Work Text:
Beatrice knows what she should do. She knew the second Ava walked into the bookstore she found work at. With a baseball hat on and a smile that so easily reached her eyes. Beatrice was never unprofessional - she became the manager of said store two and a half weeks in - but she set her stack of books down instantly once she saw her.
She should call Mother Superion. Any of the girls, really. Tell them all that Ava is alive and well. That the months for her was weeks for the rest of them. It would take two seconds to do so.
Two seconds she wouldn’t be able to spend with her arm wrapped around Ava, holding her close on the mattress. Beatrice had left home early immediately, fingers entwined with Ava’s the entire way.
Beatrice told herself she would never waste another second with Ava. She regretted everything she didn’t do every waking moment of her life for weeks. She had full faith in her love to come back, of course she did. It was Ava, she always found a way.
She was staring up at the ceiling now. Ava sleeping curled up next to her because quote ‘Who knew inter-dimensional travel would leave a girl so tired?’ and it reminded Beatrice of their time in Switzerland together. The short amount of time before one of them just bit the bullet and share the bed with the other.
Beatrice remembers how on their second week it got oddly cold one night. How Ava subconsciously clung to her, wrapping her entire body around Beatrice’s. She remembers staring wide eyed at the ceiling with her hands clasped over her abdomen as she tried to steady her breathing.
She remembers eventually thinking they could do this every night, and for the rest of their time there they did.
Beatrice isn’t sure she ever wants to let go of Ava. Realistically she’ll have to - sure. When she goes into work or when one of them has to go to the bathroom.
Would it be a sin to handcuff yourself to the one you love most?
Beatrice wonders if she’ll ever have to move. She doesn’t want to. She’s tired but doesn’t want to lose another moment of feeling Ava’s breath against her neck or her chest pushing up against her side or her hand twitching every now and then.
Beatrice believes she could be one of those people who could stay in one spot forever, as long as Ava was there with her. It’d be harder to keep Ava still, though. She’s probably dreaming about traveling right now.
She hopes she’s in her dream, too. The same way Ava was in hers for a long time.
Ava stirred next to her, and Beatrice stayed as still as she had been for the past hour and a half since she first fell asleep next to her. Ava angled her head up, so her mouth was next to Beatrice’s ear.
”Go to sleep, I’m not leaving.” Beatrice only hummed. A small smile came onto her face as Ava’s breathing slowed again minutes later. She supposes she could go to bed, waking up next to Ava seemed even more pleasing now that she thought of it.
