Sweet Nothings

Summary:

"You kissed me."

"I was drunk," Riven defended weakly, Sky snorted.

"I was not."

Work Text:

"So..." Riven sighed, rubbing a hand over his face, a nervous gesture Sky knew was simply so their eyes wouldn't meet. Riven grimaced, then looked at him, "...That happened."

"That" Sky repeated skeptically, rolling his eyes. He moved on the bed, shoving an arm under his pillow and glaring at Riven firmly. He was not letting Riv no-homo his way out of this one. Riven groaned, rolling on the bed so he could pout and glare at the ceiling.

"What?" he said defensively, "I'm too hangover, leave me alone."

"Nonono," Sky scoffed, "don't even try to blame it on the alcohol, you prick."

Riven's cheeks turned red and Sky felt something terribly smug settle in his chest. He reached in with the hand that was not currently trapped under him, grabbing Riv's chin and forcing their eyes to meet.

"You kissed me."

"I was drunk," Riven defended weakly, Sky snorted.

"I was not."

His best friend squinted at him, "well, you're the type of fella to kiss back just so you won't break my heart. Means nothing."

"You need me to spell it out for you?" Sky rolled his eyes, "you kissed me, I kissed you back, you cuddled me to sleep."

"Humiliating" Riven grumbled, but he was clearly fighting a smile, "I'm not a little spoon type of guy."

"Now you're just straight up lying" Sky grinned at him, "we don't have to talk about that if you don't want to," he conceded, because while Sky had been out — or rather, had never even been in any closet about liking whoever he liked —, he knew Riven was different. Everything was more complicated with him.

"No?" Riven's eyes lit up with boyish naivety, "we'll we... Did I fuck us up for good?"

"No" Sky shook his head, then leaned in and planted his lips over Riven's, grinning as he felt the man squeak in surprise under him, "I can kiss my best friend if I want to."

Riven seemed to melt under him, groaning slightly before he was looping one arm around Sky's neck, "and we don't have to call this anything?"

"Nah" Sky bit at his lip, rolled them on the bed so Riven was on top of him and couldn't help but let out a satisfied smile as he settled against the pillows, his best friend's weight crushing him down the mattress, "it can be whatever we call it. It can be nothing."

Riven bit down his lip, pushed his tongue in his mouth and let his hands roam, "yeah, that sounds nice."
