minutes after Xavier escaped from the therapy session
xavier walking in the coffee shop that principal weems mentioned before he entered the therapy session.
when he first walked in Xaviers first sight was a boy with a red apron grey shirt behind the counter that was far from him Xavier quickly but slowly walked towards the boy as he saw him struggling to fix the coffee machine And as soon as the machines smoke blew again Xavier appeared behind the counter.
“Holy crap” the boy said as he flinched
A little moment of silence
“do you make a habit out of scaring the hell out of people” he talked again Staring directly at Xavier
“it’s more of a hobby” Xavier said as he
continued staring at the boy
“You go to nevermore” the boy said shaking His head lightly in a rhythm
“didn’t realize they change the uniform” he said dragging out the ‘m’ a little
“I need a quad of ice” Xavier said with blankness in his voice
”it’s an emergency” Xavier talked again
“I-“ the boy says only to be cut off by Xavier
“It’s four shots of espresso” Xavier said
“yeah, I…I know what a quad is,” he says said
“but, spoiler alert the espresso machine’s having a seizure” he said a litte jokingly
“So all we have is drip” the boy explained
“but drip is for people who hate themselves and know their lives have no purpose or meaning”
Xavier said targeting the man pouring drip in his cup
The boy slowly turning his head towards the man as the man puts the drip down and cup and walks away
“what’s wrong with your machine” Xavier says looking down at the broken espresso machine
“it’s a temperamental beast with a mind of its own and it doesn’t help that the instructions are in Italian” he says says as Xavier walks over to the other side of the counter were the boy was and grabs the instructions book and reads it.
”I need a tri-wing screwdriver Band a four millimeter Allen wrench”Xavier says as he reads the Italian
“wait you read Italian?” He says confused
“of course. It’s the native tongue of Machiavelli” xavier says smartly
”here’s the deal. I’m going to fix your coffee machine, then you are going to make my coffee and then call a taxi.” Xavier says trying to make a deal with the boy
” uh no taxis in Jericho try Uber”
The boy says looking at the counter
“I don’t have a phone. I refuse to be a slave to technology” Xavier says fixing the coffee machine
“then your out of luck, we’re are you going anyway”he says looking at Xavier fix the machine
“that’s on a need-to-know basis. What about trains” xav says looking at him
xavier soon fixes up the coffee machine
“Never met a nevermore kid who got there hands dirty” the boy said
“I’m Tyler by the way” he said
“ I didn’t catch your name, or is that on a need-to-know basis too?” Tyler said
”Xavier”
“I’ll tell you what Xavier to show my appreciation how about I drive you to Burlington” he said
” perfect put that quad in a to-go cup”Xavier said
“uh but I don’t get off until another hour” Tyler said
”I’ll sweeten the pot” Xavier says pulling out money from his pocket
“twenty whole dollars…tempting but no” Tyler says moving back to the country slowly
Xavier pulls out another 20
“I’ll make it 40” Xavier says
“uh listen Xavier one fun fact about me I can’t be bought, so either wait or go find someone else to drive you” Tyler says as Xavier starts walking off
