It was an average day in the Boar Hat inn, business was going well. Ban was cooking up some amazing food as always, the captain was serving out beers and Elizabeth, Diane (who was thankfully much smaller), and Gowther were serving. I was simply watching these people fight amongst each other sometimes but they are my friends, and I would gladly risk my life for any of them. Especially.. lady Merlin… speaking of which where is she? Probably locked away in her lab in Liones, I should go bring her one of Bans meat pies.
Just then King flies over to me "whatcha doing here all alone Escanor? Don't wanna join in on the festivities"
I smile at him "I am participating King, just at a distance. As you can see Ban and the others are working, not much for me to do. Unless of course we get attacked"
"Hey buddy!" Captain Meliodas says popping up suddenly in front of me, with two steins of beer "care for a drink?"
"Don't mind if I do captain, thank you" I say as I take the drink, the captain sits down beside me.
"Hey Escanor? You seen Merlin?" He asks
"No, but I assume she's away in her lab. Why do you ask? Is there trouble?"
"Yeah. There's trouble. And it's pretty serious" the captain says to me with a stern face. He means business.
"What is it? I will go save her, I am sworn to protect lady merlin" I say.
"Its just.." suddenly the stern look of the captain disappeared and he took up a stupid look on his face "we need more waitresses! We don't have enough!"
As the captain said this both I and King fell to the ground in complete shock.
"Ugh Captain.. you can't just get us all worried like that, you knocked Escanor out" King proclaims
"I don't think I've ever seen Escanor out like that captain, you seriously freaked his ass out" Ban says from a distance laughing.
I rise to my feet "Captain.."
Ban walks over, with one of his meat pies "here Escanor, you should take this over to Merlin. She's been gone all day I'm sure even she's hungry"
"AND I'LL GO WITH YOU!" Hawk squeals
"That's not necessary Hawk my-"
"Nonsense Escanor, you are only the 3rd strongest Sin, next only to Meliodas and myself! The Great Hawk! Captain of the scraps disposal!!" Hawk claims, as Ban bows to him.
"Oh master! So selfless!" Ban claims.
"Actually scraps captain, Escanor is by far the strongest of any of us including the captain" Gowther chimes in.
"Its quite alright, my strength alone will be sufficient. However if Hawk wishes he can accompany me. Perhaps he will be of use" I say.
"Yeah, if you get hungry you can cook him up and eat him!" Meliodas says.
"CAPTAIIIN!!!" Hawk cries out.
I take up the meat pie and bring my divine ax Rhita along just in case, and the two of us set out. It would not be a long journey to Merlin's lab. But luck favors the prepared. But with my strength (and I suppose Hawks) it'll be alright.
After a while we arrive in Liones, one of the bustling kingdoms of Brittania, and then to Merlin's lab. Which as soon as we arrived the door swung open
"Welcome Escanor and Hawk" Merlin says floating before us "do come in"
The two of us walk in.
"Lady Merlin, Ban requested this meat pie be brought to you. We were sure you were hungry"
"Yeah, and Bans cooking is the absolute best! If you don't want it, leave it to me!"
Merlin let's out a slight laugh "well thank you, perhaps I should eat. But first, Escanor can you help me with something?"
"Of course lady Merlin, I am yours" I say.
"Good. You see, I've recently learned of a new teleportation spell."
"A teleportation spell? Aren't you already capable of teleporting?" Hawk questions.
"Yeah, but the thing is the new spell is far more powerful, and requires less energy to use. A win win on every front. It's distance is also far broader than that of any previous spell I've come across. I've been able to teleport inanimate objects but I need a living subject to test it on." She says
"I see, Lady Merlin, it would be my honor. If it helps you and the seven deadly sins, then I cannot object" I say.
"HEY what about me!? I wanna teleport!"
"Well Hawk, if I send both of you. Who would be here to protect me?"
"Ah! Yeah fair point, and I'm far stronger than Escanor so it's settled then! Escanor you're gonna be the test dummy!" Hawk says.
Obviously I'm far stronger than Hawk, and Merlin knows that. Seems only Hawk doesn't know that. But there's no harm in letting him believe that, I would protect him too in case of a fight. "Right of course, wise decision sir Hawk" I say.
"Okay Escanor, come here and stand in this circle"
I do as she asks, and stand in the circle. "I'm ready Merlin"
"Oh and leave Rhita. This spell is unknown to me, and has had an unintended side effect of sending two objects to different places. Best if Rhita stays behind, besides you can make due without it right?"
"Ah of course" I lay the ax outside the circle "I can always summon it to my location no problem. Now I'm ready Lady Merlin"
"Good, stand back Hawk. Okay Escanor, 3..2…1.." she says as she snaps her fingers and a pink light shoots up from the circle and incases my body. Soon enough, I vanished.
"Wow Merlin!" Where'd he go?
"Hmm.. this is a problem."
"Merlin? What's up?"
"I'll explain in a sec, first" she snaps her fingers and we're back at the boar hat.
Meliodas is busy serving customers when he notices me and Hawk.
"Oh hey Merlin, what's up?"
"Captain, I need to talk to you. It's serious"
Meliodas takes up a stern look "right, Ban?"
"Yea" Ban answers
"Hold down the Boar Hat, I'll relay the message back to everyone when I get back"
"Sure thing. You can count on me" Ban says.
"Captain..?" Diane asks worried.
"Don't worry Diane, I'll pass along the message. Whatever it is it's gonna end up being juuuust fine" Meliodas says with a large grin. To which her and Elizabeth both smiled back, and kept on their work.
"Now then, let's head upstairs" I said, as Hawk and Meliodas followed behind me.
"Okay Merlin, what's up? And why isn't Escanor with you?" Meliodas asks.
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about. I don't know" I say
Meliodas and Hawk both look very surprised by this, I usually never have to say those words
"You don't KNOW!? What happened?" Meliodas says.
"Right, let me explain. I was practicing a new teleportation spell on him. And every trial was successful, but I needed a living subject. The test succeeded, Escanor was sent away. But afterwards I wasn't detecting his energy anywhere in the world"
"C..could he be.. dead.."? Hawk asks frightened
"No, he's not dead. I'm still picking up his energy but it's faint. I have no idea where this sent him."
"Will you be able to bring him back?" Captain asks
"Probably. It'll take some time. I figured I'd tell you and the others"
"I see..this isn't good, we can't leave him behind. We have to help him!!" Captain says
"We absolutely will. And the first thing I'm gonna do is find the person who told me about this spell and question him."
"A good starting point. Hey why did you choose Escanor anyway? Coulda been any one of us" Captain asks
"Because Escanor is the strongest or us and had the highest chance of being able to fight off Whatever he comes across, I thought about using Ban too since he can't die, but I figured Escanor would more easily accept the task. Don't worry Captain, we will save Escanor. But for now we need to trust in him. If anything we should worry about whatever's going to be unlucky enough to fight him."
Hawk and the Captain nodded.
Just where exactly are you.. Escanor, the lion sin of pride.
