Bumpy Roads

Summary:

The story of how Seraphine found herself wrapped up in the world of K/DA, particularly in Ahri and Evelynn's corner of it.

Notes:

okay so, quick explanation! one of K/DA sera's descriptions says she has spent time after graduating high school working on music and that *now* she has finally made her debut with the group, implying she's definitely over 18 (also with how she has travelled alone and lives in her own apartment). i headcanon her to be around 20 or 21 in that skin. soo yeah! just wanted to clarify <3

Chapter 1: In the Dark

Chapter Text

To the public eye, the world of K/DA was an unpredictable one, which became evident when the famed K-Pop group decided to have a young indie artist feature on their EP’s signature song, MORE. It was true many people had hoped for the collaboration, knowing Seraphine’s longtime love for the girl group, but no one could’ve ever dreamed of that hope turning into a reality. The rising star constantly posted pictures of her with the famed group, but eventually those pictures started to feature two members in specific, and the public eye couldn’t get their minds off of it.

Ahri and Evelynn. Typically, most people would brush this off as the indie artist choosing to take pictures with her two favorite members of K/DA, and that wouldn’t be far fetched at all; however, it wasn’t uncommon for others to believe the idea that the three were something more. The group wasn’t unfamiliar with accusations like those, but it seemed as though they had been getting less discrete after ALL OUT’s release. Kai’sa and Akali’s relationship had never once been a secret, but Ahri and Evelynn’s was more implied than anything else. Sometimes Evelynn’s hands would linger on Ahri’s waist for a bit too long after Red Carpet photoshoots, and other times the two would simply lean on each other during interviews to simply enjoy the feeling of it.

The truth? Of course the two were together. It was perfect for a while, there was nothing further that needed to be discussed, but everything changed after a certain starry-eyed girl came into the picture. Seraphine’s journey into the group’s world wasn’t an unpleasant one, but it wasn’t any less confusing.

—————————————

It was 11:00PM. Usually, the indie artist would be fast asleep, but her nerves were begging to differ. It was her first night in the K/DA mansion and she had been given her own room to sleep in, since none of them (including herself) were particularly keen on having three people fit into one bed. Nonetheless, it was nice to have the privacy. Looking around, blue eyes scanned every crevice of the room that was visible to her; one of her guitars was hanging on the wall, her laptop was sitting crooked on a desk, and…

Ugh!

Seraphine sighed defeatedly to herself. She truly couldn’t fall asleep, but she didn’t want to wake anyone up, so she decided to do what any girl her age did when they couldn’t sleep: get a late night snack. The rising star exited her room as quietly as she could, grateful for the doors being such high quality they didn’t squeak. The hallways were decorated with mirrors, and several framed photos of the four girls together. The photos sparked interest in Seraphine, and as she studied them more, she saw more of the two couples’ photos together; Kai’sa and Akali’s viral pictures together of them on their first date, never-before-seen photos of Evelynn and Ahri together at some type of carnival, and many more. It made Seraphine grin, she loved the idea of love, let alone seeing representation through her musical inspirations.

Once Seraphine made her way to the kitchen, she found out that she wasn’t the only one with this idea, but seeing this person in particular having the same idea as her surprised her.

As if she could hear the younger girl’s thoughts, the one already standing in the kitchen turned around. Glowing amber eyes met glistening aqua ones, and it made Evelynn smile. “Can’t sleep either?”

With a light shake of her head and a faint chuckle, Seraphine responded with a no, and walked over to the diva. “What snacks do you recommend, chef?”

Evelynn rolled her eyes, aware that her choice of chips and sparkling water was being taunted, “Oh, you’re a funny one, aren’t you.” After a bit of silence, the diva answered the lingering question in the air, “You can help yourself to anything. None of us mind, really. You’re at home now.”

The last sentence made Seraphine beam, her heart skipping a few beats. The indie artist wouldn’t consider herself someone who lacked friends necessarily, but she longed for the type of connection where she felt like she was home, yet Evelynn merely just wanted to sound kind. Either way, it made the girl happy. “Thank you!” With that, she made her way to the fridge and searched for something she’d enjoy.

Little did she know, there was a certain diva furrowing her brow over their small interaction. As many knew, Evelynn and Ahri had been head over heels for each other for as long as they knew each other, however the public failed to mention that the two were very open in their relationship. There had been plenty of instances where the two would find one other person on their nights out to join them, but the fact that this was crossing Evelynn’s mind in the first place was troubling her. Seraphine was simply out of the question. Besides, what interaction did the two even have for her to be thinking of such a thing? Two sentences wasn’t exactly enough to suffice that. And–

“Did Kai’sa make this cake all by herself? I didn’t know she baked too!”

That voice interrupted Evelynn’s thoughts. Right, snacks. The diva put on a wide grin, “She did! Kai’sa’s the only chef we need in our lives.”

“That’s amazing! I definitely need to talk to everyone else more…I’m so glad I got to talk to you though!”

What a ray of sunshine. Evelynn could swear she was getting sick at Seraphine’s radiance. She loved it.

“So…” Her voice took a playful turn, “Am I allowed to ask about you and Ahri?”

Evelynn could talk about that topic all day. “Depends who you’re telling.”

“Oh, come on! No one, cross my heart!”

“What is there to tell? We love each other, simple as that. I give her the push she needs, and she gives me the push I need.”

“Well, obviously, but I mean like…what is it like being so in love with someone?” Seraphine perched her face on one of her hands, “I’ve always wanted your type of love.”

That took Evelynn by surprise. “You mean, you’re not with anyone right now?”

“No!”

“Your fans sure think differently.”

The indie artist giggled, “You’re talking about Ben, I know it. See, I’m very open with my fans, but I’m…not exactly sure if I’m into guys or not.”

Bingo. That’s the answer the diva wanted to hear. “Darling, we could tell.”

Seraphine’s eyes seemed to pop out of their sockets, “What do you mean?! Is it really that obvious?”

Evelynn decided it was time to take her chance. Leaning a little bit closer to Seraphine, she smirked and said nothing else.

As expected, the younger one got flustered, stumbling to come up with words.

The diva sneered, “And you still have the nerve to ask if it’s obvious?” She got closer to Seraphine, deciding to test her limits, “Doesn’t this make it clear?”

“I-I…” Her breath hitched, worried to make the wrong move, or say the wrong thing.

“It’s okay, honey, you’ll come around.” With that, Evelynn seemed to glide away from where the two were standing, making her way back to her bedroom, leaving Seraphine a confused mess.

Wasn’t the diva already with Ahri? Was Evelynn cheating ?! No, that didn’t seem right. Although Evelynn may have had an infamous reputation, she would never do such a thing. What did it mean then?

Whatever it meant, that was an issue for future Seraphine. Present day Seraphine would focus on the chocolate cake she was letting her frustrations out on.
