Chapter Text
The Forgotten Jedi
A star Wars Fan Novel written by Andi Fox Pape
Ch. 1
The sands of the shallow canyon Xelric Draw whipped up in a frenzy, two humanoid figures rode on the back of a dew back through the sandstorm, shrouded in robes
A blonde haired human whose eyes were shrouded by goggles pulled a light brown woven scarf up around her nose and mouth and adjusted her brown robe hood so it sheltered more of her face.
“Crys! How’s your circuitry holding up?” She shouted over the howling wind, her voice strong, confident but with a hint of concern.. A brown and worn sepratist battle droid draped in a robe and wearing goggles clinging to her waist with a black rifle on its back answered back “The Robes and goggles are keeping most of the sand out, but I think I’ll need the rest of it cleaned out.”
“Not to worry Crys! We’ll be in Mos Espa shortly. That’s our first stop on our way to a soon to be acquaintance’s place.” a Holo device beeped in her pocket, she pulled it out and it projected a topographic map with a little red dot a ways away. She pulled the reins and steered the dewback left a little, the dew back bellowed and adjusted its course.
“Ame, you never told me who this acquaintance of yours is.” Crys yelled, trying to push its voice over the howling of the wind.
Ame turned to Crys, her dark grey blue eyes peering from behind the glass of the goggles. Her fair skin shined through the sand whipping around them. “He was once one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy; he nearly met his demise falling into the Pit of Carkoon after losing a fight with a Jedi Master and his acquaintances. I think the Jedi Master's name was Luke…something?” She thought for a moment then dismissed the effort “Anyways, it's none of my concern. The guy's name is Boba Fett, he just recently became Daimyo of Mos Espa, so he may be able to set us up with work and if we’re lucky and we get in his good graces, he may help us locate and recover our stolen ship.”
“And get me the rest of my parts?” Crys said eagerly.
“If not him, he will certainly point us in the direction we need to go.” Ame said with a slight nod, her blonde bangs shifted over her right eye and then began being blown every which way by the wind. A strong gust blew Ame’s hood right off her, revealing her platinum blonde hair, a fake braided ponytail clip that matched her hair sat high on the back of her head and draped down onto her right shoulder, Her short hair framed her face and two longer braids rested on either shoulder. “Jeez, this is quite the storm, at least the dewback seems to be handling it well.” The dewback bellowed as if in agreement.
“Roger, Roger.” Crys said in a robotic tone.
The holodevice in Ame’s hand beeped again, Ame looked down at it, brushing away some sand that was building up on its projector. “Just a little further to go, we should see one of Mos Espa’s entrances through the storm here shortly.” Ame reached into her canvas shoulder bag that was hidden under her robe and pulled out a pair of binoculars and peered through them.
Through the storm, sand colored buildings could be barely seen coming up on the horizon. Ame felt a rustling coming from inside the bag, putting the binoculars around her neck she gently patted the bag, “Hang in there Chrysalis, I know its cramped in there, but we’re almost to a safe location. We’ll pick you up some goggles in town once the storm settles.” A muffled bark and whimper could be heard through the canvas shoulder bag and the rustling stopped. It probably wouldn’t hurt to grab some food and lodging beforehand either. She thought to herself. “Hey Crys!” She yelled over the storm.
“What!” Crys yelled back
“We’re gonna stop and get some food before we head to Lord Fett’s Palace! We’ll wait out the storm at wherever we can grab a bite to eat, then get some lodging and clean ourselves up a bit before we greet him. Probably best we look as presentable as possible!”
“Roger, Roger!" Crys yelled
Ame gently hit her heels into the sides of the dewback, encouraging it to pick up the pace. It bellowed and picked up its pace a bit.
The entrance to Mos Espa was a grand gated arch, intricately carved and with two BIG square buildings on either side, no one but a lone New Republic officer wearing a scarf around his mouth and a set of flight goggles on his eyes clad in a grey cloak covering his blue republic officer uniform was guarding it. As they approached, the officer waved them over. They made their way over to the officer, “Quite the storm isn’t it?” The officer said, offering to help Ame off the dewback. Ame put the reins into her left hand and graciously accepted the officers help with her right. As she was pulled down off the dewback, her brown robe caught on the saddle, revealing a belted white tunic robe that should have sleeves, but they were very clearly ripped off to make the tunic a tank top, under the tunic was another brown tunic and then under that a black long sleeve fishnet shirt, on her neck a purple glowing crystal and a longer necklace that housed a long thin wire wrapped clear crystal that looked like it came off the tail of a Vulptex, brown pants, brown knee high boots, clipped on her waist was a black and silver metal tube that looked exactly like the hilt of a lightsaber.
The republic officer looked her over as she tugged at her robe to get it free from the saddle, Crys had to help to be able to get it fully unhooked.
“What business do the Jedi have here in Mos Espa?” The officer asked confused
“I have no idea, friend.” Ame said plainly. Looking at him.
“That’s a lightsaber on your waist isn’t it? Aren’t you a Jedi? You look like one…” he asked pointing at the metal tube on her waist.
“Former.” She said plainly again, still looking at the officer
By this time, Crys had dismounted the dewback and nudged Ame’s arm to tell her to give it the reins.
“Former?” He asked, highly confused, “Well, what's a former Jedi doing here in Mos Espa?”
“I’m here to rest, get a bite to eat and to wait out this storm before I make my way to Lord Fett’s palace. I hear Lord Fett has been a helpful sort of fellow for Mos Espa.”
“He certainly has, the people who live here adore him for what he did for them.” The officer said with a hint of pride and adoration.
“Officer, would you mind pointing us in the direction of a stable? And what recommendations do you make for food and lodging?” Ame asked impatiently, handing the reins over to Crys “We would very much like to get out of this storm as soon as possible. My companion Crys here probably can’t take much more sand in his circuits without causing hard to fix damage.” A muffled Bark and whimper came from Ame’s shoulder bag “And my other companion would like to get out of this bag as quickly as possible.” Ame patted the bag again.
“Right, right of course, my apologies, you’ll just need to come with me into this building behind me, so I can check everything out and verify you and your companions,”
Ame did not like this, she pulled her scarf down from her nose and mouth, summoning the force she waved her hand and spoke “You don’t want to check us in, You want to go back into your office and watch funny videos on the holonet.”
The republic officer's eyes gave a blank stare and he entered a sort of trance, repeating what she said back to her. Before he could turn and go back into his office Ame spoke one more time “You never saw us come through here and you forget you ever met us and had this encounter.”
“I never saw you and I will not remember” The officer said, still entranced, he walked into the building behind him and closed the door. Leaving Ame and Crys standing there with the dewback.
“Was that really necessary?” Crys asked
Ame pulled her scarf back up over her mouth and nose “Yes.”
Crys sighed.
Ame and Crys turned to the gate and Ame used the force to unlock and open it. As they walked through Chrysalis once again became restless in the bag and began barking and whining. “Just a little longer Chrysalis, We just entered the city." Ame tried calming the creature in her bag.
"Perhaps she has to use the bathroom?" Crys offered as an explanation.
"Well, do you?" Ame looked to the bag and chrysalis whined and barked again
"Well you should have just told me then! Don't just say let me out, let me out!" Ame sighed in frustration and Chrysalis let out an annoyed growl.
"Alright, I'm gonna leash you and then get you out of the bag, keep your eyes closed and as soon as I set you down; do your business and don't open them again until I say so okay? I don't want sand getting in and hurting your pretty blue eyes."
Ame reached into the bag careful to keep the top on and felt around Chrsyalis's crystal furred body, finding the rope that had a clip attached to it, feeling around Chrysalis's crystals on her neck, Ame found Chrsyalis's collar and hooked the leash to it.
"Alright now close your eyes." Ame waited a second till she heard a small bark and then lifted the Vulptex out of the canvas shoulder bag. Chrysalis crystals started making noise as the wind and the sand rustled through it, Ame patted her on the head, in between the crystals on her head behind her ears the red lights of cybernetics glistened through, causing the crystals over them to have a red glow to them.
Ame set Chrysalis down after making sure her eyes were closed, Chrysalis immediately squatted and peed, kicking sand over the puddle with her back legs once she finished.
"Feel better?" Ame asked the vulptex. Chrysalis's ears rotated to Ame's voice and Chrysalis turned to face Ame with her eyes still closed and nodded.
"Good, now I gotta put you back in the bag, the storm is still raging.”
The vulptex growled in annoyance, and as Ame picked her up, she went limp in protest.
“Oh stop this Chrysalis. This drama is unbecoming. Dramatic beast,” Ame gently shook chrysalis and then patted her on the head. “How about this, you can ride on my shoulders, BUT you need to keep your eyes closed.”
Chrysalis’s tail wagged and she suddenly sprung to life and jumped onto Ame’s shoulders, making herself comfortable. Ame confirmed that her eyes were still closed and the trio began to walk again.
The streets of Mos Espa were practically devoid of people, only a few brave souls braved being out in the storm. The first group they came across were a group of Jawa’s going through a cart of scrap. Ame spoke in the Jawa’s language, greeting them and asked where the best place to get a bite to eat was that allowed pets and pulled out her holodevice and projected a map of Mos Espa, The jawa’s pointed out a cantina called The Womping Womp Rat just a few blocks north from where they were standing. Ame then asked where the nearest Stable was and the Jawa’s pointed at a building just a few hundred feet from them. Ame thanked them and then turned to head to the stable.
“Why didn’t you ask them about lodging?” Crys asked
“We’ll ask at the Cantina.” Ame said back.
The trio walked to the stable, tying off the dewback to one of the posts inside, then entered the office.
A bell dinged as they opened the door. Once inside, Chrysalis stood up on Ame’s shoulders and shook off some of the sand that had built up on her, causing Ame to re-steady and position herself so the Vulptex didn’t fall off her shoulders.
“You can open your eyes Chrysalis, we’re inside now.”
The vulptex opened her eyes, which were a beautiful hue of electric blue.
“Welcom…..is that vulptex?!” a female voice off to the left exclaimed excitedly. A young pink twi’lek, probably in her 20’s clad in a beige tank top, brown pants and brown riding boots excitedly made her way up to the trio from behind a counter, staring at Chrysalis, who was visibly taken aback in surprise.
“Yes this is, Her name is Chrysalis.” Ame said calmly pulling down her hood, and scarf off her nose and mouth, she pulled her goggles down around her neck.
“Wow! I’ve never seen one in real life, granted I’ve never been off world to Crait, is…is she friendly?” The twi’lek’s eyes sparkled as she looked at Ame, and chrysalis looked the twi'lek up and down.
“That depends on if you’re friendly to us or not. She might let you pet her if you ask.” Ame carefully held the leash in her hand.
The Twi’lek turned her attention back to Chrysalis who seemed to calm down but looked cautiously at the twi’lek.
“May I pet you, Chrysalis?” the twi’lek held the back of her hand out to the vulptex, chrysalis leaned towards the hand, sniffing it for a second, before licking it. The Twi’lek giggled and run her hand gently on chrysalis’s head and then began scratching her chin, which the vulptex seemed to thoroughly enjoy.
“Oh wow their fur really is crystalized!” Suddenly the red glow from the vulptex’s cybernetics caught the twi’lek’s attention. “Whats that red glow on her?”
“She was illegally cybernized.” Ame explained
“What does the cybertech do?” the Twi’lek asked with concern in her voice
“It makes her more intelligent, about as intelligent as a human.” Ame explained further.
The Twi’leks eye widened “How did you come across her?”
“I rescued her from some smugglers in Mos Eisley. It was not a good experience for either of us, but we found each other, so it worked out in the end.”
FLASH BACK
Ame sat in the cockpit of a purple defender class light corvette, it had been remodeled and retrofitted numerous times, but still ran good. the com’s crackled to life and a male voice spoke over the speaker “This is Mos Eisley SpacePort , we have you tracked, you’re clear to land in Bay 7.” Ame hit a few buttons and flipped a few switches and guided her ship to bay 7, gently touching down on the sandy surface. She got out of her seat and opened the ramp, walking out of her ship. Ame was dressed in her white jedi robes, brown pants and brown boots, the sleeves were torn off the robes, her lightsaber displayed proudly on her side, Her short platinum blonde hair done in a fawk hawk was down and rested to the right, she was greeted by a human male with short brown hair and brown eyes dressed in an olive green mechanics suit, with the sleeves rolled up. a black hat rested on his head and his black boots poked out from under the suit's legs. “Welcome to Mos Eisley Jedi.” The hangar was crowded with random crates, boxes and spare parts, a Gonk droid and a couple Pit droids hurried to Ame’s ship.
Ame held up her hand “Former.” She corrected the mechanic.
“Former?” The mechanic laughed. “What, the order didn’t agree with you?”
“More like I didn’t agree with them or their rules.” Ame explained
The Mechanic raised an eyebrow “It takes a certain type of person to stick with the order, or so I hear. I’m sorry it didn’t work out.”
“Me too.” Ame said sadly. The order was her whole life, literally, she was taken when she was very young. She was very sad to leave, but it was the right choice.
“So what do you need?” The mechanic asked, deciding not to press further.
“Fuel, and a tune up, my sublight thrusters feel a little janky on the controls.”
“When’s the last time you had it tuned up?”
“I have no idea, I just acquired this ship.” Ame explained
“Alright, I’ll give it a full look over.” The mechanic pulled out a tablet and started poking at it.
Ame pulled a bag of credits out from her pant pockets and tossed it to the Mechanic who caught it rather clumsily. “Will this be enough to cover everything?”
The mechanic set his tablet down on a crate and opened the coin bag, poking through it, counting the credits.
“Yea, this’ll be enough. Names Dorvan.” Dorvan held out his hand
“Ame.” Ame took Dorvan’s hand and firmly shook it.
“Well Ame, there’s plenty to do in Mos Eisley, let me know if you need anything else.”
“Thank you friend.” and with that Ame left the hanger and out into the streets of Mos Eisley.
Mos Eisley was a busy place, there were plenty of smells coming from the street food vendors and the cantina’s and many glittery things that caught Ame’s eyes, Ame stopped at one particular vendor next to a shadowy alley who was selling handmade Jewelry, she looked particularly at a blue gem wrapped in intricate silver wiring, picking it up and examining it, a pink Toydarian female who was perched on a stool behind the jewelry stall reading a newspaper article about the Seperatist War noticed Ame, set down the paper and flew off the stool. “Ah, you have good taste my friend, that's one of my best pieces.”
“The wire work is extremely intricate, not to mention the jewels shine. Tell me, Would you be able to do something similar to this if I gave you a jewel to mount?” Ame asked, still examining the blue gem.
“For the right price, and it depends on the gem.”
Ame let go of the necklace and dug around in her pocket, pulling out a glowing purple Kyber crystal and resting it in her hands.
“WOAH! Put that away!” the toydarian quickly closed Ame’s fingers around the crystal “Do you want to get robbed? Crystals like that are worth a fortune! Come come.” The toydarian led Ame a little ways into the shadowy alley, turning both their backs to the street. “Here let me take a look at it.” Ame shifted the crystal into her fingers, making sure to grip the crystal firmly before showing the toydarian. “An Attuned Kyber Crystal, purple of all colors, extremely rare. Where did you….” The toydarian looked Ame up and down “Oh, that explains it, you’re a Jedi. Why haven’t you put this into a lightsaber?”
“Former Jedi, I was never one to dual wield. Plus, I figure it’ll get lost or stolen easier if it lives in my pocket, at least around my neck, I’ll know if someone tries to take it.”
"You got a point there kiddo. Tell you what, I'll mount it for 5,000 AND anytime someone asks, you send them my way." The Toydarian held out her hand.
"Deal." Ame took the Toydarian's hand and shook it firmly.
"Come sit with me at my stall while I work on this, I'll feel more comfortable with a former Jedi watching my back. Names Kattos."
"Ame. How long do you think it'll take?" Ame asked curiously.
"Do you want quality or speed?"
"Fair enough."
The two of them went back to Kattos stall, behind the stall kattos fluttered to a beat up old trunk just underneath the counter, unlocked it and pulled out a spool of silver wire, needle nose pliers that had definitely seen better days and some magnifying goggles. Kattos put the goggles on and pulled some wire off the spool
"Go ahead and have a seat on the stool, I work better when my wings are flapping." With that Kattos dropped the magnifying lenses over her eyes and began working on mounting the kyber crystal.
Ame watched from behind the stall as creatures of varying Alien species walked past.
No one stopped at Kattos's stall, so Amè took this chance to meditate, it had only been a week since she left the temple and stole her masters ship. Her meditation was interrupted by Kattos asking a question. "So why'd you leave the order?"
Amè opened her eyes and looked at Kattos, who still had her eyes on mounting the kyber crystal. "I didn't agree with some of their views, or rules."
"Any rule or view in particular?"
"Yes, actually. As a Jedi you're forbidden from having relationships, Master Yoda says attachments lead to jealousy which is a shadow of greed. But that's normal to want your partner to only be yours, right? Well Master Yoda says that's its a breeding ground for control. But I've seen many couples and none of them seem to be controlling of one another. If anything, a lot of them work as partners on equal ground."
Kattos hummed and then turned to face Amè. "If you don't mind me saying, I don't think Yoda has ever had a healthy relationship. All unhealthy relationships result from a partner controlling the other. So Yoda is right to a degree. But those are unhealthy relationships. Healthy relationships are ones that take work, understanding, compromising, communication, comprehension. Healthy relationships are where the two don't control each other and work together as a team. Trust me kid. If your partner ain't treating you the way you feel you deserve to be treated, then it ain't healthy and you need to dump their ass immediately. For your own mental sake." Kattos returned to working on the kyber crystal.
Amè sat and thought for a moment. "How do you know so much about relationships?"
"I've been around for a while kid. You learn some stuff when you've been around this long."
"Tell me then, what does it feel like?" Amè asked quizzically.
"What does what feel like sweet heart?"
"Love."
The toydarian chuckled. "Well that depends on the kind of love you're asking about."
"There's more than one type of love?" Amè asked eagerly.
"Yes. Actually there was an ancient culture of humans that believed there were 7 types of love, you're probably more familiar with selfless love and self love."
"Tell me about the others!" Amè demanded eagerly, hungry for the knowledge, she caught herself. Remembering her manners. "Er. Please."
The toydarian chuckled. "Well, there's physical love, Love of the body. That's the love of Lust and sexual love. Then there's friendly love, the kind of love you have for a friend. Then there's unconditional, familial love, the love between a parent and child," the toydarian stopped working on the crystal for a moment to think. "Then there's selfless love. Thats something the jedi push quite heavily. It's a love and concern for all things. Then there's playful love. That's the kind of love you feel when you feel a fluttering in your stomach. A crush if you will. Then there's committed long term love. That's the love you see in healthy couples and friendships. The one that forms attachments long term. And finally self love. Meditation is a kind of self love."
Amè's eye glistened as she listened to the information the toydarian was sharing. "Wow, that's a lot of love, where'd you learn this?"
"I've been around." The toydarian went back to working on the crystal. For the rest of the time Kattos was working on the the crystal, Amè meditated on the 7 loves. Amè sensed through the force that Kattos had finished the work on the crystal, she opened her eyes just as the toydarian was turning to look at her. Kattos flew over to Amè and showed Amè the now mounted kyber crystal. The metal work was more intricate than the blue gem. Kattos dug around the trunk for some leather cord, stringing the now mounted crystal onto it and tying it closed with an adjustable knot.
"All done sweetheart."
"Wow that looks amazing! You do incredible work!" Amè dug around in her pocket and pulled out a coin bag, poking through it to collect the 5,000 credits to pay Kattos, but Kattos simply pushed down Amè's hand and shook her head. "On the house hun, I enjoyed our conversation. You can pay me back by coming back here on occasion and chatting with me about your journey, you're always welcome."
Amè put the credit bag back into her pocket, Kattos took her hand and placed the kyber crystal in it. "Thank you Kattos." Amè hugged the toydarian who was taken aback at first, but accepted the hug, patting Amè on the back. Amè slipped the kyber crystal necklace on her neck and adjusted the cord so it was at a length she liked.
"Where are you gonna go from here?" Kattos stepped back from the hug
"To crait, to see the vulptices."
"Good luck kid, vulpticies are sneaky little buggers, they hide quite well. Make sure you don't get caught by any sepratist droids."
"I have a special plan for that!"
Suddenly a loud crackle of electricity and the sound of a creature snarling coming from down the shadowy alley caught the pairs attention.
"What was that?" Amè asked, hand hovering over her lightsaber.
"I don't know. Smugglers smuggling a new creature maybe?"
"I'm gonna go check it out."
"Be careful! Those are not the kinds of people you want as enemies."
Amè wandered down the shadowy alley, following the sound of two men yelling, electricity snapping and a creature snarling. Amè turned a corner and saw two weequay pirates gathered around a medium sized creature cage, resting on top of some barrels and crates on a cart. Amè quickly hid behind the corner and peered out watching the two weequay pirates.
The cage jumped and the bigger of the pirates stuck an electrified prod in between the cage bars, zapping whatever poor creature was inside.
"Shut up and behave you filthy creature. You're gonna make us alotta money." The creature snarled and it was zapped again, the two pirates laughed. Amè couldn't take it anymore, using the force to draw her lightSaber to her hand and stepped out from behind the corner she was hiding behind and approached the two weequay.
"Thats not a nice way to treat something that's going to supposedly make you a lot of cash."
The two weequay turned around with a huh and Amè ignited her lightsaber, the purple blade growing forth from its hilt. The two weequay looked at eachother and laughed
"Ooh lookie here, we got ourselves a wittle Jedi, the separatists will pay a fortune for your head."
The two weequay pulled out their blaster pistols and Amè eyed them both.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you."
The pirates fired on Amè, who deflected them with ease. Either these pirates were too drunk, too slow, or both to avoid getting hit by the deflected hard light bullets, but they both took a round to the chest and fell over rather unceremoniously onto their backs. Apparently dead.
Amè's eyes widened. "That was in self defense, right? Yea, self defense." Amè muttered to herself. That was the first time she'd killed anything other than a training droid. The cage rattling caught her attention away from her shock, she cautiously approached the cage, holding her Saber at the ready, as she got close to the cage, she peered through the bars, inside, was a very scared vulptex with electric blue eyes, it was backed into the back of the cage, haunches up and growling, bearing its teeth.
"Oh you poor thing…." Amè waved her hand, using the force to unlock and open the door of the cage, stowing her lightsaber. The vulptex tried pushing itself further into the back of the cage and spat.
Amè then used the force to attempt to get through to the vulptex, to tell it that she was not there to harm it and was there to rescue it, her hand slowly crept forward, and the closer it got to the vulptex, the calmer the creature seemed to become, until Amè's hand was resting on its head and it was completely relaxed.
"There, isn't that better? C'mon, let's get you out of here and back to Crait."
Amè gently scooped the vulptex out from the cage, she looked it over for any injuries, once she started examining its head, she noticed some of the crystal fur behind its ears was glowing red. "What's this? Do you mind if I take a look?" The vulptex whined, which Amè understood as consent, she parted the crystal fur to reveal cybernetic implants "Oh geez, you've been cybernized! Oh you poor thing. What does it do I wonder…." The vulptex only looked back at Amè
"Cybernized?" A female voice echoed in Amè's head "what does that mean?" Amè shook her head and stared at the vulptex.
"Did you just talk? No. No you couldn't have."
"I talk, though creatures like you don't understand our language."
Amè furrowed her brow. "I seem to be able to understand you."
"Strange, a rare creature you must be." The vulptex tilted its head, then began squirming until it managed to get on top of Amè's arm and then onto Amè's shoulders
"I stay here til you take me home, you lead, rare creature."
PRESENT
“Oh wow, Chrysalis, you’re so lucky you were found before you were sold off to some stuffy noble who would have kept you locked in a cage!” The Twi’lek chimed, scratching the vulptex on the chin again.
“Very lucky, she’s actually mostly cybernized. All of its internal except the bits you see behind her ears.”
The twi’lek didn’t seem to hear and was too busy giving Chrysalis all the love, chrysalis was thoroughly enjoying herself. Ame cleared her throat to get the twi’leks attention “How much would it be to leave a dew back here for a week?”
The twi’lek looked up at Ame “Bring this cutie back to see me and you can leave the dew back here for as long as you need.”
“Thank you. Ever the popular beast aren’t you Chrysalis?” The vulptex wagged its tail and gave Ame a grin.
“Again thank you so much Miss….”
“Rhydan! How rude of me, I didn’t even introduce myself!.” The twi’lek took Ame’s hand and shook it.
“I am Ame. Unfortunately we must be headed out now, I’m fairly certain chrysalis would like a hot meal.”
“There are plenty of Cantina’s here in Mos Espa, which one are you headed too?”
“The Womping Womp Rat, just a few blocks north of here.”
The twi’lek suddenly grew fairly concerned, clearly evident on her gentle pink face. “That’s, not one I recommend, lots of rough rabble hang around that one. Don’t get me wrong the food is great and they treat pets very well, but the patrons are very shady.”
“I’ve been in a fair few scrapes, and weaseled out of more, I’m sure I’ll be fine, besides I have my companion Crys here to take care of me should push come to shove. Crys, you’ve actually been very quiet, is anything the matter?” The battle droid was hiding in the shadows, it pulled its hood over its face trying to hide. “Ooh, I see. Rhydan, its seems my companion here is a bit terrified about how you might react to them. You see, they’re an old seppy battle droid, I’ve reprogramed it to be my protector.”
“A battle droid?!” Rhydans eyes seemed to get distant for a second “Wh-why do you have a battle droid for a companion, weren’t they gathered up and melted down after…you know…”
“You are correct, however, I found Chrys’s head in some rubble on one of my adventures, finding parts has been incredibly expensive, most of it is retro fitted. He’s a good droid. Though, I will admit, he represents an era fraught with trauma.” Ame said sadly.
“He’s been good to you?” The twi’lek asked, seemingly more present.
“Yes, very. He’s dragged my sorry butt out of many situations I found myself incapacitaited in.”
“Well, keep protecting her chrys.” Rhydan said awkwardly trying to be cheerful and friendly.
“Roger Roger.” Chrys responded.
“Well, we’ll get out of your lekku’s. Do you recommend any cantina instead of The Womping Womp Rat?”
“The Three Gandy Moons, they serve iconic dishes, the spotchka is top shelf and pet friendly. It’s a few doors down from here, the atmosphere is quite friendly and kattos, the toydarian owner, keeps it well maintained.” Rhydan explained
“Did you say Kattos?” Ame became excited, so kattos was still alive!
“Yes, do you know her?”
“Yes I do! Though its been some time since I’ve seen her, does she still have her jewelry stall?” Ame asked eagerly.
“Not since she bought the The Three Gandy Moons, she does still make jewelry, just sells it on the holonet now.”
“Thank you so much for your time Rhydan. We’ll be back!.” Ame turned to walk out the door with a wave, chrys followed behind. The sand storm was still whipping sand furiously. Ame pulled her scarf over her nose, donned her goggles and set out into the storm.
