The Wind Navigators

Summary:

The crew was gathered drinking on deck by the moonlight. They told various stories of the sea, from their own experiences to legends.
—I heard that The Wind Navigators are around these seas. —Daniel says in a macabre tone.
—That's bullshit, there aren't strong winds around here. —Martín responds with his characteristic skepticism.
—Why though? Are they pirates that only appear in windstorms? —Luciano then asks to the surprise of all the buccaneers.
—Don’t tell me you've never heard of The Wind Navigators?
Luciano shakes his head negatively. Everyone then straightens up to recount the most famous haunting tale of the seas.
—They have no name, but everyone calls them The Wind Navigators, because once a colossal wind blew a set of several ships and only they, by learning how to control the wind, survived. Since then, every strong wind would be an omen for their presence.
—Ok, but why fear them? —He asks.
—Because they own the biggest ship with the biggest amount of cannons of all ships. Crossing their path means death for every pirate.
—Good thing we're not every pirate. —Martín then responds with an audacious sarcasm and everyone starts laughing as they toasts their mugs.

Chapter Text

The morning sunshine entered the room, its ceiling was old with worn plaster that gave view of the roof tiles, it was a simple room, it had a chest, a desk, two nightstands, a solitary chair, a mirror cracked in half and a double bed.
From the said bed, a dark messy hair emerges from the ragged-stained blankets.
—Good morning Luciano. —Martín said, appearing from the other side of the bed.
—'Morning. —Luciano was smiling, his face reflected against the sunlight.

Ocaso approached, pressing his face to the brunette's, both enjoying the warm presence. The hands now combed the tangled fluffy hair. In return, caresses from under the covers were given around the blonde's arm and waist.
Luciano's hands were light and caressed as soft as the wind, Martín closed his eyes for a second and imagined himself sleeping to a breeze of the sea.

He opened his eyes when felt the warm touch disappear from his skin, da Silva then placed his hands below the head sighing lazily as he stared at Martín with his dark and bright eyes.
—Pretty. —Martín notices a bracelet on Luciano's wrist, in fact it was the first time he had seen the brunette without his long sleeved shirt.
—It sure is. —Luciano then takes off one his hands from under the ears and rotates it watching the beads swing.
—Was it a gift? —Ocaso takes one of the beads, pulling the dark arm close, analyzing the intertwined geometric pattern.
—Close... An inheritance. It was my mother's.
—Ahh… I wish had some keepsake from my mother. —Martín lets out a sigh, still rolling his fingers on the bracelet.

Luciano looked at the blonde with a certain affection, as if in complete tranquility with everything that was happening around them. After some time he decides to break the silence:
—What was her name? —The question was vague, but Ocaso seemed to understand what he was referring to.
  —Ayelén. And yours?
  —Potira.
—You're the first and last person I'll tell this.
—Then your mother's name is sealed.

The brunette lifts his torso, approaching the green eyes that intently watched him. Finally a hot, burning kiss.
Ocaso's lips were hungry and sometimes so intense that the tongues couldn't keep up.
They realized in that moment that no one could dance with their mouths like Martín and no one could replace Luciano in the burning feelings, it was just how it should be.

At that moment for da Silva, the haunting of his first love, the blond Alfred, suddenly didn't make sense anymore, not even the fear of being heartbroken, it was all suddenly worth it, Martín was Martín and nobody in the world would be better than him in all of Luciano's moves. It was that simple, like the earth was round and the sky was blue. The lips opened and closed as the tongues flicked back and forth, and each time the lips felt like separating, a bite brought them back. It was possible to one taste the other's mouth.

Luciano's back started to hurt from being in that position, so with great regret the two had to separate. The brunette gets out of bed stretching lazily.
Rubbing his eyes unpretentiously, he watches the window and slowly notices a movement outside, suddenly horses with uniformed men start to arrive in fast gallops while commands are being given.
  —Martín…
—What? —The pirate realized something was wrong the moment he heard his lover's tone.
Da Silva quickly starts to get dressed, buttoning his pants carelessly, he grabs the flintlock under the pillow and fastens it behind his back, finally, Ocaso gets up and, looking out the window, does the same.

—Shit. How did they find us?
—That kid from yesterday —The one with dark eyes recalls a kid who chased them, asking the two to sneak him into the cabaret.
—Little bastard. Ok... We wait for them to come and when they all come in, we'll go out by the window. —Martín proceeds to tie the sheets to the blankets.
  —Right. — Luciano helps him.

When the officers arrived in the room by breaking down the door, the two pirates were nowhere to be found, leaving only one window open and a blanket tied over the edge.

Martín manages to tame one of the uniformed horses and, without wasting time, Luciano climbs onto the back while the guards went downstairs.
A chase erupts through the streets of Sunrise Hollow Islands where six officers are chasing two runaway pirates.
When crossing an avenue the brunette manages to take down one of the uniformed men with a straight shot.
—In the end all those hours training your aim paid off —The one with the green eyes exclaims when he hears a horse screaming.
—See? I've told you my aim wasn't a problem.

They manage to outwit the uniformed and safely arrive at the port. Heading towards Solsticio they encountered an unexpected personality.

—Luco? — It was said with joy, the person turned around to look better.
  —Alfred?... Hey!...

—Ah, so this is the famous Alfred? —Ocaso says in a curious tone with a hint of sadism.
—The man himself, and you? —Alfred then shakes the other blonde's hand.
  —Martín Ocaso.
—Please to meet ya. And as for you Luciano, you really didn't die! Wow... —Alfred said in a less friendly tone as he looked Martín from up and down.
—How rumors travel fast in these seas. —Luciano replied, not showing his embarrassment.
—And how they do! Well, I need to get going. Send my regards to Itzel and... What was the other's name... Juan Pedro?... It doesn't matter, See you later!

Luciano had to lightly slap Martín so he wouldn't lose track by going feral at the one who was already disappearing between the ships. The brunette wouldn't lie, Alfred was a total asshole. But something else worried him.

They boarded Solsticio with Luciano still apprehensive the whole time. Pensive with a frown, he begins to babble in his native accent:
  —Como? Como ele sabia?
—Eh, maybe he recognized me from somewhere. —Martín ends up hearing the mumbling.
  —Maybe...Or... No…!
  —What?
  —Lian.
  —The emissary you slept with?
—She saw me hanging out with Dani and Sebas that afternoon.
—Argh, can't you just ignore that guy, he just wanted to- — Martín was saying until being interrupted by Sebastián who was approaching.
—Where's the rest of the crew?
—I don't know, we thought everyone was already here. —The brunette answers.
—I see. Sorry, I interrupted somethi- —The youngest one was already apologising but he didn't need to finish.
—No, you didn't Sebas, it was nothing. Where's Dani?
—He's in the kitchen. I was going to help him...
—No need, I'll go. —Luciano completed.

So he withdrew himself, going down the stairs towards the kitchen.

Arriving there, he finds Daniel and Francisco Burgos Torres, a man with brown hair, who had a remarkable ability to recognize sea currents given the movement of the turtles (he says it's a tradition from his island that preserved some ancestral knowledge), eyes the same color as the hair, and Luciano thought that he was a very funny guy, mostly because when drunk his lively personality emerge and on several nights they, along with other drunken pirates, went out to vandalize and sometimes loot Capital's ships.

  —Good morning, Lu! —Daniel greets.
  —'Día! Dani, Pancho!
—What's up? You're making that "trouble face" of yours, Luciano. —Daniel said, giving him a carving knife and a bag of carrots —Man, I've already told you to stop eating avocado with sugar. —Added with a scolding tone, then looked to the side to see Francisco make a disgust face and look at Luciano with a strange gaze.

  .

  .

—And I've already told you that sweet avocado is delicious and completely normal, you are the weirdos.
—Dani… Are you sure it's a good idea to have this guy in the kitchen? —”Pancho” then says looking at the younger one.
—Great question. —Ocaso sighs in defeat. —He already cutted half the carrots, so there's no time to kick him out of here anymore, Pancho.
Luciano just stuck his tongue out as an answer to their “perverse” conversation.
