Work Text:

Wednesday Addams was cursed. It was the same curse that was ultimately her parent's weakness. The soulmate curse.

Her parents called it a blessing. Everyone had a soulmate. Some people had multiple soulmates, and for some, a soulmate wasn’t necessarily the end-all for who they would wind up with. For many, soulmates were flexible, but not if you were an Addams.

If you were an Addams, your soulmate was it for you. That was the person. No escape, no loopholes. If your soulmate didn’t want you, oh well, you would still be stuck loving them for the rest of your pitiful life.

“An Addams loves with all that they are, and they love for life,” Gomez had said.

Wednesday hated the thought. She had always been independent. A soulmate would simply get in the way. Wednesday wasn’t built for love, contrary to what her soul mark said. A simple set of initials leading to the person who would be her downfall. E.S.

Enid Sinclair was a hopeless romantic. She loved the idea of soulmates, someone who was meant for you. No, not everyone wound up with their soulmate, but Enid was sure she would! Ever since she was young, she had fantasized about meeting her soulmate. She spent hours tracing the initials that were printed in tiny typewriter letters on her left forearm. W.A.

When she was 8 years old, Enid got a notebook. She began writing down every possible name she could think of with the initials W.A.

William Abbott

Walker Arnold

Wyatt Armstrong

Wesley Atkins

When Enid was 12, she realized she didn’t actually care if her soulmate was a boy or a girl. So she began writing girls' names as well.

Waverly Allen

Willow Archer

Wanda Abrams

Wendy Asher

Enid couldn’t wait, she was sure she’d love her soulmate!

Wednesday Addams. Her new roommate. Arriving tomorrow. Enid almost screamed when she got the news. She wasn’t sure how she knew, but she just knew, this girl was her soulmate. Wednesday, what a unique name! Oh, Enid was so excited, she was going to meet her soulmate tomorrow!

Principal Weems walked in the next afternoon, followed by a pale girl and her parents. The girl, Wednesday, had her dark hair done in 2 braids, and she was dressed in all black. There was a blank expression on her face as she looked around the room.

Enid hopped up and bounced over to where Wednesday stood. “Howdy, roomie!” she exclaimed.

Wednesday stared. She had no idea what to make of this girl, with her colorful hair and even more colorful room.

Weems spoke next. “Wednesday, this is Enid Sinclair.”

Oh. Oh no.

Enid Sinclair. E.S.

Wednesday didn’t know how she knew, but she knew, this bubbly girl was her soulmate. This girl with her bright smile and pink window, this was the girl who would be her weakness. She was screwed.
