Chapter Text
In an unassuming, plain little town sat dab smack in the middle of nowhere, Shane Pendromidous lived through the same daily routine.
He got the same coffee every morning and went to the same Walmart to clock in the same amount of hours he always works. He takes a break at the same time each day and ends work at the same time each night.
He returned to the same apartment by following the same path and slept in the same bed. At least the people weren’t always the same. The town, despite its odd location, was a hot spot for tourists. It was a halfway point to the city that was dozens of miles away.
People came and went, but still, nothing monumental changed. Everything remained the same.
Until one utterly boring evening, when something did change. When Shane wished for something interesting, or new, to happen, he’d meant something along the lines of winning the lottery, or suddenly inheriting a large sum of money from an aunt or uncle that he never knew he had. What he hadn’t meant was for that “something” to upheave his entire routine.
Least of all, he didn't expect to find himself at the mercy of a bloodthirsty creature, that
was certainly not a bear,
near the end of his shift.
