“Hey, Meadowes. Can I talk to you?”
“Sure. What’s up, Mckinnon?”
“So.. Saturday we have a Hogsmeade trip. Do you want to go with me?”
“Like a date?”
“Yeah! I mean. sure if you want to, I don't want to force you or anything”
“I would love to go on a date with you! See ya, Marls”
Marlene didn’t know she was holding air until Dorcas left, she was so nervous but at the same time so excited, she’s going on a date with The Dorcas Meadowes!!
Of course a relationship between a gryffindor and a slytherin would be overlooked but she didn’t care at all because her friends supported her and that's what matters.
Dorcas was so excited she couldn’t stop smiling, her heart was beating so fast. Walking back to the slytherin table she could feel her friends’ eyes following her she knew what was coming.
“So??? What happened?” Barty said
“Yeah, what made you so smiley?” Evan asked putting down his fork
Regulus and Pandora, their honorary slytherin, only looked at her with their eyes shining with curiosity.
“Marleneaskedmeonadate”
“What?” this time Regulus asked
“I said: Marlene asked me on a date!!”
“Oh thank God she finally asked you” Evan said “How did it go?”
Dorcas sensed that Pandora was a little quiet, normally she would’ve made a snarky comment but they didn’t say anything.
“She asked me to go to Hogsmeade with her this Saturday and I’m so excited, you guys know I always had a crush on her”
“If you’re happy we are too” Pandora said quietly
That’s was all she said during breakfast and Dorcas was concerned but decided to let it go.

Saturday arrived and Marlene was almost shaking from excitement, she was getting ready when Lily entered the room.
“Hey, I heard you’re going on a date with Meadowes”
“Yeah! I’m so excited I waited the whole week for this moment”
“Uhm.. I hope you like your date, Marls”
“What’s up Lily? Are you okay? You know you’re my best friend you can tell me anything”
“No, I’m fine is just a cold, I’ll leave now and you better finish getting ready”
“Okay, please go see Madam Pomfrey! Love you bye”
“Love you too!”
Marlene finished getting ready and went downstairs to wait for Dorcas so they could go together. The plan was to take her to the three broomsticks and then honeydukes.
Coming at her direction she saw Dorcas, she was beautiful as always and she couldn’t take her eyes out of her. Everything she does mesmerizes Marlene, from the way she dresses up to the way she did her make up.
“Hi, Dorcas..”
“What? Why are you so shy”
“Nothing. You’re just so beautiful”
Dorcas noticed the truth behind those words, Marlene’s face was glowing.
“You’re not so bad yourself”
“Thanks! Shall we go?”
“Yes, come on”
Dorcas took her hand and they walked to the city, the height difference was so evident. Marlene was using docs but still smaller than Dorcas, and she found it cute.
“Where are we going first?”
“I was thinking maybe the three broomsticks?”
“Okay, I’m in need of a good butterbeer”
So they entered the pub and sat on the farthest table, Marlene offered to go order for their drinks.
“Sup Rosmerta! Can I have two butterbeers please”
“Hello, Marlene. Of course let me get the cups”
Marlene waits for a few minutes for the drinks
“Here you go, love. So if you don’t mind me asking, who’s the lucky girl?”
“Oh. I don’t mind at all, it's Dorcas. Do you remember her?”
“I do! She’s so pretty, I’m glad you finally asked her out”
“Me too! I will go now. I don't want to leave her waiting. Bye!!”
Making her way to their table she made eye contact with Dorcas, she still couldn’t believe this was happening.
“Here’s your drink”
“Thanks! Uhm.. I’m nervous, I wanted to ask you on a date for months now”
“Stop me too, I was so scared that you would decline you have no idea”
They chatted for what felt like hours and 4 butterbeers later they decided to leave and go to honeydukes.
This time Marlene was the one to take Dorcas’ hand and led the way to the store.
They parted ways and went looking for chocolates and candies so they could exchange, Dorcas took a bunch of chocolate frogs and candy canes.
After they paid for their things Marlene led them to a cave near the shrieking shack because she had brought blunts for them to smoke.
“Where are we?”
“We are in a cave, because I got us this” she showed the blunts “Have you smoked before?”
“All the time” Dorcas laughed “I’m friends with Barty, remember?”
“Oh yeah.. I got it from him by the way”
They laughed and talked, they didn’t even see the time passing. They were so happy and inside their own world.
“Here I got you these” Dorcas said
Marlene opened the bag and took one chocolate frog and took a bite. She giggled when she saw it was the Dumbledore card and threw it away.
She finished the chocolate looking at Dorcas, she was trying to memorize every single part of her face, she didn’t want to forget any details.
Dorcas placed her hands on both sides of Marlene’s face and asked
“Can I kiss you?”
Marlene was shocked, the words couldn’t leave her mouth, all she could do was just nod and then she felt Dorcas lips on hers. It was like she was in heaven, later she would describe it as the best sensation she ever experienced.
Dorcas Meadowes kissed her and she was kissing back like there was no time and there was only them in the world.
“Your kiss tastes like chocolate”
“Shut up and kiss me again, Meadowes”
And so she did. On their way back to Hogwarts they were walking closer and every time they would share a knowing look. Nothing could end their happiness.
Walking past the great hall they saw Lily and Pandora talking with each other almost whispering, they seemed really close and the only thing they could hear was
“I want to be able to take you on dates too, Lily. Why can’t you see that?”
“I know, love. I promise you that we will figure something out”
Lily sneaked a peck on Pandora’s cheek and they left. Marlene could only think about how Lily acted when she told her about her date, she wasn’t out yet.
Dorcas and Marlene made their way to Gryffindor's dorm to talk more, they didn’t want it to end. So they talked until the curfew and Dorcas had to go back to her dorm.
“I’ll see you tomorrow?” Dorcas asked putting her hands on Marlene’s hips and pulling her closer
“Of course you will. You’re not getting rid of me that easy” She said kissing Dorcas again
“Bye Mckinnon” she said pulling away
“Bye bye” Marlene said smiling

Next morning the two girls walked hand in hand in the great hall. It was official, they are a couple now.
They heard whistles and whispers, it was uncomfortable but they had each other. They gathered their friends saying they had an announcement, Marlene was the first one to speak
“So.. Dorcas and I we are together now and we expect respect from you”
“Yeah. We know that there’s a rivalry between our houses but we ask you to at least respect our decision”
“Is that all?” Barty said
“You gotta problem, Crouch?” Lily said
“No at all, Evans. Is just that we kind of already knew and just so you know we fully support them, in fact! I think it's time for you to know that I’m bisexual”
“Oh Bartemius, one day hanging out with gryffindors and you’ve gone soft!” Evan joked
“Shut up, cunt”
Marlene saw Pandora and Lily exchanging looks and all of the sudden she stands up and says
“Pandora and I have been dating for almost 3 months now, and we didn’t say anything because we were scared but I love them and I want to be able to show them off. There. I said it.”
Everyone was shocked by the sudden information but then they all congratulated them and they started talking about their experiences after coming out.
Dorcas held Marlene’s hand and kissed it. She could feel they would last forever and they would be happy, she could almost see their future together.

The year was 2013, they lived peacefully on the suburbs of london, they had a nice house and two dogs but never had children. Dorcas was sitting at their living room when Marlene barged into the house saying
“Dorcas! Dorcas!”
“What happened? Are you okay?”
“My love, we finally can get married!”
“What?”
“Yes! I just saw on the paper, it’s legal in England and Wales!”
“But we are old, are you sure?”
“I never have been more sure in my life than right now”
Marlene pulled a ring box out of her pocket and asked
“Dorcas Meadowes, will you marry me?”
“Yes! Yes I’ll marry you”
