Work Text:
Yoko had always loved Enid.
She loved that bright smile, those bluest eyes, and her knack for turning any miserable thing she lay her eyes on into something - colourful.
She knew where it begun but not where it ends - her attraction, feelings, her unspoken devotion towards the werewolf-embodiment of the sun. The ball of fiery mass that is known to be the cause of lethal injuries and death to her kind, the one that shone bright rays to irritate her sensitive eyes, the very same one that she could compare to her dear friend.
The sun that she could admire from afar, or else she'd burn and turn into ashes.
But so far her go-plan to avoid that scenario has completely thrown itself off of her shaded window, because no matter what she does - the vampire could never resist the tempting opportunities that let her be around her sun.
They'd become the best of friends during their early years in Nevermore, she felt rather amused at the fact that a cold and quite literally heartless being had proven herself to be capable of being anything other than sarcastic and rude. Two things that Yoko never was, the stereotypes were always wrong - Enid herself knew that.
Enid was shy at first, she was timid and rather anxious when Yoko first laid her eyes on the blonde. In a new environment, a place where she is told that she would be among people that are like her, told that they would surely understand her situation and all.
But boy, could they be more wrong than that?
Enid was bullied, by the very own people who she was taught that would accept her for who she is.
She is a late-bloomer for a werewolf, covered herself in colorful outfits and accessories, admittedly has more energy than an athlete after an energy drink - she wouldn't be an outcast if she were in normie school, normies love people like Enid. Why is it that the school of outcasts demean her so?
Yoko didn't like it. They dimmed out the bright smile of the sun that she longed to care for.
One time after an incident whereas Enid had burst into her dorm room - looking like a sobbing mess of fluff, she felt her barely-beating heart ache at the sight. She had rushed to her side, the blonde loved physical affection whenever she felt distressed.
"I'm.. I'm sorry Yoko I- I just-" Her hiccups couldn't be helped, she melted into the cold-blooded vampire's arms.
"Shh, it's okay. You're safe here, my little wolf."
Enid clung onto Yoko for dear life, and they stayed there for awhile until the girl felt better. She slept over, and it was a comforting thought to Yoko that she brought a sense of safety to her sun.
The very next day, the perpetrators were suspended for the time being. Enid was confused as to why that happened, no one would ever want to report a case of 'playing around' with werewolves to be a bullying issue. But either way.. she felt safer, knowing that there are less people that could harm her.
Yoko simply gave her a shrug when the blonde looked her way with a curious look to her beautiful features, sipping a juicebox with her treat inside. She took care of it while Enid was asleep, it was better that she didn't know.
After that, less people had bothered Enid in a way that it hurt her to the point of tears. They knew who did it, and Yoko made sure that if anyone dared to do such thing while she was around - they would find themselves at the very bottom of the social hierarchy of Nevermore. Or they get suspended, whatever works.
Yoko seemed very unassuming especially if you've only heard or seen her for the first time, a relaxed and laid-back vampire who seems like she genuinely does not give a fuck to anyone. And in-person she is quite the charmer, her voice was smooth as butter and clear as if you were listening to a podcast late at night.
It was evident that Yoko Tanaka would be desired by many, but she turned them all down.
Enid Sinclair was the only one who has caught her eye, and has never let go since.
The girl eventually - slowly, but surely, got over that phase of her life where she felt like the world was pressing down upon her for being different. She rose high up the hierarchy in Nevermore, started a blog of her own and gained the respect and trust of those who she came in contact with - people started to notice Enid.
Because Enid Sinclair is the sun, and everyone else belongs to the Solar System because she is there.
Yoko wishes to be closer. To feel the heat radiate off of her lifeless body.

Here came Wednesday Addams.
The reason why Enid came running, again - towards her dorm room, tears threatening to spill from her blue eyes as she hastily dragged her things with her. She didn't need to knock, with how many times she walked the same path just to see Yoko, she practically earned herself a key to the dorm room itself.
Heavy thuds came as footsteps, a very upset Enid opened the door while her suitcase hits the (thankfully carpeted) floor - the werewolf swung herself onto the vampire's bed, face hitting the soft pillow first along with the rest of her slightly shaking body. It was concerning, Enid hadn't been this upset since that one incident.. Addams had done something again.
"Hey.." She starts, voice soft and controlled as to not frighten the sobbing blonde, she gently combed her hand through those golden locks as Enid sobbed her eyes out on Yoko's bland pillow. Once more, her heart ached for her sun.
Enid looked up, peeking from one eye that was reddening from her continuous crying. She and Yoko shared a look before the blonde's arms were wrapped around the other girl's neck as an attempt to find comfort - a sense of familiarity that Enid always seems to crave.
Yoko was the exact thing that Enid had needed every time she ended up like this. And she was forever grateful.
"Did something happen?"
"..mhn, just some stupid fight with Wednesday.." She heard her utter beside her ear.
"Hmn? Again?"
"Yeah.. she's still - urgh.. stubborn as hell. We nearly died this time Yoko!"
"There there." Yoko patted her back and rubbed circles around her spine, although her clothes were a bit thick she could still feel Yoko's precise movements and her very cold body temperature.
"She doesn't even want me there.. why do I want to stay so bad?"
Yoko was silent on that one, she concluded that Enid has caught romantic feelings for her roommate - and she doesn't object or say a word until the girl herself comes to realize it on her own terms.
Nor will she try to stop Enid from pursuing Wednesday, but if it means that she will get hurt by doing so - maybe Yoko ought to pull a few strings.
"Take a break from her, Enid." I'm here for you.
"I guess that's the best decision I could make.."
"But make sure she doesn't like, die or anything." I know how you feel about her, and I will support you with that.
"Urh.. yeah.. yeah! I'll do that."
Enid's grip loosens and eventually she pulled away from Yoko, now calm and slightly better than she had been a few moments ago.
She heaved a breath, closing her eyes and slowly resting her head by the vampire's shoulder - nose by the crook of her neck and looking rather comfortable. She could stay like that for awhile.
"Hey, Yoko." Enid murmurs.
"Hmn?" Enid feels an arm wrap around her own shoulders, despite being cold - her own body warmth seemed to overflow in contrast with such a cold body.
"Thank you. I love you."
"I love you too, my little wolf."
Yoko would never admit it, as long as her wolf is alive, well, and happy.
For an eternity she shall wait, until the end of time..
The world will know that Yoko Tanaka had loved Enid Sinclair, in this life or the next.
