callie was curled up on the couch in the living room of the apartment she shared with her cousin- they could definitely afford something better, they just liked having a smaller space (the less space, the less of callies mess for marie to clean up)-,watching some random show on the tv. she would be on her phone like usual, but last week marie had taken her phone like she was some kind of child. all she did was read some stupid articles! and end up yelling and making marie think something actually happened.. but thats besides the point! she was 24, cod damnit, she didn't need her phone taken away! suddenly, she was aware of how coddamn hungry she was. usually she would just order something, but marie had her phone. she groaned and made her way to the fridge, yanking open the freezer with a bit of a struggle. golden eyes scanned the contents of the freezer, landing on some frozen meal. she didn't really care what it was, she was basically starving. she ripped it open and shoved it into the microwave. she stood leaning against the fridge, waiting for the food. eventually the microwave beeped and she pulled it out. it was one of those ones that had to be stirred then put back in, so she tugged open the silverware drawer and pulled out a fork. she hastily stirred it and put it back in, not bothering to remove the fork. she set the timer again and went back to leaning against the fridge.
marie sluggishly made her way towards her and callie's apartment. she was completely exhausted, so she couldnt exactly walk too fast right now. dragging four away from captain was NOT fun. who knew they would try to murder them over eight?- certainly not captain (marie knew). with a groan, she began climbing up the steps. she desperately hoped callie didnt fuck something up again- she was NOT in the mood for cleaning right now. finally, she made it to the floor where her and callies apartment was. she fished in the pocket of her jacket for a moment, before finally pulling out the key.
callie remained standing next to the door. she thought she heard footsteps outside the door, but thought nothing of it. it was probably just some other resident of the apartment building. or a janitor or something along those lines. buuut, they did kinda sound like the familiar clack of her cousins shoes. still, she paid it no mind. the microwave made a noise, and she assumed it was just the food being done. she turned to the microwave and reached to open it. before she could grab it- it fucking exploded in her face. the whole microwave burst- food ruined and fork full-on melted. just then, she heard keys jingling right outside.
marie fiddled with the lock for a moment, struggling to get it open. she then flung open the door with a groan.
"hey, cal, im back.." she half-yelled, setting her parasol next to the door and removing her shoes and putting them next to callies.
"o-oh, uh, hey mar.." callie called back, marie could practically hear the nervous smile she no doubt had right now. her eyes narrowed as she walked towards the kitchen. callie raced to where the kitchen met the living room, almost as if she was trying to block maries view of it. marie was right, she had that nervous smile- the one she had when she fucked something up and didnt want marie to find out. marie squinted at her for a moment before sighing.
"what'd you do this time..?" she sounded absolutely exhausted.
"whaaaaat? what do you mean..? haha.." callie chuckled nervously, desperately hoping marie didnt look at the counter behind her.
"callie." she swallowed nervously- if marie used her actual name she definitely fucked up. that or marie is completely fed up with everything. probably both right now. "we both know damn well im not in the mood for this squit. whatd you break." callie sighed and moved aside, allowing marie to see behind her. "wha- what the actual fuck happened to the microwave??" marie questioned, glaring at her cousin.
"i, um, m-may have forgotten to take a fork out.." she looked down at the floor, embarrassed at her silly mistake.
"i'll order something to eat. but you have to clean that up." marie ordered.
"alright.." callie murmured, still looking at the floor. marie's socks must be really interesting to her. marie walked back to her bedroom, leaving callie to clean up the remains of the microwave and fork.
