Ravar's thoughts were screaming at him, overwhelming him as he hurried about his way. He was collecting his things, as he planned to leave. He refuses to stay here and be Evykls servant, no longer letting the other rule over his life. Though his thoughts were being cut through, his anxiety and the tension around his large stature rising to astronomical heights.
"Ravar, please! W-would you just STOP grabbing things and trying to rush out of here?! Just- just listen to me. Listen to me for just one minute and maybe I can convince you to stay, please?" His friend, his love that he could not love. Sighing a deep, guttural sound as the other whisper-yelled at him. All in order to convince him to stay, but little did the smaller Eliksni know he was the sole reason Ravar had even stayed this long.
Turning around quickly as he grabs the others shoulders with his second set of arms, jaw clenching under his mask as he struggled with keeping his composure. "I-..." He trailed off, eyes locking onto his beloveds before turning away in a flash, squaring his shoulders as he grabbed the last of his belongings and shoved them into his bag. Slinging it over his shoulder, he began to march away. He couldn't walk, that was too painful. He couldn't run, he'd feel like a coward. He may be 'fleeing' in the darkest of the night, but he still had to keep what small dignity he'd had left after.. After everything he's been forced to do.
"I'm... I'm sorry, Thrakniks. I- I can't stay." He whispered over his shoulder softly before beginning to march off, eyes tearing up. "You have no idea how painful this decision is for me, but its a choice that I had to make. Goodbye, I..." He couldn't bring himself to say it, couldn't even begin to breathe the idea of the thought. "I'll miss you most." He'd settled. He'd settled for what he'd wanted to say, such a coward. Not even able to look the other in the eyes as he said his goodbyes. He was halfway from the exit of the main building within their house towards the small group of homes for the few families they carried. All empty.
--
Thrakniks couldn't believe it, his own eyes tearing up as his unusually thick neck fluff puffed out in anger, despair, so many emotions all coursing through his blood. Too many yet not enough to be able to speak them. But he had to, he couldn't.. He couldn't just let Ravar leave. The House needs him, he needs him.
Shaking himself out of his momentary stupor, he ran after the other. He understood why the other was leaving, but he was unable to bring himself to accept it. The House would fall to further ruin if the other were to truly leave. He would fall even further if he were left alone, he himself couldn't leave.
"Ravar, please, I'm begging you to reconsider. At least give it a few more days before you go, the House will surely fall to ruins without you. You are the only thing that's truly keeping our House in order, or even alive. As little as we are, we still need you. I-... Ravar, I need you. We all need you, please. I know... I know you're destined to save our House, or at least pave the way for it." He begs quietly to the larger Eliksni, keeping pace with the others longer stride.
"I told you, Thrakniks. I cant stay, even if I wanted to. He's... He's made me kill so many, even when it was unneeded. He's made me do so many horrible things, he barely even cares about keeping me alive. As long as he can control me that monster is happy. I- I can't do it, anymore. I'm sorry, just let me go peacefully. It'll hurt less for the both of us."
That stopped Thrakniks in his tracks as the other kept marching on, completely frozen for a moment before anger truly started swirling through his veins.
"I.. I can't believe you. I, I thought I knew you. How could you say that while you're leaving?! Do you understand what you're even saying, Ravar?! How can you act as though you haven't thought about taking his place, or at least even thought about it!? You've told me how you've wished to save our house before, even only a few earth days ago and then turn around and leave?! I can't believe that you're the same being that you've been, you can't-. You can't leave me!"
His voice cracked and tappered off at the end as he choked back tears, trying his best to keep a calm and level head. But thats hard, when the love of your life is trying to leave you and you've never gotten the chance to tell them that they are so to you.
His heart soared in hope for a moment as he watched the much larger Eliksni stop in his tracks. It soared even higher as the other turned around and began walking towards him. It completely fell out to the bottom and shattered when said being pulled his fist back and swung, hand connecting with his mask. Stumbling back and looking at the other in shock, anger sizzling out before hurt began to rumble its way through his heart. "Wha-"
"Shut the fuck up, you have no clue what you're talking about. I have wanted to save our house for decades now, you know this. I have wanted to save you for even longer. But I have been stuck under that TYRANTS gaze, I have been forced by his hand to be his puppet. He has made me do unspeakable things that you could NEVER EVEN BEGIN TO COMPREHEND. YOU DON'T KNOW HOW I COULD POSSIBLY FEEL ABOUT LEAVING! IT HURTS SO MUCH YET YOU ACT AS THOUGH I CHOSE THIS LIGHTLY, THRAKNIKS. I DID NOT DECIDE TO LEAVE OUT OF COWARDICE, I DID NOT DECIDE TO LEAVE THE HOUSE TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES BECAUSE I WISHED TOO. I'M LEAVING BECAUSE I CAN NO LONGER BEAR THE PAIN IT BRINGS ME, I CAN NO LONGER BEAR THE HURT AND BETRAYAL I SEE IN THEIR EYES WHEN THEY LOOK AT ME AS I KILL THEIR LOVED ONES. I CANNOT KEEP LIVING LIKE THIS, AS SOMEONES WEAPON TO KEEP THEIR PEOPLE IN LINE BECAUSE THEY CANNOT SHARE A SHRED OF COMPASSION FOR THEIR OWN PEOPLE."
"I AM LEAVING BECAUSE I CANNOT BEAR THE THOUGHT OF EVER BEING FORCED TO KILL YOU, THE ONE THAT HOLDS MY HEART THE MOST. I COULD NEVER LET MYSELF LIVE IF I WERE TO SEE YOUR BLOOD ON MY OWN HANDS, TO WATCH MYSELF KILL YOU EVERY NIGHT AS THE TRAGEDY REPLAYS ITSELF WITHIN MY MIND. I CANNOT LET MYSELF KILL THE BEING I LOVE MORE THAN ANYTHING I COULD EVER COMPREHEND."
Thrakniks stared in pure shock, stumbling over himself as he tried to regain his composure. To at least say something as he watched Ravar swivel around on his heel and begin walking away. He... Loves....him... His breath hitched as the words the other spoke finally settled within both his heart and mind. He choked on his words as he tried to speak, hand reaching out for the other for only a moment before he found his body moving before his own mind.
Legs propelling himself forward as he reaches out, snagging the others elbow and roughly yanking him back. And before Ravar could properly react he wrapped himself around the other, mask pressed deeply into his chest as the dam holding his emotions back burst open. "You, you, stupid fucking..." He huffed, his words warbled by tears and overbearing emotions. "If you love me, then you can't leave me... Please..." His voice cracked once again, shoulders shaking as he began to sob into the other. "I can't bear a life without you in it, so please. I am begging you, stay."
--
Ravar stumbled back a step as Thrakniks threw his entire being into him, knocking the breath out of his lungs. Before he could react, or even begin to yell at the other he began speaking. "You, you, stupid fucking... If you love me, then you can't leave me... Please... I can't bear a life without you in it, so please. I am begging you, stay."
"I..." He paused, tearing up further himself as he tried to keep his composure. His own shoulders shook as he took a deep breath in and puffed it out, ready to yet again tell the other that he cannot stay. He... He just couldn't. "I love you, and I don't care how horrible things get here I... I know you'll be able to fix them. I just, I know that you are our houses savior. They cannot survive without you, and I would just hardly be able to live with you gone."
Ravar froze, locking up for a moment as he heard the other speak. Then, without a thought or even a singular idea of what he was doing he made the other look up at him, bottom hand holding the others chin up as he held his shoulders with his first pair of hands. Resting his head against the others as he whispers out a promise he had never thought he would hear himself speak. Words he had only ever dreamed of telling Thrakniks. "Alright, I... I will stay. For you, but... You must promise me, if you truly love me, that if I ever choose to leave you will let me. I cannot promise that I will be back soon, if I leave. But I can promise that I will be back to save our house, and to save you. You must simply wait for me, my love."
He saw the other sigh, shoulders dropping as he spoke. However he slowly saw them nod, their eyes meeting once more as he firmly looked at him. "Then I... I promise to wait for you. If.. If you must leave, then you should go now. You won't ever have a chance to flee again, but I can't promise that I will still be here myself. He may have someone kill me, if Evykls were to find out my secret."
He tilted his head, giving the other a questioning look. "Secret? What se-" He began to ask, cut off as they both heard the beginning wails of a hatchling Eliksni from a nearby building.
--
They both looked up, heads instantly swiveling towards the sound of small, chittering wails. Giving each other one last glance the two slowly peeled themselves apart, not having noticed just how close they had been. Neither acknowledged it however, as they both began to quietly walk over to the building and peak inside, eyeing the scene intently before their gazes landed on a small bundle of a hatchling.
A hatchling set within the arms of his deceased parental figures, long since gone. The hatchling still being alive should have been improbable, impossible even.
The smallest of the two slowly walked over, bending down as he gently picked up the young, and oh so tiny Eliksni child. His bottom set of arms wrapped around the small form gently yet in a protective manner, turning towards the larger of the two Eliksni.
"We can't leave him here to starve, not like them." Was all that was spoken, a nod between the two as they left the decrepit building to continue its rotting. The now obvious smell of death following the pair as they walked back towards the main building of their House in silence.
Halfway through, their hands interlocked. A silent, unspoken promise that would never be broken. A promise to save their house, and protect this new part of their lives. Skosark.
--
Unbeknownst to one half of the pair, a small, round, spikey mechanical being floated out from behind a sneaky hiding spot within a hole in a pillar. Silently it follow behind the pair, catching up to them and slipping into the unusually thick neckfluff of the smallest one. A ghost.
A ghost that had also begun a new part of their life, however it has been there much longer. Vrilisk.
Soon the pair will have a much larger, happier family. But first, they have a hatchling to raise.
However, this happy story does not have a happy ending. Not quite. As far from over as it is, Thrakniks does not stay the silent being he is today. Ravar ends up eventually loving another, however only after years of fighting his inner demons. Only after months of fighting his love, does Ravar move on. And it is not until Ravar moves on does Thrakniks realize he was never destined for a happy ending. He, however, was destined for greatness. For murder.
