Wednesday is a cat, unironically

Summary:

Enid wakes up to Wednesday holding a knife to her throat. Why? Wednesday thinks Enid cast a hex on her and turned her into a cat. Enid has no idea how it happened, but has to convince her feline roommate she didn’t do it, especially one with an extensive knife collection.

Work Text:

Enid was deep asleep, however, she began to feel a sharp metal object point against her throat. Slowly opening her eyes Enid saw a dark figure looming over her, crouching on her bed, their legs on either side of her body.

“Reverse it now Sinclair, or I promise to make your death slow and painful.”

Enid couldn’t help but smile at the image of Wednesday scowling on top of her on the colorful bed. Enid blinked a few times, eyes adjusting to the darkly lit room casted in scattered moonlight.

“Reverse what?” Enid groggily asked.

The sharp metal object pressed deeper into her skin, causing Enid to freeze, again realizing that Addams held a large knife to her neck.

“The hex you cast on me. Reverse it immediately or your head will be mounted on this wall in exactly 30 seconds.”

Enid fully woke up then and stared at the Addams girl, her eyes meeting two yellow orbs with black lines in the middle of each. When did Wednesday have yellow eyes?

Enid knew that Wednesday tolerated her enough not to actually kill her, but she’s never heard Wednesday speak with such malice. Besides, Wednesday knew much more than how to kill a person and Enid was NOT going to find out. Especially since she didn’t do whatever Wednesday is claiming she did.

Enid squirmed, trying to sit up and get a better look at the shorter girl, “I didn’t cast anything!”

Wednesday held the knife’s VERY sharp edge against Enid’s neck, careful and precise with her movements. “Liar. 20 seconds.”

“Wednesday, what’s going on? Why are your eyes yellow? Why do you have-?”

A small quick movement on the top of Wednesday’s head caught Enid’s attention. Using her heightened vision given by her wolf heritage, Enid makes out two black ears sitting on either side of Addams’ head.

“Wednesday…do you have ears?” Enid stifles a laugh. This must be a dream.

Both of Wednesday’s ears flatten against her hair, confirming Enid’s suspicions.

Wednesday’s voice is laced with anger, small canine teeth poke through her snarl, “10 seconds Sinclair-“

“Why would I hex you!? You know where I sleep! Besides, I can’t even perform basic spells, let alone cast one!”

Enid held her breath, waiting for Wednesday to follow through with her threat.

The dark haired girl paused, “You are rather exceptional at failing simple conjures and potions.”

Enid frowned, she didn’t think she was THAT bad at her classes. However, Wednesday still held the knife to her throat and Enid would like to live with all her fur intact for one more day. If only to get back a sweatshirt that Yoko stole earlier that month.

Tired of the guessing game and avoiding being stabbed, Enid gently asks, “Turn on a light. Maybe I can help you?”

Wednesday freezes, “No!”

Enid gulps as the pressure of the knife increases a little, worried that blood might start dripping at any moment.

“Wednesday, I just want to help.” Enid looks at her with soft pleasing eyes. She’s never seen her roommate so guarded and obviously distressed.

Leaning closer, Wednesday growls, actually growls at the still pinned Sinclair, “You can help by un-hexing this damned transformation spell.”

“Tranformation-?”

Just then the dorm room lights turn on. Enid and Wednesday both whip their heads and spot Thing, the hand creature, near the light switch. It waves a small hello. Enid smiles at the animated body part.

“You TREACHEROUS LEECH!” Wednesday throws a dagger at the hand and it scurries away just in time from being hit.

Enid mentally makes note that Wednesday has more weapons and knives concealed at any given moment than she originally thought. This made Enid’s heart beat a couple seconds faster, her mind in awe at the smaller girl’s cleverness.

Wednesday tears her gaze away from the hand creature and looks back down at Enid. Her head lowers slightly with, shyness? Enid blinks, unaware that Addams could feel such an emotion. Another moment goes by and Enid gasps.

“OMG YOURE A CAT!”

Wednesday’s head snaps up and she growls at the blonde. Holy shit that’s lowkey hot, Enid thinks, her face becoming slightly heated. Finally all the pieces came together and Enid understood what had the dreary girl so angered. Wednesday was hexed by someone and turned partially into a cat.
