Primo rested his head against your thigh, it had been a long tiring day and the eldest Emeritus needed some time to relax. You were sat against the headboard book in hand listening to one of Primo's records.
"My dear, I have a question to ask you." it was the first time he had spoken since you have settled on the bed.
"Yes papa?" you look down at him.
"Why me? You could have any man in the church yet every night you come to my room." he turned to face you more, now looking straight up from your lap.
"What bought this on?" you give him a questioning look.
"Just... Help put this old man's mind at ease." sighing he buried his face into your stomach.
You thought for a moment, well the answer was obvious so you said what you felt was right. Gently taking his face in your hands you smile at him.
"Because I love you." you look into his mismatch eyes.
"You do?" he couldn't believe his ears.
"Of course, you are who I wish to be with. Not Secondo or Terzo, but you, the papa who made me realise how special I am." you can see tears beginning to well up in his eyes.
Without a second thought you pull him against your chest, wrapping him in a tight hug. And as he silently cries you tell him over and over how much you love him. It broke your heart to see him like this, so unused to unconditional love, that you made a vow to yourself that you would show this man how much you love him for the rest of your life.
