All 6 of the Avengers as well as Captain Carter, Peter Parker and Wanda Maximoff were staying at Clint’s farm for a few months to lay low, all getting closer again and becoming that little family they used to be, specifically Natasha and Peggy.
It was currently a cold, lazy Saturday in late November, and Natasha was currently sat on a tree swing drinking a beer and watching her girlfriend chop wood for the fire later tonight. Peggy’s chopping wood attire was one of Natasha’s favourite looks, hair pulled back into a messy ponytail, combat boots, cargo pants and a t-shirt that revealed just enough muscle.
“Talia, darling, you’ve been oogling me for 45 minutes, are you not bored?” Peggy questioned, leaning against the axe she was using and blowing a stray hair from her face which was now a light pink and laced with sweat.
“How could I get bored when I’m staring at the most beautiful piece of art God has ever made?” Natasha shot back with a giddy smile on her face which soon fell when she realised everyone was listening to her and awing. “Alright, alright shows over.”
“No it’s cute, you guys are cute together.” Wanda said with a warm smile, looking up from the daisy chain she was making. It was hard for Wanda to fit in because the only person close to her age was Peter, who was mostly still a kid to everyone, despite there still being a few years difference between them.
Everyone went back to doing their things until Laura called everyone in for food. They spent this time eating, drinking and laughing, and by the time they were done, the sun was setting and there were still a handful of things to do. They were probably going to have to do it the next day since everyone was intoxicated or feeling buzzed.
“I’m going to go and feed the baby cows, since it’s time for their evening feed.” Laura spoke, her newborn beginning to cry as soon as she finished her sentence. She let out a breathy sigh, shoulders slumping down. Peggy thought she was going to cry so she offered to feed to cows for her while she sorted the kids out.
“Nat do you mind showing Peggy how to do it?” Laura asked apologetically. Natasha accepted and looked at her girlfriend and nodded towards the door. On the way out, after putting on their gloves, they linked hands and swung their arms slightly. It was a sweet sight.
When they arrived at the barn, Natasha grabbed the bottles of milk they needed for the cows and began to show Peggy the correct way to feed them. The brunette quickly picked up on how to do it and she felt very happy in that moment, laughing every time a cow got a bit excited and pushed her over. Natasha admittedly had taken a few pictures of the sight because it was too cute for her not to.
When they arrived back into the house and out of the cold, faint music was playing through the house. Natasha excitedly pulled Peggy into the living room, begging her to dance with her. Peggy reluctantly agreed, having not danced in many decades. The next song that started was slow, so they decided to slow dance.
[“I can’t quit you,
Like I can’t quit skin,
That’s on my bones.
I cant quit you,
Like a hummer just
can’t quit his hum…”]
Natasha mumbled the lyrics into Peggy’s ear as they danced, making her tear up.
When the song was over, they both pulled away and kissed each other for the first time in what felt like eternity.
“I love you so much Margaret Elizabeth Carter.” Natasha announced when she pulled away.
“I love you more, Natalia Alianovna Romanov.”
