Work Text:
Mafuyu has never been good at words. When she’s putting up her facade, she can talk just fine, but when she’s dropping it, she doesn’t talk as much, just saying things like “I don’t know” or “I don’t mind”.
She’s never had a problem with that, until she started dating Kanade. Kanade always says things like “I love you” and other romantic things, but Mafuyu can’t say it back as often as she wants to. At one point, she started feeling guilty about it.
“Mafuyu?”
Oh, she was internally rambling. That’s right, she’s laying on the bed, and Kanade is standing in front of her, dressed in pajamas.
Mafuyu turns her head to look at her, and Kanade moves closer. “I’m done with work, we can sleep now.”
She hides a smile and moves over to make room for Kanade, who climbs into bed with her. “Good, you look tired.”
Kanade pouts. “I’m not that ti—“ she’s interrupted by a yawn, which earns a doubtful look from Mafuyu. She sighs in defeat, and lays down. “Okay, maybe I am a bit tired.”
Mafuyu chuckles softy, and reaches out her hand, an invitation for Kanade to take it.
Kanade intertwines their fingers, and moves closer to her, Mafuyu taking her in her arms without hesitation. “You’re warm,” she whispers, her breath tickling Mafuyu’s neck. She hums gently, soothingly, and strokes a hand through her soft hair as a response.
Kanade giggles and snuggles into her, and smiles against her skin. A warm feeling spreads throughout her body, and she can’t help but return the smile.
I love you.
Mafuyu kisses her on the forehead, then on both her cheeks. Then, a peck on the lips, heart fluttering when their noses brush against each other. Kanade holds back a laugh, the sensation probably tickling her.
The sight makes Mafuyu want to hold her more, give her all the love in the world, give her everything she deserves, give her the world.
However, she can’t give her the world.
But she can hold her.
So for now, she’ll settle for that.
I love you. I love you so much, more than anything, even after time itself ends.
The unsaid feelings linger in the air.
There’s no need for it to be said.
The kisses, the laughs, the soft touches and the warmth are sweeter than any romantic words could ever be.
Mafuyu may not be able to express her love in words as much as she’d like to. However, that doesn’t mean she can’t still express it.
She conveys it through touch rather than words, but Kanade still feels it. And as long as she knows how much she absolutely loves her with ever fiber of her being, that’s enough.
More than enough.
