Chapter Text

A new school semester had started, and Wednesday’s family car was already pulling through the front gate. As much as Wednesday hated it hear when she first arrived, it had grown on her. She was especially excited to see her best friend Enid again albeit she masked her excitement behind her usual facial expression. Her parents loved having Enid around the house mansion when she came to visit during the break.

Now the new semester had started, and Wednesday was eager to get started. She was still trying to figure out who her mystery stalker was. Somebody obviously had taken an interest in her and not in a good way. Pulling up outside the school, Wednesday caught sight of a family blonde with pink and blue in her hair. She opened the door once the car came to a complete stop and climbed out.

Wednesday stopped though when she saw that Enid was not with her parents. In fact, she was with somebody else; a young woman who looked 4 years older than Enid was. The woman had long red hair with black highlights, her olive skin was flawless and sparkling red eyes, she was obviously a vampire. She was wearing a dark blue tank top, tight jeans, leather boots and a dark red leather jacket. The goth looked confused as she tilted her head to the side, curious to know who this older woman was. The older woman turned and smiled at her before looking to Wednesday.

Enid looked confused for a moment before turning to Wednesday. Soon a beaming smile lit up her face and she quickly ran to her friend. Wednesday braced herself for the hug that was to come. Releasing a grunt as the werewolf’s body collided with hers and hugged her tight. Wednesday rolled her eyes before she begrudgingly brought her hand to Enid’s back. Bianca and her friends snickered nearby earning a glare from the goth.

“Enid honey, aren’t you going to introduce me to your friend?” The redhead asked as she stepped closer to the girls.

Enid rolled her eyes and stepped back, breaking away from the hug and instantly both girls missed the contact “Wednesday, this is my Aunt Mara” she revealed as she motioned to the redhead.

“Ah the famous Wednesday Addams” Mara greeted as beamed “My dear niece talked constantly about you” she opened her arms and stepped closer to hug the goth.

Wednesday eyes widened in pure terror as she stepped back earning a snicker from Enid “She’s not a hugger” Enid explained to her aunt.

“She only lets you touch her huh, that’s my girl” Mara wiggled her eyes suggestively at her niece causing the blonde werewolf to blush hard.

“Aunt Mara” Enid whined as she rubbed the back of her neck.

“I assumed your parents would be bringing you?” Wednesday asked, wondering why Enid’s parents was not here.

Enid’s smile faded as she looked down “Mom… Mom and dad disowned me” she revealed.

It took all Wednesday had not to convey how angry that made her “Why?” she asked.

Enid looked to her aunt for help and Mara instantly got the signal “Uh, just some differences about Enid’s life” she explained before grabbing Enid’s bags “Come along pupster” she urged “Lead me to your room”

“Please… don’t call me that” Enid whined childishly before looking to Wednesday “See you inside” she said.

“Of course,” Wednesday watched as Enid and Mara made their way inside before she returned to her parents and Lurch.

“So tell me, who was that with Enid?” Morticia asked looking curious about the redhead.

“She’s Enid’s aunt” Wednesday answered though it still puzzled her why Enid never mentioned she had an aunt before.

“She seems awfully young to be an aunt, she doesn’t look that much older than you and Enid” Gomez stated looking just as curious as his wife.

“She’s a vampire” Wednesday explained.

“Ah, that explains it” Gomez accepted it and moved on.

“Unusual though, Enid’s family are werewolves” Morticia reminded as she looked back to Wednesday.

“Indeed” Wednesday replied as she looked back towards the school entrance “I will be sure to ask Enid about her later”

Not back in school 5 minutes and already she has her first mystery.

“Wednesday!” Eugene called out as he ran over to the goth “Wednesday… did you hear?” Eugene asked looking worried.

“Hear what, breath Eugene” Wednesday urged as the young boy struggled to breath.

“Tyler… he escaped” Eugene revealed once he sufficiently recovered.

“What… when?” Wednesday asked confused how he managed to escape.

“2 months after the semester ended, he broke out of his cell” Eugene revealed.

Wednesday was worried now, Tyler would no doubt be wanting revenge on her and Enid. Eugene headed back inside, leaving Wednesday outside with her parents who shared her concern. Lurch soon returned having just delivered her bags and her cello case to her’s and Enid’s room. Thing once again would be staying to keep and eye on the goth and this time he was stashed in the secret compartment of her cello case.

Once she had said goodbye to her parents, Enid went upstairs to the room she shared with Enid. She could hear Enid and Mara talking inside as she stood outside before entering the room. Mara was helping Enid unpack her things before she looked at her watch “Okay pupster, I’ll be close by if you need me” she said as she cupped her niece’s face between her hands “You have my number?”

“I do, programmed on my speed dial” Enid answered before wrapping her arms around her aunt and squeezed her tight.

Wednesday sat on her bed, watching as Enid and Mara shared one last hug before heading for the door “Look after my niece Wednesday” she called behind her before she headed out leaving the 2 girls behind.

Once the door was closed, Wednesday looked at Enid and she could see the werewolf’s cheeks were a deeper shade of crimson. “Pupster?” Wednesday asked confused.

Enid shrugged her shoulders, a fond smile playing on her lips “A nickname she came up with when I was a kid” she explained “She called me an overactive puppy and then she started calling me pupster”

“Amusing” Wednesday replied seemingly uninterested in the story “Why is she a vampire?” she asked.

Enid’s smile fell as she shook her head “That’s not my story to tell” she explained “You’d be best to ask Mara that” she lay down on the bed “Also, why was Eugene so distressed?” Enid asked as she looked at Wednesday.

Wednesday opened her mouth to tell Enid the truth but instead she tilted her head to the side and answered “Oh, he was just worried about the bee’s he left behind when the semester ended” she explained.

“Oh… are his bee’s okay?” Enid asked knowing how much those bee’s mean to the young boy.

“I assured him that they were fine” Wednesday answered as she settled on her bed.

Enid’s lips curled into a smile “It’s good to be back here”

“It is, I look forward to uncovering more of Nevermore’s secrets” Wednesday answered as she started unpacking her things.

“After last time, you sure you want to go digging again” Enid joked as she rolled onto her side and watched as Wednesday started unpacking her cello.

A knock on the door drew their attention before it swung open and Ajax stormed in. Enid growled as she glared at the stoner “I told you ‘No!’” she declared “Never going to happen!”

“Why not, we were good together!” Ajax replied with a petulant whine.

‘Great… drama’ Wednesday thought to herself “Where did I hide my razor?” she wondered to herself, wanting to slice Ajax’s jugular for not taking Enid’s no for an answer.

“It’s over Ajax, I don’t want to date you anymore” Enid declared, her claws coming out “Now get out before I rip those snakes off your head”

The violent threat surprised Wednesday and she smirked “I really have rubbed off on you” she declared proudly.

Enid blushed as she ducked her head before glaring at Ajax “Now, please leave”

“Fine, but this isn’t over Enid!” Ajax declared, only for a knife to fly passed his head and into the doorframe.

Ajax looked startled as his gaze landed on Wednesday “Enid said leave, now get out before I conduct an experiment to see if Gorgon’s can fly”

Ajax turned and ran away but not before he glared one last time at Enid who ignored him.

The door slamming shut behind him as Wednesday went back to her cello “Can you play something for me?” Enid asked.

Wednesday looked at Enid with a surprised expression on her face, there was no way she could smother the surprise “Does my playing not bother you?” she asked.

“I’ve gotten used to it” Enid replied as she got comfortable “I’ve missed hearing you play” she admitted. Wednesday allowed the corner of her lips to curl into the briefest of smiles before she settled down on her bed and positioned her cello before she started playing. Enid humming as Wednesday began to play, the music filling the school as Wednesday watched Enid drifted blissfully to sleep.

As Enid fell asleep, Wednesday could not help but notice that Enid seemed to be weighed down by a secret she was keeping. Enid never said that she and Ajax had broken up the last time they spoke. As she slept, Enid became more relaxed and smiled in her sleep as Wednesday continued to play. Wednesday was glad Enid broke up with the stoner but there were so many questions coming to mind.

Who was Enid's Aunt Mara?

Why did Enid’s parents disown Enid?

What was Enid hiding?

And why did it hurt that Enid was keeping secrets from her?
