“Isabelle, please stop that.”
He focuses his eyes on the clipboard in hand, an attempt to avoid the sight of the sooted gloves pointed at him. An effort that fails with the stifling heat coming from the conductor towering behind him hard to ignore.
“ What? I’m not doing anything.” Grin across her face widens. Days with no passengers are slow and boring, but messing with her “little brother” was always the perfect remedy for that.
Balan adjusts the jabot around their neck. ”Don’t you have something to do? Any maintenance perhaps?”
“Nah, already did that.” Isabelle inches his finger a little closer to him.
“ Isabelle so help me if you get a speck on soot on my clothes- ”
“I don’t know what you’re fussing about, I’m not touching you.”
Isabelle drifts her finger a mere inch from his coat before Balan whips around and smacks it with the board.
