Your pod opens. She's standing in front of it, wearing a pair of bulky red gloves. Some sort of thick, rough material, visibly singed in places. "Mornin'! Did you have a good rest?"
"..." The question confuses you. "I was not conscious to observe it."
She rolls her eyes with a smirk. "You're all so stuffy. What I'm asking is, do you feel refreshed?"
"All systems are nominal, power reserves are near capacity."
"Yeah, I know, I saw the readout on the pod. Look, don't worry about it. I need to do a quick visual inspection, check for any minor damage to your outer shell. We don't know how long you were out on the street, anything could have happened."
"Nothing did. Others are usually too intimidated to come near me, and those that did regretted it."
"Well, you took a hit yesterday, didn't you?"
"Yes. A small one. No damage detected."
"Sure, sure, but I need to take a look all the same. Step forward for me."
You do so, and she reaches toward your chin. "Ah- Miss, I wouldn't-" you stop short and wince as her hand connects with your shell, preparing for the scream and the smell of burnt flesh. All you hear is a slight sizzling sound as she grabs your chin and turns your head left, then right. "Miss? How did you…?"
There's that smirk again. "These things are much sturdier than your average welding gloves, dear. You're not the only doll around here who's grown to be too hot to handle. Now, turn around for me." You obey, and after another brief moment of inspection she says, "Looks like you're in pretty good shape. Report to my office in 20 minutes and we'll get your training regimen started."
