Work Text:

“ah, rui, the storm is not seeming to calm down… i think you may need to stay over tonight…” tsukasa sighed, already tired from writing shows.

rui looked pleased at the idea. “what a great idea, as expected of our star.”

“well if you’re okay with it, i’ll make some food for us both.” tsukasa said.

*cut to before bed, around 10 pm*

tsukasa had set up some sleeping bags on his bedroom floor. rui would have stayed up later, but tsukasa forced him to sleep.

which didn’t exactly last.

rui was suddenly awakened by a familiar feeling. a stir in his stomach, all to familiar, shot him up in a panic. he’s going to throw up. throw up. gonna throw up. before he knew it, he was completely out of it and knew nothing but his own heavy breathing.

tsukasa awoke and almost immediately realized the stirring of the other boy.

“rui?” tsukasa said groggily. the moment he heard their heavy, labored breathing he practically jumped out of bed. “rui?! are you feeling okay??” he asked frantically. rui didn’t stop hyperventilating though. tsukasa went to turn on the lamp in the corner so he could actually see rui.

when tsukasa looked back at rui, the first thing he saw was the way he was shaking so violently. and when he moved closer, the look on his face answered everything in his head.

“rui, can you hear me?” tsukasa asked softly. rui tried to speak, but nothing would come out. “i’m not sure what’s happening, but i need you to try and breathe slower,” tsukasa whispered.

“don’t feel good. feel like ‘m gonna throw up,” rui shakily whispered.

it all made sense to tsukasa now. “do you need water or anything?”

rui suddenly panicked more, “n-no! can’t,”

“alright love. lets just try to breathe, alright?” tsukasa said comfortingly. he took rui’s hand, squeezing it lightly. he moved their hand to his chest, and started breathing slowly. it took a few minutes, but rui’s breathing slowed and his mind cleared.

rui turned to face tsukasa, still shaking. tsukasa grabbed his other hand.

“rui, are you alright? you said your emetophobia hasn’t been bad for a while,” tsukasa asked worriedly.

rui hummed softly, “it really hasn’t been. this just came out of nowhere.”

“hm. would you feel okay drinking some water yet?” tsukasa asked.

“yes, that would be nice actually.”

tsukasa got up, “alright then, i’ll be right back.”

after a few minutes, tsukasa returned with a glass of water. he had to assist rui in holding it though, as their hands were still very shaky.

when rui finished the glass of water, tsukasa placed it on a table nearby.

tsukasa yawned. “rui, it’s still very late. shall we go back to sleep?”

rui looked up at tsukasa, looking much calmer than he did a little while before. “why yes, tsukasa-kun. we have rehearsal tomorrow!” he said in a way tsukasa usually would. tsukasa flicked the lamp off, and got back into his sleeping bag.

“rui, c’mere,” tsukasa mumbled. rui settled in his arms, allowed himself to be held to tsukasa’s chest. tsukasa pressed a kiss into the crown of their head. “goodnight rui, i love you.”

“goodnight, tsukasa-kun. i love you too.” rui smiled into tsukasa’s chest, drifting off to sleep.
