Work Text:
It was a quiet morning, so Emil decided to stop by his favorite cafe for a quick coffee before he had to be at school.
Checking the time, he notices that he has enough time to enjoy his coffee at the cafe, with plenty of time left over to walk to school the rest of the way.
“Emil?” The barista reads his name off the cup.
Standing, Emil goes to pick up his coffee. “That’s me,” he mumbles.
“Here you go, sir,” the barista hands him his drink and goes to get the next drink.
Emil heads back to where he was sitting to sip his coffee and scroll through Tumblr.
“Leon?” The barista calls out next.
A teenager about Emil’s age stands up and gets his drink, which Emil notices is tea, not coffee. This causes Emil to raise an eyebrow, who gets tea at a cafe? Certainly not anyone Emil knew, except maybe that Kirkland jerk who seems to hate him for no reason.
Emil is knocked out of his train of thought when the teen known as Leon sits down right in front of him.
“Hey,” he nods. “We go to the same school, right?”
“Oh,” Emil mumbles, hiding his embarrassed blush from behind his cup of coffee. “Yeah, we do.” He recognizes Leon from one of his classes, although they’ve never spoken before.
“I noticed you were staring at me,” Leon chuckles. “I thought it was cute.”
Face having gone bright red, Emil begins to apologize. “Sorry, I just noticed you ordered tea, and…”
Leon starts laughing, “And who the hell orders coffee at a cafe?”
“...Yeah,” Emil mumbles.
“You’re funny, I like you,” Leon smirks. “How about we walk to school together?”
“O- Oh,” Emil stutters. “Okay, sure…”
