into confetti
To scatter as we kiss "
Kou climbed onto the small barrel organ as he rested his head on his hand, singing away. Staring sweetly and deeply at the brunette boy as the boy only smirked at Kou before looking ahead and turning the handle to the barrel organ. Kou then jumped off and walked toward the boy before kneeling and spreading his arms apart. Smiling brightly at him
" Confetti? "
The boy sang as he looked at Kou with a confused yet genuine facial expression before chuckling lightly. As the music from the barrel organ played softly between them as the boy turned the handle subconsciously.
" on you and me "
Kou sang back and smiled back brightly and nervously before the boy gave the barrel organ a quick push as he moved away from the barrel organ and onto the middle of the courtyard, where they were at with arms reaching out toward Kou.
" all I see are stars
Suddenly some days
My eyes lead me astray
Faraway down the street
Until I can't bear to steal
A glance at the sun
Or even look the sky
straight in the eye
All I see are stars "
The boy sang as he danced with his arms moved gracefully as ever in the sun’s bright shimmer as it highlights the soft freckles on his face. Kou stares as he is starstruck with fasication with the boy’s gracefully movements. The boy slowly dances back to the handle of the barrel organ as Kou slowly holds the boy’s forearm and leads his hand back to the handle. .
" I won't let you stray
I'll be your only guide
Let me be your pair of eyes
You'll be my special flame "
As they push it together as the cart gets slightly larger in height, as Kou sang to the boy. The boy with big crescent amber eyes stares at Kou’s bright blue eyes. The crowd around them danced as if they were people coming out of the clock. Choppy and slow yet elegantly. Kou watched away a bit while singing as he left the boy turning the handle. He opened up his coat as his heart was smoking. He patted his heart softly before lightly blowing at it, hoping it would stop smoking. The boy looked at Kou before looking at something else.
" there's one thing I must confess
Of five senses my hearing's best
I'll never recognize you by
Relying on my eyes "
The clock struck at when the bird came out, it was replaced with a smaller version of the boy, who sang back at Kou as the boy dance as his back is connect to the retractable piece used to pull and push the bird in and out of the clock. The boy dances as if he’s in middle, singing as the retractable piece jointed with every action the boy did. He was retracted back into the doors of Kou’s clock heart.
" smoldering embers
Alone in the dark
We'll raise cascades of sparks
As the clock of my heart
Strikes midnight we'll catch on fire
And blaze so bright
you'll see the light "
Kou stared at his clock heart before turning around, slowly dancing toward the boy as he sang. Each step sent chills down his spine as his clock heart ticked as every second passed. The boy smiled ever so sweetly as the Kou’s coat let a small burnt piece fly off into the sky. Sudden the boy was caught onto the handle and was turning around continually. Kou looked at the boy with a bit of startlement.
The boy was spinning around as Kou tried to catch him but failed continuously. His leg’s hitting against the clock heart made Kou spin around in circles. After a couple of times before the boy’s perfectly fit black dress pants caught the hands of the clock tore a piece of it off. The two them fall, the boy falling off the handle and Kou falling to the ground. They laid side by side on the ground. Kou looked at the brunette and held a hand out as he smiled, the boy smiled sweetly as he took Kou’s hand softly and gently.
" all I see are stars
Suddenly some days
My eyes lead astray
Faraway down the street
Until I can't bear to steal
A glance at the sun
Or even look the sky
straight in the eye
all I see are stars "
The two helped each other up as they sang together. Hands intertwined as they slowly grew closer together. Kou’s heart continued smoking up as he coughed quietly but painfully. The boy leaned in for a kiss before Kou coughed once again as the boy drew back. His clock heart made quiet pitter-patter noises. “What’s that pitter-patter noise?” The boy asked curiously. Kou chuckled nervously as he respond. “O-oh, that’s the rain… You like the rain.” The boy looked into Kou’s blue eyes as Kou’s eyes looked some else nervously, “Like the rain? As in getting wet no not really but the sound it makes, then yes.” He smiled as Kou chuckled happily.
As they mentioned the rain, drops fall from the sky. “Looks like a thunderstorm is brewing.” The boy frowned. “My name is Kou by the way! Sorry for not introducing myself earlier.” Kou sheepishly spoke as the boy chuckled softly. “I’m Amane. Pleasure meeting you, Kou.” Amane grinned as he bowed. A few minutes passed and the two leaned in for another kiss, but were interrupted as Kou coughed once more and fell back onto the ground. Smoke coming out of his clock. Teru came running to Kou as he called Kou’s name. Amane was still leaning in as if they were going to kiss before pulling back and grabbing his glasses from his pocket. He placed the black framed glasses on his face as Teru turned and glared at him.
“What have you done with him?” Teru glared at Amane as he held Kou close. Amane froze as thorns sprouted all around his arms, shoulders, chest, and waist. He ran away from the scene leaving his barrel organ behind.
That day was the best day for Kou to break Teru’s third rule. And fall in love with the street performer, whose name was Amane. A short, choppy brunette hair, bright amber crescent eyes boy had caught the clock heart of Kou Minamoto. Who was destined to die from falling in love with him.
