Chapter 1: Prologue
Summary:
Welcome to a new Genshin story!
Notes:
Howdy, Howdy everyone!! I'm here to drop a NEW STORY! WHY!?! Because my mind decided it would be a good idea and kept saying DO IT! Do it! Do it! So I crack and now here I am! To give the Genshin fan another story along side my Children of Aether.
Since I have two or more stories (mainly on wattpad) for my other fandom. I can't just leave the genshin fans alone and decided give them something else as well. And because I hate myself to give myself more work of course...fun!!!
This new story is going be an interesting one to say the least. I won't to much in detail as of right now. More on that next chapter and at the end of this chapter. But for now, enjoy this new Genshin story I'm starting up.
Enjoy.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
*Drip*...*drip*...*drip*....
???: "Uhhh...what?..."
A young man with short black hair, average build, 5'5 height, and two different colored eyes is opening his eyes. He leaned up a bit, looked around, and saw he was in a black void.
???: "Where...where the heck am I?" Just then, the person saw a bright light next to him.
The man had to cover his face to not get fully blind by the light. As the light died, a female floated before him, looking like a celestial being. A cape flowed behind her with stars and galaxy designs as the cape and in the projection. The dress was an all-black starry dress. Her hair was short and brown. Her eyes were a crystalized blue, one of the rarest gemstones people would die for.
The two would stare at each other for a few seconds.
???: "Umm...hi?"
??? (Goddess): "Ah, you can speak good. I was hoping I didn't plunk a broken person."
???: "Um, thanks? Care to explain where I am?"
??? (Goddess): "Well, hehe, how do I put this. Where you are is the void let's just say...you don't have an old life anymore."
???: ".... I'm about to get isekai aren't I?"
??? (Goddess): "Oh good you made this super easy for me. Alright, so basically in your old life you die and instead you pass onto the afterlife. I'm having some fun with your soul and throwing you into a certain 'world' I've gotten quite fond of, and to have some fun I'm throwing you in there."
???: "I'm sorry what-"
??? (Goddess): "Oh by the way you won't be op from jump. You're gonna have to work your way up. And your goal...well you realize it when you get in the world."
???: "Wait got damn min-"
??? (Goddess): "If you want to talk to me again you are going to have to get stronger and sooner or later we can have a chat."
???: "Do I at least know something about this world?!?"
??? (Goddess): "Oh you will, don't worry. Bye."
???: "Wait, I sti-" The Goddess snapped her fingers, and the person disappeared.
??? (Goddess): "I miss doing that."
We go to the said person who was teleported. They slowly opened their eyes and noticed they were in a green forest. They look down at themselves and see they at least have a plain T-shirt, blue jeans, and regular shoes.
???: "Well, at least she made sure I was wearing clothes before sending me down here." The person stood up. "Now, time to figure out just where was I isekai to. That goddess did say it would be a world I know. But, that could be a ton of different fantasy type worlds there. Well might as well look around and see."
The person begins to make their way through the forest; they walk what feels like hours when it is only a few minutes in reality. The person finally stops at some random tree to catch their breath.
???: "Where the hell am I? I haven't seen a single person? Ugh, kind of wish that freaking goddess would have dropped me somewhere close to a city or a town? You know, to give some type of guidance!"
As the person got up from leaning against the tree, he heard something in the brush not too far away. The person turns and stares at the bushes; soon, the sound stops; he waits a bit...then something pops up.
They Are bare-chested and bare-footed and have a large mane covering most of their head. They appear to have two elongated ears sticking out of their mane. The only clothing they wear is a loincloth, while their arms and legs are loosely wrapped in bandages, and they are wearing masks.
The person's eyes popped open, and he knew what these were, something he had seen countless times, Hilichurls!?!
???: "Hilichurls!?! Shit!"
The Hilichurls look at the man for a few minutes; the guy starts to walk backward slowly; all he can hope is that the Hilichurls would not do anything and move on-The Hilichurls make a sound and look angry right at the guy.
???: "Ah crap!!" The person turned and ran for it, with the Hilichurls running after him.
The person ran as fast as he could, but the Hilichurls still chased him. They started to pick up rocks and throw them at him.
???: "H-Hey!"
The person soon came to an opening passage and was in the open now; he turned to face the two Hilichurls; they stopped a few feet away and made sounds towards him.
???: "Alright, you damn...creature? People? Things? Whatever you are, if you think I'm going to let you kill me on my first night here! Think again! I might not have a vision, but I do have one thing!! I got these hands!!" The person got into a fighting stance.
The Hilichurls made sounds, got ready to fight, and started charging toward the person; a voice called out to him as he got ready to fight back.
???: "Hey, you! Stop right there!"
The person's head turned towards the sound and saw someone jump out of the tree's towards him and the Hilichurls. The mysterious person rolls as they land; they pull out a bow and charge an arrow with fire; before aiming it right at one of the Hilichurls. Hitting one right in the chest, causing it to roar in pain a bit.
The mysterious person then quickly aims again right at the other Hilichurls before firing four arrows, efficiently dealing with the Hilichurls. Both the people ease up from their stance.
??? (Bow user): "Are you ok? Those Hilichurls didn't hurt you did they?"
???: "No, I'm good thankfully, you came to my rescue thank you."
The main person got to look at their savior and saw, for one, this was a female, and they had long, dark brown hair, gold eyes, and fair skin. She's wearing a jumper-like outfit composed of dark brown leather shorts, a red hoodie-like top, red stockings, and white thigh-high boots embellished with gold linings and symbols. Aka, Amber.
Amber: "That's good to hear, I am Amber, Outrider for the Knights of Favonius. You must be new around here, I have never seen someone like you around Mondstadt. Plus, your clothes don't seem normal around here."
???: "Heheh, yeah I am. I um...suddenly woke up here."
Amber: "You just woke up here?"
???: "Yeah, I um... don't know how I got here. All I remember was this bright light, next thing I know, I'm here....heheh." Amber squirts her eyes at him. He gulped, putting his hands up to cover his face.
Amber: "I somewhat believe you, for now. But don't think I'm not going to keep an eye on you mister!"
???: "Alright, alright I understand. Jeez, I nearly forgot on the first meeting how suspicious Amber was toward the traveler."
Amber: "Any who, what's your name? I guess I should have asked that first?"
???: "My name! Oh shit!! I completely forgot to think of that! I mean I could just say my actual name...wait... what's my actual name! OH, got damn it!!! Think think...what is a name I can use that would fit in this world...I don't even remember my actual name...wait! I got one hopefully this work. Um, my name it's Aether...."
Amber: "Aether? That's a name I'm not familiar with?"
Aether: "Well I did say I wasn't from around here. Heheh. Please buy it!"
Amber: "Hmmm...well alright. Well, Aether to make sure you're ok I'll accompany you to the city of Mondstadt. It only makes sense to make sure since you have trouble with Hilichurls."
Aether: "Heheh, thanks." Aether took one step forward and stopped. "Wait, Amber can you wait here for one quick second. I...I need to check something."
Amber: "Hmm? Are you sure? I can come with? It's pretty dangerous out there! I should-"
Aether: "Don't worry. I'll be extra careful. I promise I'll come right back."
Amber looks directly at Aether, having a hard time wanting to trust him...after a bit, she sighs.
Amber: "Alright... I'll.... I'll trust you. You don't seem like someone who would set a trap."
Aether: "Pft, I wish. Plus, if I try you would kick my butt and anyone that's hiding." The two chuckled. "I'll be right back, I promise."
Amber: "Promise..."
Aether: "Promise. And if I'm in trouble, I'll yell as loud as I can."
Amber: "Alright, but whatever you're going to grab come right back here!!"
Aether: "Heheh, no problem."
Aether headed back towards the forest; he made his way up a path, then down another path, over a small cliff, and then to a beach. He stops at a specific spot and looks into the sea, proceeding to think.
Aether: 'Ok first I meet some random god whose name I don't even know. I do know that wasn't the unknown god that teleported Aether and Lumine here way back. She looks nothing like her, so it is safe to say this is the work of another god. But, what god is the question? She didn't seem hostile when she teleported me...more she was doing for fun? I just have to hope I run into her again in the future.'
Aether: 'Not only that, she was able to teleport me to the world or video game of Genshin. Wasn't expecting that at all!!! But last time I checked the game/world was in Sumeru? What does that mean for me? I knew some stuff about this world but not as much as others. But also what is my goal here? To meet that goddess again? Live normally in this world? But what about the real Aether and them? Are currently up in this world? I...I don't know.'
Aether: 'I mean if the real Aether is in this world and hasn't woken up yet. I'm somewhat in trouble! Taking someone else's name isn't the greatest thing. And I like Aether. He's a cool dude. Wish he was more powerful but that wasn't his fault. I need to think quickly, if I leave Amber alone for too long she is going to get suspicious of me. I want to stay on her good side.'
Aether then goes to another part of the beach and begins creating something.
Aether: 'But...depending if I can grab a certain emergency food.' Aether makes a fishing rod. He tossed the line out to sea and waited a bit. 'As much crap, I might want to give her. She is a critical part of this world and to Aether growth and more. Most people do not like it, she has a role to play in all of this. I just hope I can get her. Which will truly tell me what point in time I possibly could be in at the time of this world.'
Aether waited a bit, hoping to catch a particular flying companion. All Aether could do was wait and hope he sees the person he was looking for; after what felt like forever, he felt a tug. Aether pulls with strength, and out he pulls Paimon from the sea.
Aether: "Holy crap she was actually under there? That's mean...it right around the time the game would start. Does that mean I'm right around the point things get moving. Question for a bit later, first I need to help Paimon."
Aether brings Paimon to land and, after putting her on the sand, begins using one of his hands to push water out, and after a bit, Paimon coughs. Paimon soon opened her eyes and shot up a bit.
Paimon then begins to float a bit and look around. Paimon eyes landed on Aether.
Aether: "Umm...hi."
Paimon: "Are you the one who rescues Paimon?"
Aether: "Umm, yeah. I am."
Paimon: "Paimon, thank you for that but why are you fishing?"
Aether: "Um...reason."
Paimon: "Reason? Were you looking for food?"
Aether: "Um, somewhat. I kind of just had to grab something and well I randomly saw some air bubbles and saw if I could hook whatever it was."
Paimon: "Ah ok! Well, again Paimon thanks again. I guess Paimon owes you big time. I was wondering what your plan is from here on out?"
Aether: "Well...um...you see....I um...plan to help find a friend and his sister."
Paimon: "A friend and his sister?"
Aether: "Yeah you see I'm not from this world."
Paimon: *gasp*
Aether: "Many, many years ago my friend and his sister were fighting this...god. And in the fight the two got separated. I try to help out to stop the foe but well... I'm currently not that good at fighting. So, we end up getting separated. And not too long ago, I woke up in the forest. I decided to come look around to see if I could find either one of them. And now here we are."
Paimon: "Paimon is sorry to hear that. Well, do you know where you currently are?"
Aether: "All I know about this world is known as Teyvat."
Paimon: "I see. Well, for helping Paimon. Paimon will help you find this friend and their sister! Don't you worry!!"
Aether: *smile* "Heheh, thanks Paimon. You're the best."
Paimon: "Heheh!"
Aether: "I met someone native of this world, not too long ago. We shouldn't keep them waiting too long."
Paimon: "Lead the way!!"
Aether and Paimon begin to make their way back to Amber on their way back; Aether starts to think.
Aether: 'For one coming up with that on the spot wasn't all too bad, for now, I should stick with that story. That i'm looking for the real Aether and Lumine. Hopefully, I can get the answer to that and a reason to explore the world. Now if my memory serves me correctly. The real Aether caught Paimon and spent time with her for two months to learn the language and a bit about the world of Teyvat. Since I haven't seen Venti or the giant dragon, it is safe to say I have two months to get Aether's basic fighting style down, which won't be too hard. I hope.'
Paimon: "Oh wowwwww!"
Aether looked up and saw him over the cliff. From the top of the hill, he could see the Statue of the Seven and Amber by the forest.
Paimon: "That's a Statue of The Seven! There are a few of these statues scattered across the land to show The Seven's protection over the world. Among the seven gods, this god controls the wind."
Aether: 'Also the god of liquor. And the first Archon/god to tell us...these gods got some demons in them! And not the good kind.'
Paimon: "Paimon's not sure whether the god you're looking for is the Anemo God, but...Paimon think she should take you to the Anemo God's place first."
Aether: "Well this is a region from what I know of, might as well start somewhere." The two begin to make their way toward the statue.
Paimon: "Definitely be someone there who knows about your friend and their sister. That's what Paimon thinks! Whether the gods actually answer you is a different story. You never know unless you try. So, let's hope for it!"
Aether: "Yeahhhh....Well we don't learn about the other sibling until Sumeru. I still make some plans on how I'm going to go about this." The two of them soon reach a lake.
Paimon: "You can swim right over!...You can swim right?"
Aether: "Um...yeahhhh. I'm pretty sure I was an iron duck...wait, how do I know I was an iron duck? *ahem* Well, there's only one way to find out." Aether hops into the lake, begin to swim over, and learns he can swim pretty well. 'Oh good the goddess wasn't dick; she gave me the ability to swim.'
Aether went up to the statue and touched it. He could feel the power of it, the power of Anemo.
Paimon: "Ooh! Did you just feel the elements of the world? Seems all you had to do was touch the statue, and you got the power of Anemo! As much as they may want it, people in this world can never get a hold of powers as easily as you...."
Aether: "Might be because I'm not from this world."
Paimon: "True. Well, hopefully it can help you when it comes in a pinch. Too bad you suck at fighting right now."
Aether: "Ouch, thanks Paimon."
Paimon: "What?! It's the truth! You said it yourself. We should get moving, if we keep heading west from here, we'll eventually reach Mondstadt, the City of Freedom. Mondstadt is the city of wind, because they worship the God of Anemo. So perhaps, because you got power from the God of Anemo, you can find some clues there. There are also lots of bards there, so perhaps one of them has heard news of your friends."
Aether: "Heheh, yeahhhh."
Paimon: "You ok? You sound like you don't want to find them?"
Aether: "Oh nothing like that. I think when we get there... I'm gonna have to ask for help for training because it would be kind of foolish of me to go out exploring with the experience I have now. I would get murder in less then a second!"
Paimon: "True, but do you have the power of Anemo."
Aether: "Yeah... let's go meet up with the person I was talking to earlier. I'm sure she worried sick about me."
Paimon: "Ooooh it's a she, hmmm." Paimon had a smirk.
Aether: "H-Hey don't you start that!"
The two got past the lake and went into the forest; after traveling a bit, Aether and Paimon soon found Amber looking around worrisome.
Aether: "Amber!" Amber turned, saw Aether, and ran toward him before stopping right in front of him.
Amber: "You're ok! You really had me worried there for a minute! Who is this mascot?"
Aether: "Amber this is Paimon. Paimon, this is Amber. I found Paimon where I told you I'll be heading really quick. Paimon, this is Amber, the person I told you we had to meet up with. Sorry about making you worried."
Amber: "You better be sorry. I wouldn't know what I would have done if I knew I let you run off back into the forest and nearly got yourself killed."
Aether: "Hey, hey I'm sorry. I don't want to make a person like you worry about me. I'm sorry."
Amber: "I...*sigh* I forgive you."
Aether: "That's good. By the way Amber, I well in turn us; found out something super cool. I can use the power of this land." Aether made a little wind ball in the palm of his hand.
Amber: "Woah, that impressive. I don't see a vision attached to you either. You must be a special case for this. I have never seen anything like this."
Aether: "Yeah guess I am. Heheh, and it's all thanks to this emergency food here for giving me the advice to tell how to get it."
Paimon: "Em-EMERGENCY FOOD!! How could you! Paimon isn't emergency food." Aether chuckled at Paimon, a small fit.
Amber: "Well we should get to the city. We can shelter you there and help you plan out your next course of action."
Aether: "That will be greatly appreciated."
The three of them made their way to the city of Mondstadt. Aether's journey will begin by exploring the world of Teyvat and making a name for himself.
This is the story of...getting Isakai into the world of Genshin Impact.
End of Chapter.
Notes:
And that's was the prologue!! I would like welcome you all to my attempt at doing the so call 'Remaster' type fic. I wouldn't call a remastered just something I want to try with doing a few things different and my take on some thing I would do in Genshin if I choose a few things! But that with my current knowledge.
To make one thing clear like I said in my Children of Aether fic; I am NOT A DEEP GENSHIN PLAYER!! I have only been playing for over a year! And I still know some things! I am NOT whale! I'm not a really f2p, I would say the term for me is a dolphin I want to say. But when it comes to deep into Genshin lore and stuff. I Know somethings! NOT A LOT! So if you come for me to call out something in the world and in depth type genshin story, I'm sorry I'm not that good of a writer and that deep into the Genshin pool. This is a unique I want to do and want to see more of.
I do want to say, for one why did I go with Aether name even though it's not really him? Well, it's felt it would be right to keep the name and have some interesting moments to happen in the future I have come up with and plan.
I still will be following the story of Genshin put I will also put some my own mini arcs in the stories to give it's own flair.
Oh and should say this...it's a harem. Is it a big one or small one? Currently medium. I haven't decided it I want to be a big harem or not. That is something I will leave up to you all. I will let you decide. More on that next chatper. And...there will be lemon so yeah! That's going be fun!!!
Other then that, Tell me what you think? What you like? What you dislike? What you think might happen next? Etc.
Thanks for reading and until next time...later.
Genshin Impact own by Mihoyo.

Chapter Text
It has been about a good month since I got into Teyvat. And a couple of things happen. Currently, I'm in the city of Mondstadt, aka the city of wind. Aka, the first major city in this world holds a special place in my heart.
Amber thought it was a good idea I've used a notebook or a journal; to keep a log of different things that happen and my experience. Something I feel is a good idea.
To start, when I got into the city, we grabbed something to eat from Good Hunters from Sara. And I will admit...the food here is freaking delicious. I can see why the Paimon loves eating so much. If the starting food was this good? How good are some of the more complex foods to make in the future taste? Future experiments to note.
After that, I noted some more exciting people in Mondstadt, the playable characters. I saw Noelle, Sucrose, Barabara, and even Klee around the city. Definitely going to have to make sure I form a bond with them all. We then made our way toward the Knights HQ, where I met the rest of the knights. Well, most of them.
I met Lisa (a mommy), Kaeya (a troll), and Jean (a babe!). And, of course, Amber (Another waifu). I have yet to meet some other captains, mainly Eula and Albedo. Which makes sense. It's gonna take some time before I meet them.
Amber introduced them to Paimon and me, and I told them my goal for finding my friends. I will stick with that story as my goal; if I want any hope to explore Teyvat. As much as I love Mondstadt, I can't only stay locked down to one region during the time. But I will spend much time in each region just like Aether did.
Once that was done, they believed it would make the most sense for me to join the adventure guild; it would allow me to travel to different regions to find these friends of mine. But they will always help me if they can. I then had to figure out where I would stay for the time!?!
And it wasn't long before Amber said I could stay with her!?! I was happy inside, but I won't lie...I was blushing when she said that. Which did cause her to blush as well. After some teasing from the others, Amber showed us her place, which was really cozy!! Even though I had to sleep on the couch with Paimon, I didn't have any complaints since it would be way better than camping outside. Not looking forward to that in the future.
The next day, I needed some better clothes than the clothes I was wearing. I was already getting some weird looks because of how I dressed. They would make me put on the Adventure guild outfit, but...I was not going to wear that outfit. I'm sorry, but that fit is ugly!
I would rather wear the Knights' outfit, and their gear is...alright. Look, I had to stand out somewhat if I planned to go out in the world, and the last thing I wanted to look like was one Santa damn elf.
THANKFULLY!! Amber was able to use her connection and get an outfit tailor for me not too soon after. And I had to use someone else's outfit as a base, and the only one I liked for males, at least whose outfit looked pretty cool, was Albedo. But, since I have yet to meet him, I just had to say the outfit his divisions usually wear; the alchemist's uniform. But of course, I wanted the color to be different.
But because it would take a few days, I had to wear the darn Adventure guild outfit...I wanted to die. Paimon got a good laugh out of it. I'm going to get payback; wait for that little flying food fairy, wait and see.
Thankfully the outfit only took three days tops to get done. It was a long red coat with short sleeves, a black hood, an indigo shirt, a pair of black shorts, embellished thigh-high black boots with golden accents, and long black gloves.
I like how it turned out. As exciting and relaxed as the actual Aether outfit was, I'm not him. And if I play a few things differently than him, I have to stand out on my own.
After that was settled, I knew the next important thing to do. Training!! I have only two months to get some skills to me if I want to have a chance for when things kick off. And at the time, all I had to me was the ability to use the power of anemo. But besides that, I was basically useless.
I have to get stronger, and I can't be a total joke. Thankfully the knights were really chill about letting me train with them. And they had weapons lying around I could use. Part of me wanted to be able to use all the different weapons in this world. But, I knew it would take much longer in the future, and to be fair, I'm not very confident in using catalysts and bows. I can come back and rethink this in the future, but I should still follow some things in this world.
And given what felt the most natural was a sword, I decided to go with the basic sword. Yeah, when I think about it sounds bland, but you can never go wrong with it. My first sword was actually the silver sword.
I was surprised; it wasn't the dull blade, but I'm not complaining. It wouldn't matter since I don't plan to keep this sword as my main sword. I know there are better swords out there, and in each region, I'll explore; I'm going to keep getting better swords, but I have to start at the bottom before making my way up.
Once I got my sword, I started my training, and for the first few days, it didn't take long for me to get used to wielding a sword. The god who teleports me here allows me to pick up skills much more accessible. Or is it, thank Celestia? Let's say go with thank Celestia given this world.
After the first week of training, I had no trouble beating most of the Knights of Favonius. Going into the second week of training...given I had already made a name for myself, I soon got the attention of the captains of the Knights. I still remember how it was talking to some of them...
Aether was making his way through the cafeteria, getting some food they were serving.
Aether: 'I didn't even know they had a cafeteria?! I don't know if I've always been here. But it saves me mora. I'm gonna have to take a job soon or later...I just want to gain some more skill first.'
Paimon: "Hi!!"
Aether: "AH!" Aether jumps slightly. "God, Paimon, you scare the daylight of me."
Paimon: "Sorry. Paimon wanted to see how you are doing since we have been here for a good week now."
Aether: "I'm enjoying Mondstadt; all the people here are super nice, it's so cozy and warm here."
Paimon: "That's true but don't forget the whole reason what we're doing."
Aether: "I haven't forgotten. I'm just making sure I gain some skills before we start our search. I don't want to go out there and get ripped to shreds."
Paimon: "I guess you're right. So Paimon is wondering how your training is coming along?"
Aether: "It's going well. The Knights were super helpful. Soon or later we are going to have to take commission for the adventure guild. Got to have a way for us to have money without relying on Amber mora she gave us. I want to pay her back as soon as possible."
Paimon: "She did let us crash at her place while we were here in Mondstadt. That was really kind of her. Paimon will admit that was super nice of her.... Paimon just wishes Amber was a better cook."
Aether: "Heheh, I'm sure she'll get there in the future." Aether took a sip from his glass of water.
???: "So you're the adventurers that have been around making a name for themselves."
Aether turned his head to the side and saw a tall, elegant woman with a pale complexion and multicolored heterochromatic eyes that faded from dark purple to pale yellow. She has choppy, unevenly cut light blue hair. Above her bangs, she is wearing a black headband and a four-pointed silver, white, and blue hairpin to her left. She wears a blue cape on her right shoulder, with her Cyro Vision pinned. Aether knew who this was, Eula Lawrence.
Aether nearly spits out his water.
Eula: "Are you ok?"
Aether: "Um, yeah...I wasn't expecting to meet you so soon Eula."
Eula: "Oh you heard of me?!?"
Aether: "CRAP!!! That's right!?! Um, y-yeah! I've been around the knights for a week and was hearing how great the knights are." Aether looks off to the side, sweating.
Eula: "Other knights have been talking about me? Would you mind telling me what they say and who said it so I know who exact my vengeance on."
Aether: "Ah there the vengeance thing. Well if you must know they praise how hardworking you are and how you almost make a point to take care of your squadron. Saying how powerful you are, you are very reliable. And many respect you."
Eula: *surprised a bit* "R-Really? I mean *ahem* I see...care to tell me who these people are."
Aether: "I don't remember their names, sorry." Aether was sweating while chuckling.
Eula: "I see. Well, allow me to introduce myself. Probably I am Eula Lawrence, Captain of the Knights of Favonius Reconnaissance Company. I have heard we have someone from the adventure guild training with the knights and has gotten very skilled. Some have said he is just as strong as a captain, others saying he might be stronger than a captain."
Aether: "I wouldn't say that. I'm nowhere close to a captain level. Yeah I can hold my own a bit, but to say I match a captain is ridiculous."
Eula: "Hm? You're a lot more modest and humble. I guess Amber was lying about that part."
Aether: "Eh?"
Eula: Is it true that you use the power of anemo without a vision?
Aether: "Yes, I can." Aether made a little wind ball in his palm before getting rid of it.
Eula: "Hmmm interesting. My next question: where have you been staying?" Eula glared a bit at Aether.
Aether: *sweating* "Ummmm...."
Paimon: "Oh that's easy, we've been staying at a Knight member's house named Amber. Paimon believes she is super awesome and cool. Her and Aether always talk before each goes to bed. Paimon swears something is already brewing between the two." Paimon put her hands to her chin and began to think.
Aether: 'PAIMON I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!!!'
Eula: "Oh!?!"
Aether: "H-Hang on! I sleep on the couch! I totally on the first-two maybe part the third one I didn't see Amber only in a shirt and some panties...And I just that outloud... didn't I."
Eula: "Yes. I think we should have a nice chat with each other alone."
Aether: "Can we at least someone there so make sure I don't have a broken arm at least."
Eula: "No."
Amber: "Eula what are you doing here?" The two turned and saw Amber walking up to the two of them. "I told you Aether has been a great roommate. Can you not go and scare him? He is not some prev or anything."
Aether: 'I mean I do find like 92% of the female characters with vision pretty cute and hot. But I don't want my arm to turn into a popsicle, so I'm gonna stay silent.'
Eula: "I'm just making sure. I still can't believe you trust a complete stranger to sleep in your house. What would happen if he tried to grope you or something?"
Aether & Amber: "HEY!"
Amber: "I trust Aether and he hasn't betrayed that trust yet. Don't worry Eula, I know you're just looking out for me. If there's any issue I'll come to you first, Eula."
Eula: "*sigh* I know I'm just worried about you." Eula then sharply turned her head at Aether. "Don't think this is over, I will have my vengeance on you." Eula walked away.
Aether: "Umm, she means good kind vengeance right?...Right?"
Amber: "Ummm, be careful heheh." Amber chuckled and rubbed the back of her head.
Aether: "Oh great!!!"
Later in the week, I would meet the other captain I have yet to meet, Albedo.
Aether has just got done putting a crate into the lab of the Knight HQ. As he looked around at all the experiments, he was in awe and could see why Sucrose spent most of her time here. If Aether wanted to befriend Sucrose since he has a soft spot for her, he's been having difficulty running into her or even starting up a conversation. As Aether continues to look around,
???: "Hello there."
Aether: "AH!"
Aether jumps and turns around to see a young man with bright teal eyes, three dots in his iris, and pale skin. He has pale blond hair reaching below his shoulders, partially pulled back in a braided half ponytail. A gold diamond marking can be found on his neck. Aka: Albedo.
Albedo: "I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you. I just came by and grabbed something from the lab."
Aether: "No, no it's ok. I should be paying attention to where I'm going. Um, hi I'm Aether."
Albedo: "Ah so you're the traveler that has been making themselves a name with the knights. I have been hearing things about you. It's nice to meet you, I am Albedo, Chief Alchemist of the Knights of Favonius. You give off a strange energy."
Aether: "Umm...is it a good aura?"
Albedo: "For now yes. Sorry that's come off a little weird, I'm interested in learning many different things in this world. I have to ask, is it true you can manipulate the power of anemo without a vision?"
Aether: "I can." Aether made the wind ball he showed Eula early in the week.
Albedo: "Fascinating. If not too much to ask in the future would it be ok if I study you a bit?"
Aether: "In the future? Yeah, I don't see why not. I can tell you're a good guy."
Albedo: "You trust me that quickly? I thought you would have put up more of a wall from allowing me to do something like that?"
Aether: "Well it's just like you say about me. I give off a good aura. And I can tell just from looking at you Albedo. You're a good person, I heard you enjoy being alone a lot. But, I heard nothing but good things from my short time being here. And I know all you don't mean the people you care for any harm."
Albedo: "Hm. You are one unique person Aether."
Aether: "Heheh, something tells me I'm going to have to get used to that. By the way, does a green-haired girl wearing the knights uniform work in this division?"
Albedo: "Ah you mean Sucrose then yes? Is there any reason you are looking for her?"
Aether: "Oh, I've seen her around when I walk around Mondstadt. And I was always interested in talking to her for a bit. But, I never get a chance, that's all."
Albedo: "Ah I see. Sucrose is a very talented alchemist specializing in bio-alchemy, she also serves as an assistant for me. She can be a little anti-social so it's gonna take some time before you might be able to talk to her."
Aether: "Ah I see. Well, thank you. I should get going, I drop the supply that was asked to be dropped here off. It was nice meeting you Albedo."
Albedo: "Likewise." Aether left the room and went on with his day.
After some training, I would get to know some of the more critical knights. Amber and I always found time to talk whenever she was on break, or I was done for the day. Getting to know her, I can see why so many people fell in love with her. She was fantastic and sweet.
Another knight I befriended not too soon after Noelle. ONLY SHIT IS SHE STRONG!!! After helping the knight with some task, I saw one carrying 4 crates ALONE!?! I went to help, only for her to say she got it. After she was done, we got acquainted with each other. Noelle was shocked someone like me was talking to me, to which I was surprised at first?
I learn from Noelle because some knights have given me the honorary knight nickname!?! I was taken back so soon? I wasn't aiming for that title until after the two months when things kicked off.
Since I have been such a big help to the knights and have been hanging out with them a lot, doing tasks around the City, and seeing how my skills seem to be gaining more attention from the knights they saw fit, I should get a title myself. I felt proud of myself for getting that title three weeks in, even though I didn't deserve the title.
I was given my first commission with some of the knights shortly after. I was asked to lead a small handful of knights and clear out a small camp of Hilichurls. I felt like I could do it myself, but I wasn't saying no to Jean.
The commission was easy and is a little to discuss. Besides, I basically made sure the knights stayed together and held firm while making sure no Hilichurls escaped past me; since I decided it would be an excellent spot to see how far my training had come.
I could efficiently deal with the enemies and got to use my elemental skills, Palm Vortex and Gust Surge! And I won't lie; seeing some of the Hilichurls trying to escape the tornado was pretty cool.
The knights even got some action since we had another wave coming toward us. I told them the Knights have to step up and we should help the Acting GrandMaster. She shouldn't have to rely on the captains to get everything done. The regular knights can carry some of the workloads.
I might be traveling around Teyvat for my own reason, but like Aether, I plan to help out in my own way. I at least want things somewhat easy on Jean; I know she pushes herself too hard. Given how most of the knights are a joke to me, honestly, to the other regions' military might. I want them to be somewhat competent.
It was a morale boost for many of them; with me helping them, we handled the wave of enemies with no trouble. An Axe Mitachurls did appear at one point in the tide, but with some of my calls, by having some of the knights sticking its legs to stun it, allowing me to deal some heavy damage, we crushed the commission with no casualty.
Once we returned to the Knight HQ, the Knights who went with me were so happy and proud. They were heaping my praise. Something I was not used to, to be honest. Later, I learned the knights decided to throw a small party for me, celebrating and thanking me for all I had done. It felt...nice.
At the party, I got to talk to many other Knights and meet other people from Mondstadt; I finally got to speak to Barbara, Lisa, and even Rosaria!?! I was surprised to find out that the last one was there!?!
The party was definitely an eventful one for sure.
Aether walks up to Lisa.
Lisa: "Well if it's a little cutie how are you doing."
Aether: "Heh, I will never get used to you calling me that."
Lisa: "I think it's cute. And seem you don't mind, I wonder why." Lisa cracks a smirk causing Aether to blush. "I'm just teasing, cutie...or am I?"
Aether: "Please stop!!" Aether had to cover his face to hide his blush.
Lisa: *giggles* "I must say, cutie, you definitely have been making a name for yourself."
Aether: "Heheh, thanks. I don't think I have told much here. Really you all have helped me a lot more than anything. I owe a lot to Amber. I really should be the one who saved me back in the forest, gave me a place to stay, got me these clothes, and even got you all to help me. I owe a lot to her and you all."
Lisa: "Awww it that sweet, but cutie I can tell you just being here and everything you have done has been a huge help. More than you think. But this party is for you, you should go enjoy yourself instead of chatting with little old me."
Aether: "I don't think you're that old Lisa, your very beautiful lady who should give herself so much more credit." He smiled at her.
Lisa: "Ara, ara I didn't know you were such a flirt Aether. Are you trying to shoot your shot with me?"
Aether went to open his mouth and realized what he said and proceeded to blush, close his mouth, then excuse himself. Lisa giggles at him.
Aether went to another table where he saw both Barbara and Rosaria!?!
Aether: "Ah hello? I haven't properly introduce myself I'm-"
Rosaria: "You're that adventure who's been spending most of his time with the Knights. You were given the nickname the Honorary Knights. We know who you are."
Aether: "Ah...I see."
Barbara: "It nice to meet you mister Honorary Knight, my name is Barbara Pegg and this is Rosaria we are a part of the Church of Favonius. It is a pleasure to finally meet you."
Aether: "It's a pleasure to meet both of you ladies as well. I hope you all enjoy this party."
Barbara: "We are, I must say I'm sure you must be quite happy and proud with this party being thrown right now. People of Mondstadt are hearing all about your good deeds."
Aether: "Heheh, thanks. To be honest I'm a little surprised they threw this party. I don't think I have done much to be fair."
Rosaria: "I guess what Kaeya was saying is you're a very modest person he wasn't joking. Look I'll be honest when I heard about you I was very skeptical. Given we heard you can use the power of anemo, you want to join the adventure guild but still went out your way to help the Knights. I wanted to see if you had any ulterior motives."
Barbara: "Rosaria!!?"
Aether: "Nah it's ok Barbara. I know Rosaria is just looking out for the safety of the city. I don't blame her."
Rosaria: "How do you know, I wasn't trying to find a perfect moment to get rid of you?"
Aether: "Well, given from what I gather if I was a threat or you saw me as a threat for real. You wouldn't waste a second to strike. Plus, you came to this party and decided to tell me how you felt. I can respect it."
Rosaria: ".... You're a strange case Aether."
Aether: "Heh, thanks."
Rosaria: "I'm going get a drink. Enjoy the party." Rosaria left the two of them.
Barbara: "I'm sorry about her. Rosaria does mean well."
Aether: "It's ok. I think she is already warming up to me." Aether put his hands on his hips and smiled.
Barbara: *smiles* "Well, I hope you enjoy the party. I think you have done very well already. Please keep up the great work. Now I need to talk to Je-I mean the acting Grandmaster." Barbara walked away.
Aether: 'I have to remember Barbara doesn't want people to know her and Jean are related. I always wonder why? But to be fair, if my older sibling was a famous person or basically the leader of the military power of the regions. I wouldn't want people to know we're related.'
Paimon: "Boo!"
Aether: "AHH!"
Paimon: "Heheh, Paimon got you good!"
Aether: "Paimon, dear Celestia you scared the crap out of me."
Paimon: "You got to get better at that, you keep zoning out." Aether gave Paimon a stare. "Anyway, Paimon wanted to see how you are doing and how you are feeling?"
Aether: "I'm doing pretty well, I'm happy everyone is having a good time at this party. Have you devoured an entire section of the food available yet?"
Paimon: "What?! No! Paimon isn't that...." Aether gave Paimon a -_- look. "Ok...maybe Paimon ate most of the food already."
Aether: "Most?"
Paimon: "More like...2/4 of it."
Aether: "What is your stomach made out of!?! A black hole!?!"
Paimon: "Hey! Paimon likes good FOOD! Can you blame her!?"
Aether: "No...to be honest no. The food is pretty good here."
Paimon: "You better get your plate before Paimon gets it." Paimon crossed her arms and chuckled.
Jean: "May I have everyone's attention." Everyone turned their attention to the front of the hall. "As I was many, you made known this party is for the Honorary Knight who has gone out his way to help us Knights in many things." Many of the knight's smile. "If it isn't much to ask, I would like to ask Aether to come front and center."
Aether was taken back by this, but after gathering his bearing, he made his way next to Jean.
Jean: "Aether on the behalf of the knights for all the things you have done for us this past month since you got here. I want to say thank you and from all of us we like to honor you with this special design medal from the Knights as an official Honorary Knight for us."
It was a silver and golden emblem with the design that most visions from Mondstadt have as the outer layer, with the wings from the anemo symbol spreading further out and two swords forming an X in the middle.
Aether's mouth gasps open but then smiles and stands at attention as best as he can while Jean pins him. Once she steps back and allows everyone to see Aether, the people in the hall begin to clap and cheer for Aether. Aether was blushing from embarrassment.
Jean: "But that's not it." Aether looked at Jean, confused. "It has been brought to my attention that today's commission went fairly well. Many Knights have praised and praised your outstanding leadership and drive on the commission."
Aether: "Oh that, heheh it wasn't all that. I'm sure countless people could have done what I did. I just did what I saw was right and got the Knights some motivation to help you out and all."
Jean: "Aether...*ahem* For that I must say thank you. I was hoping to save this for a little later, but it seems many of the knights want this to happen sooner."
Aether: "Hmm?"
Jean: "Aether, I understand you have a journey to go on to find your friends. But many of the knights saw fit and wouldn't mind giving you your own division, in charge of." Some of the audience members gasp.
Aether: "You can do that?"
Jean: "All I will have to do is get some paperwork done and have many of the knights and even the adventure guild to sign off on it and it can happen."
Aether: "Wow...I...I don't know what to say."
Jean: "We would like to ask if you would like to take the opportunity to be a captain of your own set of knights, and help us out when the time's come."
Aether: "I..." Aether thought about it a bit and then looked up and smiled. "I do."
Jean: "Then I hereby appoint you captain of the Honorary Knight platoon."
The crowd cheer, claps, and whistles for Aether.
Jean: "Will talk more about what mainly your squadron will be in charge of; but for tonight enjoy the party. You earn it!"
For the rest of the knights, Aether enjoys his time with all the knights, joking, smiling, and having a good time. And at one point in the knights, Amber got pretty drunk, giving Aether a kiss on the cheek before cheering and nearly passing out from drinking. Aether did have a blush.
Aether smiles, remembering that night. He opened his eyes and went back to writing in his journal.
Once that night ended, I had to carry Amber home, to which I will admit drunk Amber is very adorable. I didn't drink any liquor. I'm not too fond of the taste, funny enough. Something I remember from my past life, I guess. I'll admit it was a hassle to get out of her grip once I put her down on her bed. I DIDN'T THINK THAT GIRL WAS THAT STRONG!! But I was able to give her one of her pillows to use as a prisoner.
I wanted to give her Paimon to crush in her grip, but I decided to be kind to the little fairy for now. Paimon, thankfully hasn't been too much of a problem.
After that, I fixed Amber some breakfast, and it was clear she remembered what she did at the party because when she made eye contact with me, both of our faces got super red. It was a very quiet morning, to say the least. After, Amber and I had a hard time starting a conversation. If it wasn't for Paimon, the atmosphere would be much, much more awkward!!
But there is something significant I want to do differently in this world. I can play differently than Aether did. I know he can use all the elements and has been shown to use more than one at a time. I plan to do that, but one thing I want to see and try...can I learn other people's element skills or something close?
It was always clear Aether is getting stronger as the journey goes and soon has to be equal to that of an archon in the future and probably higher. But we never got to truly see that; I didn't get to see it.
So why not try to see if I can learn something more with each element from different people. Can I create something similar to Jean Gale Blade and maybe not the same as her Dandelion Breeze but something close? I have to ask her to teach me how she does it in the future. And if I can, it would allow me to be one huge difference from 'Aether' and set myself apart more.
Currently, though, for Anemo, there are only three users here in Mondstadt, which, honestly, now I think about it. It is shocking how little there is of Anemo in the region of Anemo!?! There are more Pyro and Cyro here. Sucks I can't learn any of their skills until I get to their regions...oh god!
But that brings me to something else I want to do since I'm in this world now. Given how there are so many pretty ladies in this world, is it possible to get a harem? I know, I know, it sounds selfish of me. It's just so hard to choose one. I like Amber a lot, but I also love the girls that I will meet in the future. Such as Ayaka, Mona, Ganyu, etc.
But the other question is if I can...do I try to go for all ladies with vision or only go for a small handful. Right now, if I can get a harem, I'm just thinking of having a small harem. Since I'm sure trying to please so many ladies. As great as that sound will take a toll on a guy. I'll set my sights on just a few from each region.
As crazy as it sounds, I'm trying to find a way to get some people with visions to travel with me. As cool as it would be to travel alone and stuff with Paimon. I want to be different from the 'real' Aether. I can't believe he travels with just the two of them.
But to be fair, his mission was much different, and it was much harder to get people to travel with him and stuff. I think.
At first, it would seem difficult, which it still is; but thanks to my promotion makes it a bit easier. After talking to Jean, she explained that I would be an extension of the Knights traveling around Teyvat and choose knights I see fit to join in my platoon.
I ask if I can choose those who aren't even in the knights if they want to join. Thankfully Jean said yes. I already have a few names in mind who would be perfect attention to the team. I have to meet them first. But one person I want to join me...Amber.
I have found a good time to talk to her and more. Today, I have a special mission/commission. Jean didn't tell me what it was; all she told me was I would be teaming up with someone outside the knights but still help them with some things? Who is it? I should get going then; I don't want to keep them waiting; I'm supposed to meet them at Angel Share.
I also got a better sword; I'm now using the Harbinger of Dawn. An upgrade, but I know there are other better swords out there. But it is a step in the right direction. I should get going.
Aether closes his journal and locks it to ensure no one can get into it. He put it away as well. Aether grabbed his sword, put on his outfit, and made his way to angel shares. On the way there, Aether and Paimon begin to talk.
Paimon: "So what do you think today's Commission is about?"
Aether: "From what Jean has told me we are teaming up with a pretty skillful person to check out some ruins that possibly a group called the abyss order might be setting up a base."
Paimon: "Ooooh sounds interesting. Hopefully the pay is good for this one."
Aether: "Heh, you're right. Hopefully, I can find something about my friends. Hopefully it's Lumine leading the abyss because if it's Aether... I'm in trouble."
Paimon: "You think the abyss order might have some answer?"
Aether: "Possibly, but we only can wait and see."
Paimon: "Hopefully whoever we teaming up with can do the heavy lifting, Paimon doesn't want to have to fight."
Aether: "You already don't fight as it IS!?!"
Paimon: "Paimon does! Paimon is there for moral support!!"
Aether: "Good going flying mascot."
Paimon: "I....ugh! Paimon doesn't have a comeback for that."
Aether: "HA!!!" Aether begins to think. 'Wait...a person who used to work with the Knights? Jean respects? Ask for someone who isn't really with the knights? Strong? Meeting at angel-share!?!'
The two of them soon got inside, looked around, and saw the table they were supposed to meet the person they would team up with for this mission/Commission. They walked over to the table, and there was; a tall and slender man with pale skin, red eyes, and bright red hair worn in a low ponytail that extended to his mid-back. Wearing a black dress shirt, a long white vest, and a black ascot with a red gem. Over this, he dons a dark brown coat. He wears black pants, which are embellished with chains on his right thigh, while his Vision is attached to a belt.
???: "I'm guessing your Aether and Paimon, I presume."
Paimon: "That's us! Who are you?"
Diluc: "My name is Diluc. Diluc Ragnvindr."
Aether: 'Well if isn't mister first powerful character in the game!!'
End of Chapter.
Notes:
And that's the chapter!!!
Alright. let's talks about a few things. For one, I wanted to open up with something; given this Aether already knows how to speak the language of Teyvat, that's shave two months right before the game kick off. So, how do things different from start? Well, let's have Aether train a bit and start getting to know some of the people of Mondstadt, the first region! A region I still love, it just feel good.
Something you all already can see for one Aether already got different swords! Yeah, no i'm sticking with the same sword! You be out your mind thinking I'm using the freaking dull blade all the way through! HECK NO! Another thing, I'm getting this clothes! Wouldn't make sense since this isn't the 'real' Aether to wear his clothes. Got be different you know.
I still want keep some unique this and something about the actually game. So I stuck with a sword. I'm sure many of you wants me to use other weapons but I'm a sucker for swords and I feel not to make Aether too ridiculous overpower in the future. He's already going be pretty fucking powerful in the future can't make him bursted. I like OP MC sometimes (If done right) but, I don't want to do that here fully.
Another thing I want to do different is have Aether is not only will I for sure be using the other elements when I get them! But also learn skills from other visions user of the element! I always found it weird that state Aether can use all the elements in the game when he get access to it! But, for gameplay we can only use one? Like I get why make other characters the game have playable can't have your starting character in gacha broken (for some reason). But I really wish they let traveler use all the elements make him stand out. I use the traveler for...somethings. Look I have him lvl 90 I might as well!
So here Aether will learn skills of that element from other user of that element. Will he do the exact thing? No? But he make learn things close enough to it. Make him truly have growth and slowly become a powerful force in Teyvat.
Now onto two of the bigger question. Now as gameplay point we know use have a team with you and stuff. In lore it really just the traveler. Which, I always found funny. So why not incorporate the whole team thing. I'm sure it will make some interesting moment come up in the future.
Now onto the team thing, I will let you all decide on some of the characters who should be able to join the team/crew. Now give a good reason for that character other then, I feel like they should. If you can give me a good reason, they have higher chance to join. Now! Be reasonable please for some of them. Some characters cannot join the party permanently! I know I said I was doing something different, but not everything.
For example Eula cannot permanently join the party! Aether and them can team up with them and stuff. But to have them permanently isn't happening.
I do have some characters in mind. But, I will like to hear you all idea and see I can gain another perspective. Since many of you are more knowledgeable then me when it comes to genshin.
Whoever you choose remember will have to bond with other members, so view this somewhat of like Xenoblade Chronicles a bit. And they will also have to bond with the other members of the Harem.
Which brings me to the other point I want to bring up, I will let all decide who is in the harem. I do have some people in mind. (If haven't read the tags). But I have yet to decide on the full harem. Since part of me wants it be a small harem but I have learn if I learn ANYTHING from Genshin and my Children of Aether fic, more waifu keep coming...and people going want there waifu to be include.
The issue is I don't know if I want as a massive harem aka the entire female fucking roaster! Or keep it small. As much as it sucks I want it somewhat medium with most of the characters we got now because it allow more growth in the characters and can have interesting moments with some instead of going for ALL and trying to juggle something that BIG! And because let's be honest...I'm going have to keep in mind and make room for the future girls in the future who will join from the other regions.
Aka, we still got Sumeru still going large we already know there dropping at LEAST 3-4 more female characters before we go to hydro region! And we still have that region! So Please, keep that in mind. When choosing member of the harem, I haven't already put in the tag.
For first member for sure is Amber! Because I'm not going lie, I kind cheated the Amber x Aether fans in my Children of Aether fic! SOOOOO! This is part of me making up for it!
Other then that, Tell me what you think? What you like? What you dislike? What you think might happen next? Etc.
Thanks for reading and until next time...later.

Notes:
Howdy, Howdy folks! Yes, as you can see this book is getting updated! And that's means I am BACK!! Yep, Slayer is back and he's here to drop off an update to this book. As well not only this book! But other books as well!
So hope you all enjoy this fic as well the other's one that got updated as well. For Genshin stuff just know it's going be a bit before I updated again given I'm SO FAR BEHIND and I don't want to rush going through my world again and want to enjoy it. Even though Natlan is right around the corner now...shit.
But beside that; enjoy this chapter.
Enjoy.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Aether and Paimon take a seat at the table. The two look at the man across the table from them. Someone Aether knew very well, Diluc Ragnvindr, was a former knight, but he left after his father's death. Since then, Diluc has had a weird relationship with them.
Aether knew he didn't outright hate all of them, but he heavily disliked many things they did or didn't care for them. It didn't help he was basically considered one of the top 3 strongest in Mondstadt; it was always up for debate who was stronger, him or Jean.
Diluc: "So you're the two the Grandmaster sent. If I'm not mistaken, you're the new captain who has been put in the rank of the knights."
Aether: "Ah...well, somewhat. Name Aether, and this is Paimon."
Paimon: "Hello."
Aether: "I wouldn't say it not much, given I only gained this 'title' about two weeks ago. Still getting used to it, heck I still need to get members. I'm still working on it."
Diluc: "Hm, I see. Do you know who you want in your platoon, I guess?"
Aether: "I'm open to names. Since I already went over with Grandmaster Jean, given that I'm with the adventure guild, I can explore the other regions to find my missing friends."
Diluc: "I see. Does anyone in the knights catch your eye?"
Aether: "Yeah, in fact, three people, in fact."
Diluc: "Oh? If you don't mind asking, who are the three?'
Aether: "The outrider of the knights, Amber. She was the first person I came across when I came here. Amber is an amazing person and very friendly. She is also super skilled with the bow, and because she is used to the outdoors and doesn't have anyone besides herself in a spot as an outrider, I thought it would be right for her to join. And besides the fact, I want a waifu to join the squad, and she was my first choice, but I'm not going to say that aloud."
Diluc: "Hmmm, not a bad choice. I heard good things about her. With someone like her, who is used to Mondstadt and is on good terms with everyone, it's not a bad pick. Who are the other two?"
Aether: "The next person I plan to recruit is Noelle."
Diluc: "Noelle? Last time I heard, wasn't she a knight in training?"
Aether: "Yes, and I understand Jean doesn't think she is ready, but I plan to show just how skillful she is and add her to my platoon. Many people underestimate her; I see some potential in her."
Paimon: "She is also a better cook than Amber, to be fair." Aether cups his hand over Paimon's mouth.
Diluc: "Uh huh? And who is the last person?"
Aether: "Sucrose."
Diluc: "And that is?"
Aether: "A bio-alchemy in the knights."
Diluc: "Any reason why?"
Aether: "Reason...." Aether looks dead straight, not wanting to say his reason for having her join his Honorary Knight platoon.
Diluc: "Uh huh....? Well, it seems the knights have a person who has a good head on them. Today will tell me if all the rumors said about you are all there up to be."
Aether: "I really need to find out who is saying rumors about me?"
Diluc: "I'm sure you're wondering why you were called here and are joining me on today's mission."
Paimon: "Yeah, we were wondering. Paimon and Aether weren't really told anything besides that we will be working with someone Master Jean has a lot of respect for."
Diluc: "Hm. Today, we will investigate some actions of a group I have been keeping my eye on for quite some time now."
Paimon: "Is it a group of Hilichurls? Because Paimon feels like those guys aren't that bad. Truth be told, Paimon thinks many, if not all, of them are dumb as bricks."
Aether: "The pot calling the kettle black."
Paimon: "What's that supposed to mean!?!"
Aether: *smirk* "Oh, nothing."
Diluc: "No, I want to look into a group called the Abyss order."
Aether: 'Are we already looking into them? I thought I would deal with Dvalin a bit first.'
Paimon: "The abyss order? Who is that?"
Diluc: "Monsters in an organization are stronger and more dangerous than they let on. They hid in the shadows and planned things better than the basic enemies you have seen up to this point. The abyss clearly has something big planned for all Teyvat, and something tells me they are doing something major here in Mondstadt."
Aether: 'Well, they are the ones who made Dvalin lose it in the first place. It made sense that they started their movements much earlier than we have seen since we know they're doing their action in the background in the shadows.
Diluc: "I have located one of their hideouts and wanted to see what information we can get from them and maybe what their underlying goal is."
Aether: "I see, and to be fair, I have some questions to ask the abyss order myself."
Diluc: "You do?"
Aether: "Let's just say I feel they have something to do with my missing friends."
Diluc: "I guess both share a common goal."
Aether: "Do you know where this hideout is?"
Diluc: "Yes, the only reason I didn't storm in there myself was as much as I wanted to take them down. I have to do this sneakily. And taking so many alone might cause some issues. Originally, I would ask the adventure guild for a veteran adventurer who could hold them on. But, many of the names they sent me weren't up to scoff to what I believe they need to be, as much as I could be grudged. I was told to ask the knights for help. The only issue is..."
Paimon: "Do you and the knights not have a good relationship?"
Diluc: "No."
Aether: "At least you didn't beat around the bush. I guess Jean knew that, and since I'm technically a knight and an adventurer, and I don't have any real connection to the knights, she thought it would be a good idea to send me."
Diluc: "I guess so, I have no complaints." Diluc stood up. "We should get going."
Aether: "I guess you're right."
They left the bar, the three of them proceeded to leave Mondstadt. As the three get in the forest and begin to traverse the lands to get to the hideout the three begin to talk.
Paimon: "So um, mister Diluc what actually do you do? If you are not with the knights and not with the adventure guild? What do you do?"
Diluc: "I'm the owner of the Dawn Winery. I'm apart of the big part of the Mondstadt wine industry. Even though I don't like the taste."
Paimon: "Wait, huh!?! Let Paimon get this right?! You own one of the most well known wine places in Mondstadt but don't like alcohol?! How the heck does that work?!?"
Diluc: "Say what you want, it's how I am."
Aether: "I don't mind, I found it pretty interesting. It's also cool your doing own thing in the shadows to help Mondstadt. From the things I learn about your name thrown around in the knights they say your wine is very good. But, they also say your very skills are still respected by many of the knights."
Paimon: "He is?! Then why did you leave? If you were well respected by the knights, why leave them?"
Diluc: "I have my own reason for leaving the knights and not trusting them. I might not like a lot of the knights. But I do respect some of them. Such as Lisa and Jean. They are two I can respect and if need be would help."
Paimon: "What about Kaeya? He seems like a top skillful knight. Paimon hears a lot of good things about him."
Diluc: "*Groan* Keaya."
Paimon: "Oh...don't have a good relationship with him, I'm presuming."
Diluc: "Keaya and I relationship is...complicated. Let's just say that."
Aether: "I got you. If you don't want to talk about it, so be it. Let's change the topic."
Diluc: "Thank you. So tell me about yourself Aether. I'm sure gaining the title as honorary knight isn't no small title."
Aether: *rub the back of his head* "To be fair, I don't think I haven't done much to earn that title. All I really did was help around Mondstadt, train with the knights, and handle small tasks."
Diluc: "I heard your first mission outside the city went fairly well."
Aether: "It did go well to be fair. I mainly wanted the other knights to pick up the slack; I feel like too many of them are well...lazy and rely too much on the captains and the Jean. That can't happen, if something ever comes up and we want to have less risk and injuries. The other knights need to pick up the slack. That was my whole thought process."
Diluc: "I think the knights are going to be very happy to have you a part of them. Now, let's focus up. We're here."
Aether and Paimon turn to see a domain. They both took a gulp, before Diluc went up the stairs and pushed the doors open. They went inside.
Inside, it was clear that the abyss order was there because the first enemy the two saw was a Cyro abyss mage.
Cyro Abyss mage #50: "What humans?! How did they find this place so soon!?! Not good."
Diluc: "Looks like this place does have the abyss mage. Let's get this over quickly."
Aether: "Right."
Aether and Diluc pull out their respective weapons and begin to make their way through the dungeon, taking care of any abyss mages they could find, along with the dozen of hilichurls. They did come across samachruls and a few Sheildwall and Axe Mitachurls.
But with Aether beginning quick on his feet and providing support with his anemone powers to Diluc's pyro power/vision, they would make short work of anything they came across.
Diluc: "I'm slightly impressed. I didn't put you all that high at first, but it seems you are much better than I thought."
Paimon: "Heheh, you shouldn't underestimate. We make a pretty good team."
Aether: 'Yeah, if one person was doing 100% of the work. I really hope you do something useful in the future for me, you damn flying fish.'
Diluc: "We should be coming up on the end soon. Whatever abyss order we have here, we must keep at least one alive out of all of them."
Aether: "Got it."
After a bit, the three made it to the final room. Once there, they saw only one Hydro abyss mage. The two nodded before rushing the poor mage, who jumped slightly when they saw the two enemies approaching them.
Not wanting to die so soon, the mages would chant something before slamming their hand on the ground. The two would cover their face from the wave of dark energy. As the swirling energy calmed down, standing in front of them was something Aether wasn't expecting to see so SOON!?! An Abyss Herald!?!
Aether: 'What the hell!!? Why is that thing here? It shouldn't even be time to fight one of those things for A WHILE!!!'
Paimon: "What the heck is that thing!?!?"
Diluc: "It seems we're going to have to defeat that thing first before we can talk to our little abyss friend."
Aether: "Right, just be careful that thing isn't a pushover." Diluc raised an eyebrow at that but didn't give it too much thought.
Diluc: "Alright, I'll trust your judgment."
Aether and Diluc charge in to fight the Torrent Abyss Herald, who summons their blade and charges in as well. Aether makes the first weapon clash with the Herald before dodging an overhead swing from the thing. Aether follows up with a spin slash of his own, only for the Herald to block it before kicking Aether away.
Diluc would swing his claymore down, giving the Herald hope back. Diluc wasn't done, however, as he followed up with his signature Searing Onslaught elemental skill. Only the last swing would hit the Herald.
As Diluc's attack calmed down, the Herald rushed in, and the two began to clash blades. Because Diluc was using a claymore, his swings were a little slower than the Herald's, who began to try to overpower Diluc. He did get a cut on Diluc's cheek.
Stepping back, the Herald still tried to pressure him. Just as it looked like the Herald would have the upper hand, he was forced to block an anime wind ball from the side as Aether came rushing in. A windball was in his hand, and he tried to force it into the Herald's side. It did some damage as the Herald would get sent back some.
Aether: "You good?"
Diluc: *wipes his face with his arm* "Yeah. Are you still good?"
Aether: "I can do this all day." A smile appears on his face.
Diluc: "Hmph, good. Then let's go."
Both of them charge in again, with the Torrent Abyss Herald ready. This time around, Diluc would be the one to start by first doing his Searing onslaught, but this time, it was much faster than the Herald expected but what it expected. On top of that, Diluc combined his fist into the mix covered in pyro just as the Herald blocked an attack pushing forward. Where Diluc's face was far from the Herald's, he grabbed it and slammed the Herald's face into the ground and dragged him along it before spinning once and throwing the Herald.
As the Herald skidded to a stop, he didn't see Aether behind him with the wind ball in his hand again as he got ready to hit the Herald. Feeling someone behind him, he swung high. Still, he missed as Aether was below and had his sword ready. He went for a diagonal slash, dealing some good damage to the Herald, who made a grunt sound from the attack. And with his free hand, slamming his palm into the Herald, causing him to swirl up in an anemo windball and let go, sending the Herald flying back and slamming against the opposite wall.
The Herald got out from the wall a little shaken. Not wanting to give it a chance to fight or recover, Diluc rushed it. His sword was covered in pyro as he brought it down on the Herald's shoulder, who grunted from it. Diluc tried to force his claymore through the Herald's body.
Herald: "I WILL NOT BE BEATEN SO EASY!!!!"
The Herald would let out a massive roar as would be able to overpower Diluc's swing. Once he felt most of it was off, he would swing his arm wildly and make abyss hydro energy slashes, sending them outward.
The attack damaged Diluc even as he blocked, while Aether could dodge the way. The Herald would speed up as he rushed Diluc, spinning like a top diagonally this time. Clashing with Diluc Claymore a bit, he would try to overpower Diluc with his power and speed, getting a few minor hits here and there. But Diluc wasn't a pushover; he would get a few hard swings and a few pyros in case of punches.
Both seem to match evenly. But Aether would be seen in the air behind them; the Herald would sense him behind and swing his arm to knock Diluc away. As swings turn towards Aether, it goes for a swing and turns his stomach. Sending him flying, it swings; Aether coughs, and we see he goes, crash-crashing and coughing into the wall.
Herald: "You're a fool if you believe I would fall for the same trick three times! It seems you must be new to using the element. But, strangely, you don't seem to have a vision. You remind me of someone....hmmmm..."
Aether: *coughs blood a bit* "Heheh, well, you see, it wasn't meant to hit you."
Herald: "What?!?"
The Herald felt intense heat coming from behind. He looked behind him and saw Diluc having his claymore angle a bit above his head, ready to fire someone, but it had the name power swirling around the fire.
Diluc: "It was meant to boost my attack; take this! DAWN!"
Swinging his claymore, he unleashed an intense flame like a Phoenix with a bit of green mixed in. The Herald tries to block it, but the force is so strong it picks him up, and the attack explores as he reaches the ceiling.
As the dust settled, the Herald was no more; it had been beaten. Aether sighed in relief, happy they had defeated that thing so soon. Those things aren't that easy to beat.
Aether: 'Guess Diluc lives up to his title as an early game carry, heh.' Aether would soon have a hand before him; it was Diluc.
Diluc: "Here, let me lend you a hand."
Aether: *smile* "Heh, thanks." He slugs his arm around Diluc as they head over to the hydro abyss mage, who is shaking in his boots.
Hydro abyss mage: "H-How did you beat a herald!?! That shouldn't been impossible. What cheat did you use! This is unfair! I will hav-ugh!" The Mage got his face slammed to the ground by Diluc, who picked him up by his mask with one hand.
Diluc: "Now you are going to tell me what you plan to do here and what you are doing here?"
Hydro abyss mage: "I'll....I'll tell you anything! I'm loyal to the very end."
Diluc: "Hmph. So be it. Let's see how much pain you really take before you talk."
Hydro Abyss mage: "W-What-AHHHHH!" Diluc would start burning the abyss mage.
He would keep this going for a while as Aether and Paimon, who finally appeared again, winced from their sight.
Hydro Abyss Mage: "Ugh....ughhh...."
Diluc: "Still don't want to talk, huh? So be it."
Aether: "Hang on, Diluc, let me try something."
Diluc: "If you say so." He dropped the Mage like a sack of rocks, and Aether walked up.
Aether: "Alright, mage, I'll question you."
Hydro Abyss Mage: "I...I...never speak...I-"
Aether: "What does the name Lumine mean to you all."
Hydro Abyss Mage: "What, how do you know the princess's name?!?! That should be impossible; only a select few know her!!!"
Aether: 'Ah, so it seems in this timeline or verse or whatever Lumine is the abyss princess. But what does that entail for Aether? I'm technically not him; hell, I don't even look like the dude.'
Hydro Abyss Mage: "How do you know the princess!?! Tell me, you mortal!?!"
Aether: "Why do I feel like there's some racist slur that was meant to be? That's the answer to my first question." Aether summons his blade. Paimon, close your eyes.
Paimon: "Huh....oh, okay." Paimon covers her eyes.
Hydro Abyss Mage: "What are you-AHHHH!!!" Aether would stab his blade through the mage's shoulder right into the ground.
Aether: "I want you to tell me, does your reason for being here have something to do with the anemo archon?!"
Hydro abyss Mage: "I...I...won-" Aether twisted the blade. "AHHHHHH!"
Aether: "I ask you a question, worm. You're in the spot to deny things. I know you creatures of nothing can take quite the punishment before it is considered a literal blow. So answer our question if you want to return to your princess." Aether had a dark shadow cast over his eyes.
Hydro Abyss mage: "I...I..it..it..."
Aether: "Alright, let me ask you this, you water bug. Does your mission have something to do with the wind dragon Dvalin?" The Mage looks up in shock, and Diluc also looks at Aether's surprise.
Hydro Abyss Mage: "Y..You....!?!"
Aether: "So it does, I see. Do you have anything to tell us?"
Hydro Abyss Mage: "You... you think this is over! We of the abyss will make the truth of this world come out in the open! Your so-called land means nothing—" Aether stabs his blade through his face. Once Aether pulls it out, the mage's body slowly disappears.
Aether: "It seems we got our answer."
Diluc: "Yes, we did. Let's get out of here."
Aether: "Right, come on, Paimon."
Aether, they collect their reward from the dungeon and make their way out of it. On their way back to Mondstadt, it was pretty quiet. They soon came to a stop.
Diluc: "Hey, how are you holding up?"
Aether: "Hmm? I'm holding well; what about you?"
Diluc: "I'm fine. But you took a nasty hit. Are you sure you are okay?"
Aether: "I should be fine. Once I get some rest, I'll be back on my feet. But it seems the abyss order has something to do with the wind dragon of Mondstadt."
Diluc: "That's is true. But the question is, what? Dvalin has always protected the land as best he could. How do they plan to affect the dragon?"
Aether: "Who knows, but I'll make sure to give my report to Jean to let her know what's going on." Aether starts to walk away.
Diluc: 'I should bring up his question about the name? It seems the person he's looking for might be working on the abyss order. If that's true, he's probably trying to cope and figure out a plan to deal with them.' Diluc would start walking soon.
Aether: 'So Lumine is with the abyss order; I must cross blade with her soon. That only means she will probably soon get word that a traveler of different color eyes is going around helping the land. What's going to shock her is the name. Once she knows I have Aether's name, she will want to target me or come at me to have a talk. I need to be ready. I never did fight her in the game, but if the lore is anything to go off of, Lumine has been traveling across this land much longer than Aether. She would have more power than Aether, or I would have. The mere fact we took on the Herald so soon is a huge sign things aren't going to complete the same as the game went.'
The party would soon return to the City, and they were about to go their separate ways.
Diluc: "Hey, Aether and Paimon." Aether and Paimon came to a stop and turned around. "What you did today was impressive. If you two ever need anything or help. You know where to find me." Aether and Paimon smiled and nodded their heads. As Diluc watches them leave. 'I should have bandaged Aether up. Hopefully, no one gets too mad.'
A few days later...
Well, it's been a few days since my mission with Diluc. It went well and answered some of my questions. My one big one is who was leading the abyss order or at least helping with the twins. I dodged a bullet because it was Lumine. Because if it was Aether, I would have been in trouble.
When Paimon and I returned to Mondstadt, she worried for me. The hit I took was bad, but it wasn't that bad, I thought. Oh, how wrong I was.
Once I returned to the HQ, I went straight to Jean, who was in the room with Amber and Lisa. Amber's face got pale when she saw me, given that I still had dried-up blood on me. I should have showered before going there but wanted to give the report first.
Jean's reaction did not ease either, even with my smile as I tried to lighten the mood right as I walked in. But the semi-blood on me didn't help... at all!
I first gave her my report on what happened and everything we learned while keeping out the part of Lumine being the current leader I know of leading the Abyss order. It wouldn't do me any good if that's to find out. After I explained that the abyss order plan had something to do with the Wind dragon, Jean said she would get some knights on it immediately.
At the same time, Amber and she were super worried for me, while I insisted Iokayas okay. The hit I took wasn't that bad; it was a necessary hit to take for victory. I don't know if I had the feeling, but it was something I just had in my body. Take the hit, ensure the victory, nothing more.
But the report was good, everything was clear, and I was done. I was about to take my leave.
Jean: "Are you sure you're okay?"
Aether: "Jean really I am. I came back alive, didn't I?" Aether smiles. "Don't worry; all this reminds me I must get stronger and keep protecting every....one..." Aether ends up falling back unconscious.
Paimon told me they took me to the infirmary, where I came the next day. When I woke up, Paimon was sleeping right next to me. She cried in my chest, telling me I had scared her.
*sigh* I guess I did take a nasty hit worse than I thought. I told Paimon I was sorry and would try not to make this a trend...hopefully.
(A/N: I'm sure it won't be a trend. *sips tea*....)
What really put the fear of the goddess that sent me here was when Amber came in. The moment she came in, she rushed and hugged me. Telling me how scared and worried she was. I hate seeing her tears like this; I put on the softest smile I could and told her I'm sorry too and I'll be careful I will. I will get stronger for her and everyone. Amber smiled at me, and hopefully, I can keep that promise...and well...
See why I was happy Amber was worried about me and everything. It didn't help that when she tackled me, she was right on top of me!
After we both realized our position, she jumped me, our faces super red from the awkwardness that just happened. Thanks to the heaven above Paimon, who broke the silence.
Amber dismissed herself and said, " Hopefully, we can go out again and grab food together. I smiled and told her that would be nice.
After getting a check-up by Barbara herself to make sure I was good, I was good to go. I went to the little office Jean gave me after my 'promotion' or, I guess, title. I was looking at some paper. Why? I think it was time for certain people to join the Honorary Knight Platoon.
Amber and Noelle were currently Amber and Noelle were currentlySitting in two of the chairs across from Aether. Both ladies were confused.
Amber: "So, um... what's going on here?"
Noelle: "I would like to know as well. Why am I here of all knights?"
Aether: "Well, it's simple. As you both know, I'm the captain of my own platoon." The girls nodded their heads. "And I have needed people to join my platoon. But I get to choose who joins me and everything. And to make it short and sweet, I would like you both to join."
Paimon: "Suprise!"
Amber & Noelle: "What!?!?"
Aether: "Now, I know Amber, you currently hold the title outrider, and I don't plan to take that away from you. I would allow you to keep it. I feel like you are a special person to me, but I know you deserve more credit than what most give you. I would also like you to help me search for friends. You have been a considerable help to me, and I'm confident that you will not aim higher with someone like you by my side, but Teyvat will know the legend of Amber, the great outrider."
Amber: "Aether...."
Aether: "I know this is a lot to ask of you, but I feel no one is better suited than you. I would be delighted if you join." He gave her his signature smile, and she blushed in her seat.
Amber: "I... I accept." She looks up at him and smiles back with determination.
Aether: "I'm glad to hear that."
Aether: "Now Noelle..."
Noelle: "Why me?"
Aether: "Hmm?"
Noelle: "Why do you want someone like me to join your special platoon? I'm not even a full knight. I'm a knight in training still. I get Amber, but what do I have to offer here? There are many more qualified knights than me."
Aether: 'If only you knew how cap that truly is. Half the knights here SUCK! You're probably the third strongest knight here!' Aether coughs in his fist to recompose himself. "I should explain, Noelle, since I've been here, I've seen how hard you work. Your work ethic, not only your skill as a knight, far exceeds that of many of the regular knights. I value your diligence and your positive attitude, and I think, no, I know out of anyone who isn't a knight and even some of the knights, you deserve to be a knight!"
Noelle grasps as she claps her hands over her mouth.
Aether: "I already have talked with Jean about how I will help oversee your training, but I want you to be a knight and be in my platoon. I know it will be tough, and I'm going to have members here staying in Mondstadt and other regions I'll be going to. But that doesn't mean there won't be times I call upon you and others in the future. Once I get the means for it. Once I get the teapot, it will be much easier. I want knights who not only can stand on their own if I'm not around but who boost everyone else around. I want our platoon not to be just some special name platoon like every other company here. No, I want our company to exceed that! I want us to be a respected name throughout Teyvat!" He stood up proudly and then adopted a soft smile. "And I want you there with us..." He held out his hand that held the special emblem of the company/platoon. "Do you expect."
Noelle cried tears of joy as she stood up and bowed. She could finally accomplish her dreams and go even further than ever!
Noelle: "YES! Thank you, captain!" She took the emblem. Aether and Paimon smile.
Aether: "And to celebrate our two new members! Let's go out and celebrate!!!"
Paimon: "YAY!!!"
Aether and his party would find themselves at Good Hunter, eating until they couldn't eat anymore. They would laugh, tell stories, and be excited. Of course, with Paimon eating so much, Aether would chase the little fairy around the table when she ate some of his food. Amber and Noelle would, of course, laugh at the two banter.
Overall, everyone had a great time and a smile on their face. The start of the Honorary Knight Platoon looks to be on the horizon, and this will be one of its great moments to tell for the future.
End of Chapter.
Notes:
And that's the chapter!
As you all can tell things of course will go a bit different with how this 'Aether' does thing. Given not only did he get to team up with Diluc much earlier then plan. But as well fighting a powerful Abyss enemy you wouldn't meet until late into Liyue right before you go to Inazuma.
Man that butterfly effect is kicking in hard already! And of course adding both Amber and Noelle to the team.
I mean we all knew it was coming it only make sense they would come along. But who else will join? Only time will tell and I'm still all ear's on who you all believe should also join.

Chapter Text
Journal Entry - Month 2, Week 1
It's been a week since Amber and Noelle officially joined the Honorary Knight Platoon. I won't lie—I was initially worried about how things would go. After all, building a squad from scratch isn't easy, and these two aren't exactly what people might picture when they hear "elite team." One's a cheerful outrider with a questionable cooking reputation, and the other's technically still a knight-in-training. And then there's me—an isekai'd teen still figuring out what half of these Hilichurl grunts are yelling about.
But somehow... it's working.
Jean gave us clearance to begin operating as a small field unit, and we've spent the last few days doing commissions around Mondstadt. For now, basic things are patrols, Hilichurl camp cleanups, recovering lost goods, and monster suppression. But with each assignment, our teamwork improves. Everyone has a role, and the more we play to our strengths, the smoother things get.
"Camp should be just over that ridge," Amber said, pointing toward a smattering of tents near a broken ruin. She crouched low in the tall grass, her gloved hand brushing over it as she surveyed the area.
"Looks like two archers on the wooden platform," Aether replied, eyes narrowing. "Three grunts at ground level. And...one big guy with a shield. Great."
Noelle stepped up behind them, her claymore resting across her shoulder like it weighed nothing. "Mitachurl. Looks like he's carrying a flaming wooden club."
Aether gave a dry smile. "Shield-wielding bruiser and his band of grunts. Classic."
Amber grinned and knocked an arrow. "So, what's the plan, Captain?"
Aether looked over his team and nodded. "Alright. Amber, you open with a precision shot—target the archer on the left. Noelle, as soon as they scatter, you charge the Mitachurl. Keep him off me while I sweep the grunts. I'll disable the shield guy with a Gust Surge when the time's right."
Amber winked. "Roger that. Let's light it up."
Amber leaped to her feet with a practiced movement, drew her bow, and loosed an arrow. It hissed through the air and struck the archer dead in the chest, sending the masked creature toppling backward off the platform with a surprised grunt. The camp instantly erupted in chaos.
The Hilichurls roared, scrambling for weapons as Amber fired again, catching the second archer in the shoulder before ducking behind a stone pillar.
Noelle surged forward, her armor clanking slightly, but her movements were solid. The Mitachurl raised its flaming club, bellowing as it charged toward her—but Noelle braced and blocked the overhead strike with her massive claymore, sparks flying as fire met iron.
The impact was massive, but Noelle held firm. "I've got his attention!"
Aether dashed past her, twin blades of anemo energy swirling in his hands. He ducked beneath a Hilichurl spear, spun, and launched a Palm Vortex into the grunt's chest. The wind exploded outward, sending the smaller enemy flying into a tent.
Two more Hilichurls rushed in, but Aether was already moving. One caught a slash across the leg; the other was swept off its feet by a burst of wind at close range. The battlefield was his dance floor, and every step flowed with precision.
Noelle, meanwhile, had locked into a duel with the Mitachurl. The hulking creature couldn't push past her guard despite his size and brute strength. When it tried to flank, she spun with a defensive flourish and bashed it with the flat of her claymore, sending it stumbling.
Amber repositioned and fired a fiery arrow directly into a hay barrel near the edge of the camp, creating a burst of flames that cut off the last grunt's escape route. "Boom! That should corral 'em!"
"Thanks for the crowd control," Aether called out.
He sprinted through the flames, his body swirling with green wind as he launched upward. "Gust Surge!"
A massive tornado burst to life, sucking in debris, grass, and two of the smaller Hilichurls. They flailed helplessly inside as the spinning vortex chewed through their defenses.
The Mitachurl roared again, raising its club for another swing. With a grunt of effort, Noelle ducked under it and slammed her claymore directly into its knee. The brute staggered.
Aether dashed back in, leaped off a nearby rock, and landed a downward strike on the Mitachurl's exposed back. A pulse of anemo burst from the impact, throwing the beast forward—right into Noelle's uppercut.
BOOM!
The Mitachurl's mask cracked as it flew through the air, landing hard and not getting up.
"All enemies down," Aether said, breathing slightly harder now. "Camp secured."
Amber jogged over, lowering her bow. "Phew! That went smoother than last time."
Noelle adjusted her gauntlet and nodded. "I was able to hold his aggro better this time. Thank you for the follow-up, both of you."
Aether laughed softly. "We're getting the hang of this."
We're not perfect. Our timing is still off sometimes. I still rely on Gust Surge too much. And I swear Amber nearly set me on fire twice now. But... it's progress. I'm proud of them—of us. Noelle's a wall. Amber's deadly at range. And me? I guess I'm the glue that holds it together. It's ironic—we're three of the most underused characters in-game, yet out here in the real world of Teyvat, we're starting to feel like a real unit.
One day, people will talk about the Honorary Knight Platoon like they talk about the captains and their squads.
One day—but we've got more work to do now.
It's been about a week since the formation of the Honorary Knight Platoon, and I'm honestly still adjusting to being called "Captain." It feels surreal. Amber and Noelle officially joined the squad, and Jean helped clear the paperwork faster than I thought possible. We've been using this week to get our footing—routine commissions, scouting runs, minor training drills, and getting to know each other's strengths and quirks.
Today marked our first real field operation together. It was nothing overly dramatic—just a local commission to clear out a Hilichurl camp not too far from Windrise. But still, it felt like a milestone.
The sound of leaves brushing against boots echoed through the forest as Aether sprinted ahead, sword drawn and swirling with Anemo energy. Amber trailed behind, her bow already knocked and eyes sharp with focus. Noelle brought up the rear—not because she was slower, but because she insisted on guarding their backs with her massive claymore.
Aether skidded to a stop near a clearing. Just beyond the treeline sat a rough Hilichurl camp—three wooden huts, a totem pole with a swirling Pyro rune carved into its side, and a handful of masked creatures loitering around a bonfire. An Axe Mitachurl lumbered near the back, its heavy footsteps shaking the ground.
"Alright," Aether whispered, crouching behind a boulder. "Standard flank. Amber, high ground. Noelle, with me up the middle."
Amber gave a playful salute, already making her way up a ledge for a clear vantage point. Noelle nodded firmly, tightening the grip on her weapon.
"Remember," Aether added, a smirk tugging at his lips. "We do this clean. Minimal damage, full style. Let's show Mondstadt why we're not just another pretty squad."
Amber's first arrow lit the sky, raining down in a cascade of Pyro energy. Two Hilichurls burst into chaotic screeches as the arrow ignited their campfire into a blaze. As they scrambled, Aether surged forward, riding a swirling wind that launched him over their heads before he struck the ground with a Palm Vortex.
The Anemo burst flung several of the Hilichurls backward, breaking their ranks. He followed up with a quick burst of sword strikes—light, agile, and fast. These are the kind of moves no one expects from a character. Most players use them to activate statues.
Noelle barreled into the fray next, her claymore slamming down to guard Aether's side. She absorbed the brunt of a spear swing aimed at his back, the blow bouncing harmlessly off her Geo-infused breastplate.
"No sneaky attacks on our captain!" she shouted.
With one swing, she sent a smaller Hilichurl flying into a stack of barrels.
The Axe Mitachurl roared, stomping forward. Before it could reach them, three arrows struck it in the chest—each laced with Pyro.
"Heads up, big guy incoming!" Amber yelled from her perch.
Aether grinned. "Time to go flashy. Noelle, shield bash on my mark!"
The claymore-wielding knight raised her shield, letting the Mitachurl slam directly into it. Using the rebound, she forced it upward, briefly exposing its core.
Aether launched into a Gust Surge, the green tornado sucking in leaves, fire, and Hilichurls alike. The Mitachurl stumbled as the swirl of elements spun wildly around it.
Never missing a beat, Amber rained down a final explosive arrow—right into the storm's center.
BOOM.
When the dust settled, the camp was flattened, the totem destroyed, and the ground littered with stunned and unconscious monsters.
Post-Battle...
The trio gathered outside the camp perimeter, breathing lightly but mostly smiling.
Journal Entry – Aether
Noelle is... incredible. She plays the role of a tank so naturally. It's not just her strength—though seriously, seeing her cleave through a shield-wielding Hilichurl like a loaf of bread was terrifying and impressive—but her unshakable spirit. She doesn't just protect us; she inspires confidence with every swing. If I had to build a wall around me, I'd want her holding it up.
Amber continues to be our heart and soul. She may joke around, but she is tactically sharp. Her arrows are never wasted, and her ability to scout, harass enemies from range, and keep morale up is priceless. Honestly, I don't get how people always sleep on her in-game. She's much more than an early Pyro unit—she's the glue of our team.
Paimon...well, Paimon still isn't a fighter, but hey, someone's got to scream at danger and eat half our rations when we're not looking. She has a sixth sense of finding the last cookie in any pack. But I won't lie—having her floating nearby is comforting. The sass and spirit she brings reminds me not to take everything too seriously.
Amber stretched with a groan, slinging her bow back onto her back. "Not bad for our first run, huh?"
Noelle nodded, carefully cleaning the edge of her claymore. "Everyone held their ground well. Captain, your windwork was exceptional."
"Thanks," Aether said, rubbing his shoulder. "Your shield saved me more than once. I'd say we made a solid team out there."
Paimon floated down, holding a chunk of roasted mushroom skewer. "Paimon thinks it went great—except for when one of those guys tried to make a Paimon kabob!"
"I told you to stay behind the tree," Aether muttered.
"Hey! Paimon was trying to offer emotional support! From above! Very tactical!"
Amber laughed. "Let's grab lunch. We earned it—and before Paimon devours all the rations again."
"Too late!" she chirped through a mouthful of mushrooms.
Aether rolled his eyes, smiling as he led the team back toward Mondstadt.
The Honorary Knight Platoon had officially completed its first mission—and they were just getting started.
Journal Entry – Day 40 in Teyvat
It's been about a week or so since the official formation of the Honorary Knight Platoon.
Amber, Noelle, and I have started taking field commissions together, and for our first squad formation, things are going smoother than expected. Today, we were assigned to deal with a reasonably large Hilichurl camp spotted just off the Stormbearer Mountains. While nothing too insane, it was big enough to be labeled as a minor threat to nearby traders and farmers, so we took it seriously. We wanted to treat it as our first true ops together as a unit—and we handled it beautifully.
Initially, it might be awkward leading two people who technically have more experience living in Teyvat than me. But the way the three of us clicked in battle? It seemed like we'd been fighting together for much longer.
Amber kept our ranged suppression tight. Her arrows were pinpoint, forcing the Hilichurls to break formation constantly. Whether igniting barrels or sniping shield users with precise shots to the feet or hands, she brought the kind of support only a good bow user could bring. I joked internally that Amber's "starter pack" status got her benched fast in most teams, but here? She proved MVP when given the correct setup and proper field space.
Noelle—gods above—Noelle is a monster in the best way possible. While she may lack formal knight status, she's what you'd call the wall of Mondstadt in combat. She doesn't use a shield physically, but her geo constructs and claymore swings might as well be one. That girl tanked through a Hilichurl berserker's charge without flinching. Her elemental burst—Sweeping Time—turned her into a one-girl wrecking crew, slamming through waves of enemies while glowing with radiant geo-energy.
Even though she still has that humble and modest demeanor, Noelle is finally starting to see how much she contributes to this squad. I plan to keep encouraging her until she starts believing in her strength as much as we do.
As for myself? I've gotten comfortable acting as the squad's frontline initiator. It's a role I like. My sword work's been improving, and while Anemo may not hit as hard as Pyro or Electro, its versatility in crowd control is unmatched. Between launching enemies into the air or pulling grouped mobs together with Palm Vortex, I can steer the battlefield the way I want. I joked with the others that the Traveler gets benched hard in late-game metas, but I'm here to rewrite that narrative.
Even Paimon played her role today—kind of. She didn't fight, obviously. She never does. But she did spot a couple Hilichurls trying to flank us on the west ridge and called it out in time. It's not bad for a floating emergency ration.
The geo explosion from Noelle's final claymore slam faded, scattering shattered earth and stunned Hilichurls across the grass. Aether exhaled and lowered his sword, the last enemy groaning and slumping unconscious against a splintered wooden barricade.
Amber blew on the tip of her arrow playfully before sliding it back into her quiver. "That's the last of them! Squad Honorary Knight, fourth field commission: total success!"
"I'll say," Aether said with a grin. "Not a single one of us even got scratched."
"Well... mostly," Noelle said, brushing dust off her armor. "That one Mitachurl almost landed a direct hit, but I blocked it with my claymore."
"You cratered it with your claymore," Amber added with a laugh. "I think it's still twitching."
Aether chuckled. "Noelle, I knew you were strong, but today? That was something else."
Noelle blushed slightly, looking down. "I just... did what I could to support the team."
"You did more than that," Amber said, patting her shoulder. "You were like the rock of the squad! Geo pun totally intended."
Paimon floated in with a big grin. "And don't forget Paimon's amazing lookout skills! If it weren't for me, that one group would've surprised you!"
"Oh yes," Aether said, smirking. "Our emergency ration proved quite useful today."
"Paimon is NOT emergency rations!!"
Everyone laughed, the battle tension melting into the warm camaraderie of a well-fought mission. The sun peeked through the clouds above Stormbearer, casting a soft light across the battlefield now littered with abandoned masks and dented helms.
Aether looked at his team—Amber cleaning her bow, Noelle gently helping a wounded hilichurl to the side so the Commission could investigate it later, and Paimon floating smugly near a bush of berries she claimed as spoils.
This was their first outing as a unit, but it wouldn't be the last. They still had much to learn and many fights ahead.
But for now? They had won.
Honorably.
(Journal Entry: A few weeks after the official formation of the Honorary Knight Platoon)
It's been a few weeks since I officially founded the Honorary Knight Platoon. Time does fly when you're not dying in the wilderness or being pelted with Hilichurl rocks. Jean gave me clearance to begin light field operations around Mondstadt. Honestly, it's going better than I expected. Amber, Noelle, and I have been running a consistent rhythm—handling commissions, patrolling roads, and helping the townsfolk with their problems.
As part of our first few joint ops, we were tasked with clearing out a small but annoying Hilichurl camp that had popped up on the edge of Wolvendom. You'd think it'd be a simple mop-up, but how we moved as a team...
Yeah, the synergy made you believe this whole "Captain of a personal squad" thing might actually work out.
Amber is a long-range artillery unit disguised as a bunny-loving cheerleader. Her ability to bait enemies with Baron Bunny and then rain down precise flaming arrows is borderline disrespectful to the Hilichurls. Seriously, one poor guy followed the doll, got blasted mid-air, and somersaulted right into Noelle's claymore. Speaking of Noelle, she's an absolute unit. If Geo were a person, it would be her. She may not use a shield, but with that two-handed claymore and the way she channels her Geo Vision, she is the shield. When does she activate Breastplate or unleash Sweeping Time? The battlefield becomes her ballroom, and Hilichurls are the unwilling dance partners.
And me? Well... I'm the glue. I'm not just calling plays and directing the fight; I'm the main driver in close quarters. Using my Anemo Palm Vortex to group enemies up for Amber's AoEs or toss them upward so Noelle can juggle them like meat piñatas. In the game, people treat Aether like a jack-of-all-trades and master of none. I'm trying to fix that image—bit by bit. Call it my petty revenge for how Hoyoverse did him dirty.
After one exceptionally smooth sweep of a Hilichurl camp, I found a moment to write in the journal before returning to the city. It made me think more deeply about my powers and the path I want to walk.
I've made up my mind about something important. I'm not going to be like the 'canon' Aether. Sure, I'll gain access to different elements as I travel—Anemo, Geo, Electro, Hydro, and more—but I want to go further than unlocking them. I want to learn how each element is used in Teyvat by the people who've mastered it. Their skills. Their bursts. Their combat philosophies. If I gain Geo one day, I want to learn from Noelle or Ningguang. Electro? Lisa and Beidou. Hydro? Barbara, maybe even Mona. If I ever get to Liyue and meet someone like Kazuha or Xiao... I want to mimic their styles.
But I need to start somewhere. And right now, the only element I have is Anemo. This means the only true Anemo combat experts in Mondstadt are... very limited. Venti? Haven't met him yet. Sucrose? She's excellent but more focused on alchemy than combat.
That leaves only one real option.
Mondstadt, Knights of Favonius Court Yard
The bright sun hung high over the courtyard. I was standing across from Acting Grand Master Jean herself. She blinked twice, clearly surprised by my request.
Jean: "You... want me to train you?"
I nodded, gripping the hilt of my sword resting against my hip. "Yes. I want to learn how you fight. Specifically, your Anemo skills."
Jean tilted her head slightly. "Why me? You've been doing well on your own. Is this just sparring for experience?"
"Not exactly." I glanced around the court, ensured no eavesdropping Kaeyas or giggling Ambers were nearby, and stepped closer. "I wasn't just given an Anemo Vision. I can become part of the element. I can use all the elements—eventually. But just gaining the element isn't enough. It's like... unlocking a sword but never learning how to swing it."
Jean folded her arms, still listening.
I continued. "So I want to learn. From you. The Dandelion Knight. Your Gale Blade, your Dandelion Breeze... everything. I want to train until I can replicate, maybe even evolve your style. Because if I ever want to truly master the power I've been given, I can't just wing it. I need proper reference. I need to know how the best do it."
There was a beat of silence.
Jean: "That's... a very unique perspective."
Internally: 'Unique' is probably the nicest way to call someone crazy. Still, she didn't say no. Which means I had a chance.
She gave a faint, amused smile. "Alright then. I'll teach you what I can."
(Journal Entry: That night)
Jean agreed. And now it's official—my first elemental-style replication training begins.
This might sound insane, but imagine how powerful I could become if I learned the styles and techniques of the people who embody each element. Not just having Anemo... but using it with Jean's grace, Kazuha's fluidity, and Xiao's ferocity. If I get Geo, I'll train with Noelle and, later, maybe Itto or Zhongli himself. Hydro? Let Barbara teach me healing efficiency, Mona for deception, and trapwork. Electro with Lisa's wide-range sweep or Raiden's concentrated strikes. Pyro? Amber's sharp utility or Diluc's raw power. Imagine that combined with one person.
Yes, it's a long-term goal. Yes, I'll have to start small. But today, I trained with Jean.
Training Ground, Knights of Favonius
The training yard was cleared out, and Jean stood to the side, arms folded as I exhaled sharply, hand extended. My palm trembled slightly with building energy. I was trying to focus—not just to call forth the raw wind but to form it deliberately.
Jean: "Remember the blade is an extension of your will. The wind obeys your direction. You don't ask—it listens."
I nodded, closing my eyes. I imagined the blade—not the metal in my hand, but the wind shaped like one. I focused on the image Jean had shown me earlier, her Gale Blade spinning up enemies like leaves in a cyclone. I took a deep breath. Then another. Then finally—
Whoosh! A burst of Anemo surged from my palm. It fizzled midway into a half-formed pressure blade before dispersing with a soft crackle.
I sighed and fell to a knee.
Jean: smiling gently as she walked up beside me "You're improving. Your form is better than before."
I chuckled. "Not exactly dandelion breeze material yet, huh?"
Jean gave a small laugh. "That technique took me years. And you've managed this much in weeks. I think the wind has already started to recognize you."
I stood back up, a grin forming. "Well, it better. I plan to become its favorite student."
(Journal Entry)
I'll take what I can get.
For now, my element is Anemo, and my teachers are limited. But I'll squeeze every drop of potential from what I've got. I'm going to reshape how the world sees the Traveler. Not a backup character. Not a jack-of-all-trades. But a force that represents every element, every lesson, and every journey.
The wind may be invisible... but soon, they'll feel it coming.
Journal Entry – Mondstadt
Things are beginning to settle into a rhythm, and I think that's a good thing. The Honorary Knight Platoon is starting to take shape – with Amber and Noelle officially by my side, we've been running regular field operations all across Mondstadt. Commissions, patrols, scouting ruins – you name it, we've done it. And while we're still finding our synergy, one thing's clear: this team works.
Combat-wise, we've found a solid groove. Amber hangs back, raining fiery precision from a distance – she's our eyes, our reach, and a surprise burst of flame when things get hairy. Noelle, meanwhile, is pure force. That girl may not carry a shield, but she is a shield. Her claymore hits like a meteor, and she can create enough defense to hold entire lines independently with her Geo Vision. It's wild seeing someone so sweet unleash devastation like that.
Then there's me. I'm the driver, I guess – the forward vanguard, dancing through the chaos, applying Anemo crowd control, and staying mobile. The irony isn't lost on me. People always sleep on Anemo Aether – he's "utility," they say. "Swirl-bot." But I'm gonna prove he's way more than that. Or better yet... I will prove I'm more.
Afternoon, outskirts of Springvale
The sky was clear, and the sun shone on the Mondstadt countryside. Hilichurl camps had been springing up near the trade roads, and today's commission was to root one out before it got too established.
"Alright," Aether said, crouching low behind the crest of a hill with Amber and Noelle flanking him. "One large tent, two watch towers, and at least a dozen Hilichurls, maybe a Mitachurl in the back."
Amber nodded, drawing an arrow and licking her thumb before setting her sights. "I can start the party with a shot to the watch tower. Set the haystack ablaze – draw them out."
"Excellent idea," Noelle whispered, resting her massive claymore against her shoulder with calm, collected poise. "Once they rush out, I'll intercept the vanguard."
"And I'll control the center," Aether grinned, fingers pulsing with green wind energy.
Amber let her arrow fly.
The explosion of flame engulfed the watch tower instantly, Hilichurls screaming and scattering in panic. Noelle charged in like a knight from a legend, cleaving through shields and cracking bones with every swing. Aether followed close behind, summoning a vortex that pulled the fleeing Hilichurls into a tight cluster before launching them with a swirling gust.
"Hey! Eyes off my boots, wind boy!" Amber shouted with a laugh as she leaped over the chaos and fired a rain of arrows midair.
"Not my fault you keep jumping right in front of me!" Aether called back, spinning into another Gust Surge.
By the time the last Hilichurl fell, the area was scorched, cratered, and eerily quiet.
Amber landed beside Aether, panting and laughing. "Alright, Captain. That one was fun."
"You say that every time," Aether smirked.
Noelle arrived seconds later, still composed despite the weight of her weapon. "We made excellent time. And no injuries."
"Speak for yourself," Aether said, rubbing his shoulder. "One of them got me with a lucky spear jab."
"Here, allow me." Noelle gently placed a glowing Geo-infused hand on his arm. "Let me patch you up."
Aether blinked as her Vision shimmered against his skin. "Huh... Geo healing. Neat trick."
"Not a trick," she said shyly. "Just training."
Paimon, who had been munching apples on a rock nearby, floated over and smirked. "Sooo... when are we adding 'Honorary Husband' to your title, hmm?"
"PAIMON!?" Amber and Noelle shouted in unison.
Aether groaned, burying his face in his hands.
Journal Entry – Amber
There's something about Amber that's... radiant. Not just her Pyro skills or her cheery energy – it's how much she believes in people. She was the first person I met in Teyvat, and honestly, if she hadn't shown up when she did, I might've died before even figuring out where I was.
I've spent more time with her than anyone else. Morning runs, nightly patrols, eating meals together at Good Hunter... Sometimes, she talks about her grandfather, and I can tell how much of him lives in her. Amber is goofy, loud, competitive, and unrelenting in her optimism.
But when she thinks I'm not looking... she stares.
Not with suspicion. With curiosity. With something else.
I think I'm staring back.
Evening, Windrise
They sat under the massive tree, a quiet breeze passing through the grass as stars began to peek through the sky.
Amber laid back with her hands behind her head. "You know, when I first found you, I thought you were another lost adventurer."
Aether sat beside her, cross-legged. "Technically, you weren't wrong."
She turned to him, eyes gleaming gold in the moonlight. "But you're different. You're not just in Teyvat. You're changing it. I've never seen someone catch on so fast."
He smiled. "Or maybe I just had a great teacher."
Amber flushed slightly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "D-Don't say stuff like that so casually."
Aether blinked. "Why not?"
"Because...!" She paused. "Because it'll make a girl think things!"
"Think what?"
She narrowed her eyes, then giggled. "You're teasing me, aren't you?"
He leaned back, grinning. "Maybe."
"Ugh, I hate how smooth you're getting."
From above, Paimon floated by slowly, upside-down. "Should I give you two privacy or...?"
"PAIMON!" they both shouted.
Journal Entry – Noelle
Noelle is... incredible.
She doesn't even realize how strong she is. She still thinks of herself as "just a maid," but I've seen her cleave through three Hilichurls in one swing without breaking a sweat. She's so humble. Always clean up after us, organize supplies, cook meals, and bandage wounds. I told her she could stop doing so much, but she said, "It's what a knight should do."
And I believe her. She embodies everything the Knights of Favonius should be.
I've caught her watching me train more than once. I think she admires me... but honestly? I admire her.
Morning, Training Yard
Noelle was sparring against two knights in the courtyard, her claymore moving with grace and power. Aether watched nearby, leaning on the fence.
When she finished, she turned and spotted him. Her cheeks flushed instantly. "C-Captain! I didn't know you were watching!"
"I always watch your form," he said, immediately realizing how that sounded.
Noelle's face turned redder than a flaming slime.
"I-I mean, your combat form! Your swordwork! Not—"
"No, no! I understand!" she squeaked, bowing deeply. "Th-thank you for the compliment!"
Paimon floated by, deadpanning. "Smooth. Real smooth."
"I wasn't trying to—ugh."
He smiled anyway.
Journal Entry
It's been nearly a month since the Honorary Knight Platoon was officially formed, and things are starting to come together. Amber, Noelle, and I have gotten comfortable working as a unit. We've been crushing commissions across Mondstadt like a well-oiled machine. I act as the flexible striker, darting in and out with Anemo strikes; Amber provides long-range precision and utility; and Noelle, sweet Noelle, is our unstoppable juggernaut—carving through crowds with that oversized claymore like it's made of feathers.
There's something oddly satisfying about seeing us grow together like this, and it got me thinking... I need to keep evolving, too.
Unlike the Aether from the game, I don't want to switch elements like changing jackets. I want to master them, understand their personalities, feelings, and styles.
This brings me to someone I've had my eye on for a while now. Not in a creepy way.
Sucrose.
Let's be honest—she's clutch. A character so underrated it hurts my soul. What can she pull off in a team comp, especially with reactions and grouping? Criminally overlooked. And on top of that? She's cute as hell. That nervous energy, the glasses, the green highlights, the way she talks in that soft but earnest voice... Yeah. I'm simping hard. But I'm also genuinely intrigued by what she could teach me about Anemo.
Today's the day I finally try to talk to her.
Knights of Favonius Research Wing, Early Afternoon
The scent of alchemical reagents tickled Aether's nose the moment he stepped into the airy, book-cluttered wing of the Knights' HQ. Shelves of ancient tomes and jars lined the walls while metallic instruments clicked and bubbled in the background.
Aether spotted her almost immediately. Tucked in the corner, sleeves slightly rolled up, was Sucrose—head buried in some complex-looking notes, a swirling green crystal softly glowing on her workbench.
He walked up quietly, resisting the urge to adjust his coat or clear his throat like a dork. This was the moment.
Aether: "Excuse me... Miss Sucrose?"
Sucrose jolted, nearly sending a glass beaker flying. She caught it just in time, cheeks tinting red beneath her goggles. She looked up, wide-eyed.
Sucrose: "O-oh! Captain Aether! I... um... I wasn't expecting... hi!"
Aether: Smiling softly, "You know my name?"
Sucrose: Looking away, fidgeting with a pen, "W-Well... yes. Most of Mondstadt does at this point. The Knights talk about you. A lot. The missions, the training, the... title. Honorary Knight Captain. I... um, I've been following your work. I-it's hard not to."
Aether chuckled, leaning casually against the edge of her table.
Aether: "You're making me sound more impressive than I actually am. I just swing a sword around and try not to get clobbered."
Sucrose: Shaking her head, "N-no, you're... You've done amazing things. And I've seen the data. Your elemental resonance is—fascinating. Especially your... um, spontaneous Anemo adaptation. That shouldn't be possible without a Vision."
Aether: smirking "What can I say? I like to break the rules."
He winked. She nearly dropped her pen.
Sucrose: mumbling rapidly, "B-breaking laws of alchemy and physics and social decency a-and... oh, oh no, why did I say that aloud—"
Aether laughed, hands raised.
Aether: "Hey, hey, relax. I came to talk, not explode any experiments. I just... well, I was hoping to learn from you."
Sucrose: blinking "M-me?"
Aether: "Yeah. You're an Anemo user, and a brilliant one at that. I want to master this element, really understand it. Not just use it. I'm hoping to eventually learn from others in the future—Kazuha, Jean, Sayu, Heizou maybe. But for now? You're one of the only ones in Mondstadt who really gets it."
Sucrose blushes furiously. "I... I don't know what to say. I mean... I'd be honored to help. But I'm not good with people or training directly. It's easier when it's data and notes. I'm not like Miss Jean."
Aether: Grinning, "Don't worry. You being you is already helping. Just talking to you like this? It's worth more than a dozen training manuals."
Sucrose: quietly. "You're really strange, Captain Aether. But... thank you. I'll consider it."
He bowed slightly and turned to leave. Just before he did—
Sucrose: "W-Wait... you think I'm cute, right?"
Aether froze mid-step.
Aether: deadpan, internally '...PAIMON, HOW DO I RESPOND TO THAT?!'
He turned back with a sheepish grin.
Aether: "Did I say that out loud...?"
Sucrose buried her face in her notes, smoke practically rising from her ears.
Journal Entry – Later That Night
I didn't walk out of there with a firm, but I think I planted the seed. She's thinking about it. That's enough.
If I want to master Anemo—or any element—I need to go beyond what the game showed us. Aether had the tools, but he never showed his full potential in-game. Burst here, skill there... but no real personalization. No "style."
Me? I want to make each element mine. That means learning from the ones who embody those elements. Jean's Gale Blade and Dandelion Breeze. Sucrose's swirling manipulation and grouping mastery. Even Venti's absurd crowd control. If I get their help, I can create my own Anemo fighting style.
Same with the others, once I get those elements. Imagine a world where I can throw a flaming spear like Xiangling, parry like Beidou, or heal with Grace like Barbara. Or hell—freeze the battlefield like Ganyu. Each element should come with its own flavor. Own soul.
Of course, for now, I'm stuck with Anemo. And Mondstadt's not exactly overflowing with Anemo options. But it's a start.
Jean helped me. Now, maybe... Sucrose will too.
I need to keep being patient. And flirt a little less.
...Nah.
Real-Time – Aether's Room, Late Evening
Aether leaned back in his chair, journal resting on his knee as he tapped his pen against his lip. He glanced toward the small wind crystal he'd propped on his shelf—a gift from Jean after one of their recent sparring sessions. The room smelled faintly of alchemical reagents.
Outside his window, the wind stirred.
Aether smiled.
"Soon."
End of chapter.
Notes:
And that's the chapter! Try something different with writing style let me how you all feel about it.
As you all can tell things when I said I was going make this Aether or I guess my character different I really meant it. The whole idea of this came about because I always found it strange Aether can use these elements but can't you know do some crazy things...damn it Mihoyo....
And it's seem things are brewing more with Amber and Noelle now official apart of the team. Oh what fun, heheh.
And I mean we all knew it was only a matter time before I go after my best waifu Sucrose! It only a matter time I have best waifu join the team HEH! But who else will join? Only time will tell and I'm still all ear's on who you all believe should also join.
