Work Text:
"Sofia, thanks again for getting me out in the fresh air." Katya smiled as they walked through the marketplace. As of late, all the work she has put into the Goncharov name has, admittedly, taken its toll. This was a very welcomed reprieve.
"Oh, Katya, you needed this. If I had to come in and see you cooped up for just another second, I'd pull my hair out." Sofia laughed as she spoke, but she was dead serious. All that work, and for what? Goncharov to leave her alone when dinner rolls around for the umpteenth time? It's a miserable thought. She doesn't know how Goncharov just does that.
Katya chuckled. "I can't say I disagree with you there." Katya made a noise of surprise as she turned to look at some of the fruits the shop stand two rows down was selling. There was a large collection of fruit and vegetables, some bins even being empty by the time they arrived to them.
The marketplace was bustling, even though they were a sizable distance away from the nearest shopper, they sounded as if they were only a couple of feet away. It was comforting, in an odd way, and made the look of delight accompanied with a subtle smile on Katya's face all the more beautiful. The way a curl came undone and framed her face was all the more welcome.
"Sofia? What's this apple?" Katya called, snapping Sofia out of her thoughts.
"Hm?" Sofia looked up to see a pomegranate, of all things. "Oh, Katya," She laughed, "my clueless little dear." She took a step closer and picked up another one. "It's a pomegranate." Sofia twirled it in her hand, showing it off. "You know." She smiled.
"Oh, well, Isn't there a lot of them?" Katya gestured to the other market bins, sure enough there was an absurd number of pomegranates and apples. All of the other produce was scattered about further into the rows of the tiny shop. "Peculiar, Isn't it?" Katya turned and put her fruit back, turning to Sofia.
"Yes, I suppose it is, there's not usually this much." Sofia went to put it back when she accidently dropped it. "Oh! Goodness-" Sofia tried to scoop it back into her hands but failed and could only watch as it rolled into one of the filthy alleyways.
"I will get it, Sofia." Katya pecked her on the cheek before chasing after the pomegranate, into the darkness.
