Chapter Text
Donnie was curious and confused, but he was also reluctant.
He's pretty confident it's malware, even if he didn't find any other new files or changed settings. But every time he tries to delete it, it just appears again. He even tried to reinstall his operating system! But no matter what 'Shellcord' remained on his desktop.
He was reluctant to open it in case something worse happened. Especially since all his searches for what Shellcord could be has led to dead ends, making him decide he only had one choice. Pretend it isn't there. Which only worked in the sense it prevented any damage to his desktop for weeks, however, in those weeks he couldn't help but think about it.
What is 'Shellcord'? And why is it on his desktop? How did it get there?
Finally, after several moments of consideration and saving his files to an external drive, he runs the application that's been haunting his device.
Bootyyyshaker9000 is typing...
“Booty... Shaker 9000?” Donnie repeated slowly, confused and bewildered.
[ Bootyyyshaker9000 ] I was starting to believe that the connection had failed.
[ Bootyyyshaker9000 ] Which I knew couldn't be accurate, as the application was successfully installed on your device.
[ Donnie ] How did you manage to get past my firewalls?
[ Donnie ] What type of virus did you download to my computer?
[ Donnie ] What's your goal?
[ Bootyyyshaker9000 ] I promise you, there are absolutely no malicious intentions behind my hacking and forceful installation.
[ Bootyyyshaker9000 ] /srs
[ Donnie ] Is that some sort of command you're trying to run?
[ Donnie ] /srs
[ Donnie ] It didn't run anything, what did you just do?
Bootyyyshaker9000 is typing...
[ Bootyyyshaker9000 ] Are you talking about the tone tag?
[ Donnie ] YOU'RE TAGGING MY COMPUTER!!??
[ Bootyyyshaker9000 ] No!
[ Bootyyyshaker9000 ] Do you not use the internet?
[ Donnie ] Yes, I use the internet!
[ Donnie ] Do you think I'm stupid?
[ Bootyyyshaker9000 ] Then how do you not know what a tone tag is?
[ Donnie ] Because I don't, just like how I don't know how you got through my firewalls!!!!!
[ Bootyyyshaker9000 ] Please, I thought it'd be obvious.
[ Donnie ] WELL
[ Donnie ] It's not!
[ Bootyyyshaker9000 ] You cannot be this short-sighted.
[ Donnie ] You're not explaining anything
[ Bootyyyshaker9000 ] You can't think of a single educated guess?
Finally, Donnie closes out Shellcord and shuts off his computer, hurt pounding in his chest. He's left them connected to his computer for too long, and now there's a possible enemy that has his computer tracked and some command was set to run.
He should've never opened it.
