harry potter and the magical girls (+Madoka!)

Summary:

The magical girls and Madoka are headed to Hogwarts!

(I have no idea how to tag this)

Notes:

1. some notes:
a. i don't have any excuse for why they're going to hogwarts when they live in Japan
b. nor do I have an excuse for why they're first years when they aren't 11
c. yes I know the timelines don't match up, I know HP probably takes place before PMMM, whatever
2. I debated whether to put Homura in Hufflepuff of Slytherin for a bit, but in the end I decided on Hufflepuff
3. please appreciate the research I did so the wands at the end of the first chapter would at the very least loosely fit their owners

Chapter Text

“I can’t believe this is happening!” Madoka said happily, sitting in the Hogwarts express. “I mean, it’s not that crazy considering everything else, but it’s so cool that we’re wixen!” They all called themselves wix, seeing as ‘witch’ had some…connotations for them.

“It is cool, isn’t it!” Sayaka replied.

“Better than our previous job, that’s for sure. It does suck that we’re going to have to explain to someone the whole magical girl thing so that we can go fight witches so we don’t…y’know.” Kyoko added from where she was lounged, her back against Sayaka's side.

“We’ll figure it out.” Homura stated. “We should probably come up with an alternate name for witches, though. It’ll get confusing otherwise.” They all thought for a moment.

“It’s kinda mean, but all I could think of was monster.” Madoka finally said, voice slightly small.

“It’ll do for now.” Sayaka said.

Homura and Madoka followed the crowd to the Hufflepuff dorms.

“Hello! I’m professor Sprout, herbology teacher, and welcome to Hufflepuff!” They gathered in front of her. “Now, I know it’s unlikely all of you had Hufflepuff as your first choice of house, but I hope you’ll find a home here. Now, feel free to come to either me or the prefects if you have any problems. This will hold true the entire time you’re at Hogwarts. Even when you’re seventh years, you will still be allowed to come to my office for anything. Now, I won’t keep you too long, feel free to explore the common room or to find your dorms.” Madoka and Homura walked up the stairs to the dorms.

“Look! We’re roommates! Isn’t this exciting Homura?” Madoka exclaimed.

“Yeah. I’m really happy we get to share a room.” Despite her slightly dull tone, Madoka could tell her friend really was happy.

“Isn’t it cool we’re in Gryffindor? That’s the house Dumbledore was in, did you know?” Hermione said to Sayaka.

“That is cool!”

“Are you ok?” Hermione asked, noticing the lack of energy in the response.

“Yeah, it’s just that my friends were sorted into other houses. We’re all muggleborns, and we were friends before Hogwarts too.”

“Do you want to tell me about them?” Sayaka nodded.

“Welcome to Slytherin. I am professor Snape, the potions professor. As you all surely know, Slytherin is not the most well-liked house. Ththe reason for that belongs to the dunderheads in Gryffindor. So, here are the rules. One, any issues you may have with your fellow Slytherins stay within the common room and dorms. As I said, we are not well-liked, meaning we must show a united front. Two, third years and below travel in packs. Griffindor is not above attacking us in the halls. Third, do not make us look bad. Tutoring is available if needed. Any questions?”

“Yes. Why is this muggleborn,” he spat the word. “Here in Slytherin?”

“You have a problem with me?” Kyoko asked, eyebrow raised.

“Yeah. Mudbloods have no place in Hogwarts, let alone Slytherin.” the kid said.

“Fuck you, bitch.” Kyoko swore in response.

“That’s enough you two.” Snape cut in. Kyoko glared.

“He started it.”

“I do not care who started it.” a deep breath. “Whatever. As long as you avoid this behavior outside of Slytherin, I could not care less.”

“Fine.” Kyoko flipped off the boy as she left, easily dodging the spell thrown at her back. (Severus was pleasantly surprised by the lack of whining from Kyoko. He’d expected the muggleborn girl to whine to him about it being unfair, but instead, she’d taken it in stride. (He shouldn’t have been pleasantly surprised. It is concerning when someone so young throws off such behavior so easily, but this was Slytherin, a house that valued self-reliance.))

The quartet reconvened early the next morning.

“What’s up, bitches and Madoka. I got called a slur yesterday and had to dodge a spell being thrown at my back.”

“Oh no! Are you ok?” Madoka asked, concerned.

“Yeah, I’m fine. When I was leaving this morning I think professor Snape complimented me on not whining about it?” Homura squinted slightly at that.

“I feel he should’ve been concerned you didn’t go to him about such behavior.”

“Eh, it happened in front of him and all he said was not to do it outside of the common room. I don’t care though. I told the kid ‘fuck you, bitch.’ and flipped him off, so.”

“Nice,” Sayaka responded. “The second part, I mean.”

“So! Sayaka! How’s Gryffindor?” Madoka asked.

“It’s fine. We didn’t get any sort of introduction,  but my roommates pretty cool. She’s a muggleborn like us and seems like she should be in Ravenclaw for how smart she is. Her name’s Hermione.”

“Hufflepuff is great! We did get an introduction, and I get to be roommates with Homura! Plus, the common room is super cozy!”

“It’s surprisingly warm, and as Madoka said, cozy, considering it’s underground. It’s a little bright in my opinion, but I don’t mind it. Now, thanks to Sayaka and Kyoko, it’s about time for breakfast.”
