Work Header

Here it comes around again.

Summary:

How idiotic.

That you would accept turning into me.

I could never be afraid of becoming you.

You've shown me what life after will be.

Notes:

Alpha was just the first official angsty version of the MC I've encountered blind.

Lucia: Not afraid of the punishing Virus

Alpha: You're correct and also an idiot

or: Me and my idiot of a younger sister

Chapter 1: Living Vicariously

Chapter Text

The two of them stood on opposite sides of the room which held them and the commandant. Clear sight was established for the both of them.

She held her sword in her arm as the other left theirs inside the sheath, two different styles of combat. It was a forgone conclusion on who would win but the real question would be how long she would last.

Must we?

Yes.

They both got into their stances before fighting for reasons unknown to them at this current moment.

It just felt like the right thing to do at the time.

Because…

I am me.

And I am you.

For that we must commit to our roles.

The first thing Lucia hears since her awakening is the revving of an engine, for some reason it makes her feel warm and giddy at the memory.

On the other side of this connection she can feel confusion at the connection which was established not by herself or even an attempt to forcefully connect.

Happyness.

Something she never thought she would experience again even if it came from someone else on this line of theirs.

Frustration.

Something she feels at their inability to close the connection between the two of them, yet this feeling is familiar. Just out of her reach she might find something.

Something larger than just frustration but without the right memory she will never understand the truth.

Betrayal.

Just like they had done leaving her for the corruption to do whatever it would to her body, if only she hadn't survived. Babylonia could only wish she hadn't survived the betrayal.

Shock.

The higher ups of Babylonia left a construct to die? Surely it must've been a situation where there was no other choice, yet she can't help but feel as if that was wrong.

Confusion.

How can some unknown construct have the same feelings as herself at the revelation of these feelings she would rather not relive? Unless…

Babylonia.

This connection of theirs turns hostile as one end of the line embodies the color red, for as much as she would want to pull away she finds herself unable to out of some morbid curiosity.

Bloodshed.

She can hear how they cut down the corrupted in front of them with a lot more effort than is needed. They must have slaughtered a ton of corrupted by how long the blade sings.

Concern.

She doesn't want to experience these emotions once more, and least of all pity for the little offshoot of what she assumes to be the case.

Lucia.

That's who she is… and yet she finds that on the other side of the connection is also Lucia.

How?

She has to be the original since she had long still survived before establishing this connection a few moments ago, Lucia can't find it in herself to disagree despite the memories trying to point her in another direction.

Luna?

Those memories are guarded yet she has the feeling of relief coming straight for her to her heart, even then she wants to be mad.

Mine.

Luna is her sister, and not a sister of the clone of herself, only she can claim to truly be the one that had almost taken her life only to be convinced by her sister.

Memories.

The feelings of their missions wash over them both yet hers continue on for longer as she experiences new scenarios completely foreign to herself when she sees the truth.

Virus.

Yes.

It throws her for a loop when she feels comfort at those words which should break any babylonian loving construct. They were taught from conception.

You are me.

She can feel how that thought makes the construct feel safe in the fact that she will not truly die should she be corrupted. Those memory banks must've come to some Insane conclusion.

I am you.

How can she claim to be similar? Constructs and weapons can not coexist, Lucia can not straddle the line between. Only one or the other.

Luna? Sisters?

No one else mattered except for her, they were not just friends. Roland and Gabriel matter not to her.

Ascendant.

It was somehow not the scariest thing in the world.
