Work Text:
TK hears Nancy and Marjan playfully jabbing each other behind him while he stairs at his reflection in the gilded frame. His Linen Suit Jacket is clean and crisp with a baby blue pocket square peeking out (something blue & borrowed) just enough to coordinate with the soft topaz cuff links that Enzo had fashioned for him out of his mothers old earrings (something old). Gabriel leant TK the pocket square so the borrow was also covered, which left the something new.
TK looked down as he fiddled with the clasp on the watch that was lying on the Kitchen island when he got home from his shift last night with a note from Carlos:
Mi Amor,
I cannot wait to profess my love to you in front of all our friends and family tomorrow evening. These next few hours will be the longest of my life.
I love you so very much Tyler Kennedy.
Te amo gusto,
Carlos
Did TK cry then? Yes. Did he tear up again showing Nancy and Marjan and his 1/2 of the wedding party (his father, Enzo, Grace, Tommy, Judd) also yes.
He heard it click into place and with that time around him seemed to slow down
‘Some times I wish that could freeze the picture, and save it from the funny tricks of time’
“My sweet boy, look at you. You’re all grown up.” TK looked up at the familiar voice of his mother and saw her approach from behind in the mirror. She wrapped her fingers around his shoulders like she used to when he was in private school and was learning to tie his ties.
“Mom, you…you’re here. But how?”
“Shhh, my sweet boy what does it matter? Did you really think I would miss the most important day of your life?”
“Mom…I…I miss you so much…” he can barely get the words out around the tightness in his throat. “It’s not fair, you should be here.”
“Oh TK, don’t you see. I am here. I’m always here. Right here.” She moved her left arm around him and placed her left hand softly over his heart hovering ever so softly above his heart. She smiles at him and he swears that she’s crying.
‘Slipping through my fingers…’
