A fire crackled and glowed in the fireplace. On a chair a woman sat close to it. Thick, comfortable socks adorned the woman's feet. A heavy quilt was draped over her legs and a small blanket was draped over her shoulders. She wore a thick hand-knit wool sweater and her ears were covered in a stocking cap. For most people this would be entirely too warm. But for her it felt heavenly. She had been given quite a chill and it required no less to banish it from your body. Much to her surprise her gaze suddenly met that of an orange and white cat.
"Hello Kitty, how did you get here?" The woman asked.
"Defending my daughter." The cat replied.
"Me too" the woman replied. "I guess this makes us kindred spirits. If you'd like you can curl up on my lap. I never expected company here so your presence is quite welcome."
"Right now that sounds heavenly" the cat replied as she jumped into the woman's blanket covered lap in a single leap.
"Do you think they'll be ok?" The woman asked the cat.
"Of course" the cat replied. "They had great mothers."
