Work Text:
Toko was in a tough spot
It was almost 3:15 in the morning, and she was awake in front of her computer. she had word open, but she had only typed in the first few sentences of the chapter she was writing for her book. she had good ideas floating around in her head, but she couldn't seem to figure out the best way to put them into words. All she could do was sit and stare at the document, correcting any typos or grammar issues she found in order to feel that she was being productive.
of course, she would rather be in her bed with her wife, sleeping peacefully underneath an electric blanket, but her brain had other plans. plans that involved her staying up and being productive in some way, shape, or form.
"Toko? It's almost 3:15 in the morning, what are you doing awake?" Toko was snapped out of her sleepy haze when her wife, Komaru asked her this. she looked behind her to see Komaru standing in the doorway of Toko's home office.
"aaaghhnuh." was the only sound Toko made as she mashed her face into her keyboard, not caring about the random string of characters that appeared on her word document.
"Writer's block got you down?" Komaru asked. her voice sounded so caring and gentle, and it made Toko's heart melt.
"I know I know! I should be sleeping! It's just that... I have all of these wonderful ideas and visions on what I think should happen in these stories, but I just can't seem to put them into words! every time I try to put my ideas down on paper, the words sound all wrong!" Toko wailed, lifting her head from her keyboard.
"I get it. It must be frustrating to have so many wonderful ideas but be unable to express them in the way you want to."
"It... It is"
"How about this, why don't we go back to bed for a while. there we can snuggle a bit and you can rest up. then, you can go right back to writing in the morning. I'm sure you will have a much easier time writing when your well rested."
"But I-"
"No buts! We are going back to bed, and you are getting a good night's sleep for once!"
"That sounds good. if I stare at my computer for any longer, I'm worried my eyes might burn out of my sockets." Toko said as she deleted the random words and numbers from her word document and followed Komaru back to the warm, inviting bed awaiting her.
Toko and Komaru spent the rest of the night snuggling under the comfort of their electric blanket. there were moments where Toko considered getting up to write more, but she didn't want to leave the comfort of her warm bed, and she didn't really want to get an earful from Komaru about the importance of a good night's sleep.
Needless to say, she had a much easier time writing in the morning.
