Forever Little

Summary:

So I read these amazing works by @Datawolf39 and I felt inspired to write an add on one shot.

This is basically Henry going to Loca’s for a little night and a storm hits and he gets comforted by Loca.

Work Text:

I’ve been feeling off for days now, I knew I should speak to Luca and ask for some little time but sadly crime had other plans for me.

I’ve been elbow deep in bodies for days and it was starting to wear me thin even Jo has noticed. That woman is too observant more so than cops usual are. She seems to notice every line of stress on my face and how I keep seeking out Luca with my eyes. I’m surprised he hasn’t felt my hopeful gazes burning into the back of his head as he autopsies across the room from me.

We’re both extremely stressed and I was unbelievably thankful this case was slowly drawing a close. I do blame myself for it dragging on I’ve been so wrapped up in my own head to see the obvious clues starting me in the face. Jo doesn’t seem upset at me so I guess that’s a bonus but now I’m dying for a break.

Luca came stumbling over to me as I finished packing away my work bag “Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to stay at mine tonight?”

My heart skipped a beat “Little night?” I half whispered.

His warm hand cupped my face “Yeah, little guy. I think we both need it, I’ve missed looking after you.”

I smiled fondly and could feel myself slipping. He hurriedly helped me into my coat and took my bag before holding my head and leading me out of the office. I was half dazed for our subway ride out to his, just thankful to be able to let go of my worries and know he’ll catch me.

The night started off wonderfully. He ordered us pizza and we watched the Disney movie Brother Bear as we snuggled on couch. He even comforted me as I cried over the bears mother being shot. He never judges me and I don’t know how I got so lucky to have him as a caregiver.

Afterwards he made me a warm bubble bath they faintly smelt like bubblegum and he allowed me to bring two toys into the bath. I picked my boat and my giant rubber duck. The duck Mr. Beak was chasing the boat around the waters trying to sink it. Making me giggle as Luca washed me, making me whine when he washed my hair as I had to briefly stop playing to close my eyes and tilt my head back.

“They’re all done, let’s get you out and ready for bed,” Luca declared cheerfully. Making me pout “none of that,” he said as he tapped my lip.

“I wanna play!” I whined angry splashing my hand into the water soaking Luca’s shirt.

“Henry,” he warned making me sigh.

With a scowl I let him get me out of the tub and wrap me in a thick towel before the cold air could bother me. I soon found myself in a pull-up duck themed and in some cosy clothes before being tucked into bed where he read me a bedtime story helping me sleep easily.

Before the storm came and woke me up with a startled cry and unfortunately a wet pull-up but I was too little to care. As by magic Luca came rushing in and gathered me up into his arms bridal style and carried me into his room.

Lighting flashed lighting up the room making me whimper. “Shh, baby boy it’s okay, I’m here I’ll change you then give you lots of cuddles.”

As promised he carefully slipped my joggers down followed by the pull-up. With care he wiped me down to clean me before redressing me.

Before I could cry out from another loud boom of thunder he was holding me close and rocking me slightly. I soon fell asleep within his warm brace feeling safe and sound.

When morning came I knew allowing him to care for me was the best choice I made. He doesn’t judge me, he’s compassionate and very adaptive to my needs and with him I can fully let go without fear or judgement.
