He stopped pacing and looked at the letter on the table once again.
“Who would choose me for something like this?” he asked, his hands pulling his hair.
She gave a little smirk from her seat across the room.
“I chose you,” she said.
He let out a breath.
“It’s not the same, and you know that.”
She stood up and crossed to the table, wanting to see for herself what the letter said.
“I really don’t see why this is a big deal,” she admitted.
“Maybe not. I don’t know.”
He shook his head, and she took his hand.
