Fuyuhiko and Peko walked among the carnage they caused. The despair they caused. To Fuyuhiko it was beautiful. She was beautiful. He loved how the red blood coated her white suit and her silver hair. It complemented her red eyes beautifully. The way she practically danced as she sliced and diced through the bodies. They barely even had to speak to communicate now. The days where she stood quietly behind him ended with his parents.
Fuyuhiko raised his hand, catching Peko’s attention mid-swing. She dropped her stance and waited for the next signal. He gestured for her to come closer, which she did. The moment she was within arm's length he grabbed her by the lapels of her blazer and pulled her in for a kiss. He licked his lips clean of blood when they broke the kiss.
“Damn, you’re hot.” He groaned before kissing her again. He could hear Peko laugh into the kiss. Fuyuhiko abruptly broke the kiss and threw her onto the ground. “So fucking beautiful. I just want to keep you at home to myself and put you on display.” He smirked as her eyes widened. “Oh yeah, that’d fill you with despair, baby.” He could feel himself drooling at the idea of Peko waiting at home, filled with despair because she wasn’t by his side to protect him. Wearing a fancy kimono, her only duty to look pretty and pleasure him. “Yeah, let’s do that for a bit.”
“If that is what you wish.” He heard her defeated sigh. He nodded wiping the drool from his mouth. Peko simply bowed her head respectfully. Fuyuhiko climbed atop her with a crazed expression.
“You really are fucking gorgeous…”
That's how Peko ended up at home, in Fuyuhiko’s bathroom holding a positive pregnancy test after throwing up for the fifth morning in a row. She was frustrated because she was supposed to return to the battlefield soon, and now this. Honestly, if she really wanted she could probably get rid of the life forming inside her before Fuyuhiko found out, or just tell him she was going to rid herself of it. But…
She wasn’t sure she wanted to get rid of it. Sure she wanted to be by Fuyuhiko’s side… She wanted to protect him… Still… This child would be hers and her master's. Proof they loved and cared for each other. Peko’s hand landed on her stomach.
A child… Fuyuhiko’s child. The thought brought warmth to her heart. Just the idea that she and Fuyuhiko made something like a child together.
Peko waited for Fuyuhiko to return home like she did any other day. He came home covered in blood, wanting to go take a shower. While he liked fresh blood, he hated it once it dried. Peko watched as he entered the bathroom where she had left the pregnancy test on the counter, out in the open.
The longer he was in there the more she assumed he didn’t care. Until the door flew open. Fuyuhiko was standing there, naked save for a towel around his waist, hair wet holding the test.
“You’re pregnant!?” His voice echoed in the room.
“I just found out myself today.” She revealed. “I wanted to know your thoughts on it… If you agree I think I’d like to keep the child.” Fuyuhiko was stunned… He kinda never thought about the future of the clan… Sure he figured he’d have to handle it eventually… But he never thought about having kids… And this was the first time that Peko stated wanting anything. He felt his heart swell at the fact this was brought up by their child.
“If you want to keep it, keep it.” He stated, blushing dusting his cheeks. “About time we start thinking about the future.”
“Thank you.” Peko’s voice was soft as she caressed her stomach again. “I will be keeping the child then.”
“Sounds good.” Fuyuhiko nodded.
Time passed by rather slowly for Peko. Sure it was her choice to keep the life growing inside her, but she still was stuck at home instead of with Fuyuhiko… Besides, it’s not like she could go anywhere once she started showing. Part of being the Ultimate Despair meant not having a weakness. No one outside of their group could know she was with child… Hell, they only told a select few that she was pregnant.
Mikan had to know so she could monitor the child’s progress and Gundham had found out by accident when his animal companions reacted positively toward Peko, which wasn’t the norm. Once Gundham knew, Sonia knew, because they were also in a ‘Basically married’ situation, as Ibuki put it, to Peko and Fuyuhiko.
With very few visitors and being limited in her activities… Peko grew bored. Even with all the research material on child rearing she read. It was on one of these days she lay bored on the bed that her water broke. At the worst time possible.
Fuyuhiko was out on a slaughter, and Mikan was helping Nagito attach Junko’s arm to his own body. The only person Peko could call was the silent Izuru. Izuru was quick and effective, helping Peko through the process of the birth, before handing her newborn son to her. He barely said a word as he left, crossing paths with a frantic Fuyuhiko on the way out.
“Is the kid ok?” Fuyuhiko bombarded her with questions. “Are you ok? Nothing went wrong?”
“I’m fine… The baby is fine, just waiting for him to open his eyes.” Peko gently caressed the white-haired child.
“Him… A boy…” Fuyuhiko’s voice went soft and quiet when he laid eyes on the baby. The child's eyes cracked open to reveal red irises. The child squinted and almost immediately started crying. The pair of new parents immediately began to fret over what the baby could want.
Shortly after that Fuyuhiko named his son, Kuzu Kuzuryu. He wanted the child to have a name similar to its mother's. They spent a few weeks enjoying their family until they were found by Future Foundation and were placed inside the Neo-World Program, forgetting about the child they had together.
When Peko awoke from the program she looked around. She was surrounded by the other remnants, some awake, some asleep in pods. Fuyuhiko was holding her hand.
I haven’t felt this tired since Kuzu was born…
“Where is he?” She asked weakly.
“I’m right here Peko.” Peko shook her head.
“Where’s Kuzu? Where’s my baby?” She grasped Fuyuhiko’s hand for dear life. “Did they take him?”
“Peko, calm down.” Fuyuhiko did his best to soothe her. While those who died in the simulation kept their memories of being remnants, and simulation memories took time to remember, it was the opposite for the survivors.
“They took him. I need him back. What if they try to use him against us!?” She frantically tried to stand.
“Peko!” Fuyuhiko caught her as she fell, soon devolving into sobs. He looked at Hajime desperitly. “I need to talk to Future Foundation. NOW!” Hajime nodded and started setting up the call room.
Soon Fuyuhiko found out everything. He and Peko had a baby boy he named Kuzu, and the little infant was perfectly fine in Future Foundation's care. Makoto promised to make sure the child was returned to his parents once everyone on the island was awake and mentally cleared. The last thing they wanted to do was endanger a child.
Peko weakly requested to see Kuzu, even if it was just on video. She was given a tablet connected to a baby monitor, so she could see her child whenever she wished. Fuyuhiko smiled seeing her occasionally glance down at the tablet when she could.
Within a few months, everyone was recovered enough to let Peko and Fuyuhiko reunite with their son. It was a wonderful day, almost overshadowing Kuzu’s birth in Fuyuhiko’s eyes. The baby almost immediately recognized his mother, only calming down when she held him.
“Hey, Lil Boss… Welcome home.” Fuyuhiko leaned down and kissed his forehead earning a coo from the child. Peko couldn’t hold back the tears any longer, leaning onto Fuyuhiko for support as joy leaked out of her.
