Chapter Text
“Ya, Min Yoongi!” a voice called from across the street. Two men jogged over and halted before him, expressions of excitement on their faces.
“Have you been waiting long?” One of the men asked him in a friendly manner.
“Just arrived myself.”
The men patted each other on the back in greeting and went inside the bar. It didn’t even take five minutes for them to sit down and already place their first order of drinks.
“Ya, Min Yoongi, good to see you” exclaimed the same man as before.
“You too, Namjoon-ah.”
“What about me?” the third man suddenly chimed in, feign looks of disappointment on his face.
“Good to see you, too, of course, Jin-hyung.”
“That’s what I thought.”
The drinks arrive and the three men entangle themselves in a conversation about families, friends, and their time spent away from school.
“It’s going to be your last year of school, how do you feel about that?” Jin asks, as he takes a sip of his third beer that night.
Yoongi and Namjoon look at each other for a moment, knowing it’s going to be rough, but worth it.
“I think I’d be more at peace if I already had a job offer like Yoongi-hyung.” Namjoon eventually declared, looking at Yoongi teasingly, the older one understanding that there are no hard feelings.
“I haven’t even accepted yet.”
“That makes it worse!” Namjoon accuses him, throwing his hands up, as if he really can’t understand how in the world Yoongi wouldn’t just accept the job offer and have a secure future after graduating.
“I just don’t know if it’s the right thing for me. I always planned to go abroad again for a while after I finish school.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know. I just wish I would be in your position, that's all.” Namjoon fake sulked, while taking another sip of his drink.
“What about you, hyung.” Namjoon turned his head to look at their friend. “You’re going to start work soon, are you excited?”
“Ah Namjoon-ah, I thought you would never ask.” Jin smiled, clearly happy the attention shifted onto him.
He told them about how he’s very confident that he can do a good job and ready to proof to his family that his degree in Culinary Arts wasn’t useless after all. And in the end, if his cooking is not enough, he simply plans on becoming the restaurant's new trademark because of how handsome he is.
“No but seriously, I’m scared shitless.” He concluded his monologue and the three of them laughed.
They laughed a lot that evening. Yoongi had known that he missed his friends, but now that he was here with them, he realized just how much. He would never admit that, though. There’s just this easiness about their interactions, which makes Yoongi forget about all the things he should actually be worrying about at this moment.
He appreciated the dim yellow light in the bar, the faint music that was playing in the background, the way Namjoon’s gray turtleneck hugged his neck perfectly, and how Jin’s eyes glow when he talks about his niece he got to spend time with during the break. And he appreciated the warm and reassuring feeling in his chest that made him understand that he’s about to enter the last year of his university experience and that he didn’t know yet if he was ready for it to end. All these uncertainties made that moment whole for Yoongi, because there’s a beauty in not knowing what is about to happen.
