Work Text:
The shuffle of paper, turns of pages, and soft breathing were the only sounds occupying the quiet building. It was late at night and the library was scarce. The only people there were a single wrinkled librarian lady -well past 60 years of age and probably hard of hearing- and two college girls. The girls were sitting back to back on the floor, one had her head stuffed into a book and the other working through pages of what seemed like homework. The bookworm girl had long blonde hair that had a windblown look to it, neat but slightly messy. A pair of golden, thin rimmed glasses sat low on her nose, and a pair of big, pale blue eyes peering through the lenses. She wore a checkered sweater of blue and white, with a gray pleated skirt that reached towards knees but didn’t quite make it. The sweater’s back pressed against a leather back. The working girl wore a comfortable outfit made up of a black leather jacket, an off-white turtleneck, and a pair of dark blue jeans that almost seemed black in the dim light. Instead of hair that was long and blonde like the bookworm’s, this girl's hair was short and brown. The ends of it lightly kissing her jaw and framing her moss green eyes, helping them to stand out a bit.
“How’s the book?” questioned the brunette.
“It’s good..The main character is decently likable right now, so that’s a plus,”the blonde responds, letting a tired sigh escape her lips, followed quickly by a small yawn covered by her thin hand that had neatly manicured nails.
“Sorry to keep you out so late but, you don’t have to stay, y'know. It is like..what,” the brunette checks her watch, “Iike 11:47 pm right now, it’s almost midnight.”
“I’m fine, this is a mystery story so it's not like i'll be bored enough to sleep while reading it,” the bookworm responds with a roll of her eyes before muttering lightly, “And, anyways, I wanna stay with you a bit longer.” A small smile quirked at the brunette’s lips, “What was that? I don’t think I quite heard you,” she says with a lift of her brow. A light pink lightly dusts the other girl's cheeks as she was quickly dunked in a wave of embarrassment.
“You,” the blonde says while turning around to face the brunette which she points a finger at before continuing, “should try shutting up for once. Don’t be an asshole, asshole.”
This only makes the brunettes smile into an entire grin. She reaches for the pointed finger, holding the blonde’s hand in her own. She turned the bookworm’s hand over so that her palm faced up and then the brunette lowered her head right over the hand.
The blonde's lightly dusted face turned completely beet red as the brunette planted a delicate kiss on the blonde’s palm. Moving up to place another kiss right at her wrist, directly on the pulse point. Lips lingering a moment longer before the brunette raises her head to look at the blonde, who’s book page was now long forgotten.
“I’m sure I could keep you awake better than some book,” the brunette says with a small tilt of her head as her voice lowered. The flirtatious brunette looked at the blonde with half-lidded eyes, her grin replaced with a softer, more inviting smile.
“You’re really pretty when you look like this, y’know? All shy and blushing. Makes me wanna kiss you more,” she says with a chuckle. The blonde, whose blush reached across her cheeks all the way to the tips of her ears, looked at the flirt.
“I thought I told you to stop being an asshole? Just cause you’re being a flirty asshole doesn’t mean you get a pass.” The blonde’s words were met with another laugh and a hushed ‘sorry, sorry’.
“But I guess I could give a flirty asshole a little kiss,” she says in a playful voice, like a child ‘reluctantly’ indulging themselves with ‘only one or two’ cookies.
“I think I like that idea,” the brunette says leaning over to the blonde. Her hands grabbed the blushing girl’s cheeks and tilted her head up. The brunette leaned down to kiss the blonde with soft gentleness, not wanting to push her luck of a ‘little kiss’. The blonde's eyes closed as she leaned into the brunette's lips, savoring the moment.
The brunette broke off first and quickly placed a flurry of kisses all over the blonde’s face. From light kisses on her closed eyes, to the tip of her nose, to her forehead. The blonde’s whole face was covered in the brunette’s show of love. And in her love’s finally, another peck was set on the blondes lips.
“I thought I said a little kiss..” the blonde muttered, trying to cover her red face as she looked away.
A clock chimed midnight as the affection of two girls flowered and bloomed in a quiet library.
