Chapter Text

Wednesday hasn’t slept a fulls night sleep since the news broke out. It’s been 3 weeks 4 days and 17 hours. She remembers the night everything went wrong which led to Enid being labeled as missing and also led to Wednesday’s frenzy.

It was about 4:30 am when Wednesday was awoken by a library worker informing her she had to leave the library for cleaning and because it was way over curfew even if it was Friday night. She cursed herself internally realizing the time knowing full well she was about to receive a overbearing lecture from Enid her bright shiny sunny colorful roommate. For the few months the two girls had know each other after being forced together as roommates they had formed a special unique bond though you’ll never get either of them to admit it. Enid was the sun and Wednesday the moon to put it simply.

Enid was a extroverted sunny bright girl who happened to be a werewolf and was never seen without a smile on her face while she wasn’t exactly popular she wasn’t unpopular if that made sense as she was quite amicable. Wednesday was the complete opposite she was a introverted dark cold “emotionless” girl who was always rocking a scowl and threatening anyone who tried her (or Enid). Yet strangely they complimented each other greatly. They’d wake up around the same time and got ready together Enid ranting on and on about seemingly nothing and Wednesday listening intently wondering how a person could be so energetic at such a early time. Then they would walk together to class Wednesday running a list with Enid to make sure the taller of the two wasn’t missing anything the two ran into each other again at lunch and would sit together Enid complaining about how bored she was and Wednesday listening in intense silence. At this time Enid would have her head on Wednesday’s shoulder while the shorter one rested her head against Enid’s which confused everyone because Wednesday would skin anybody else alive who tried this, but it simply didn’t bother Wednesday because how could Enid ever be a bother.

After lunch finished the pair dispersed and headed to their respective classes expecting to see each other again afterwards. That was how they rolled how could today be any different? Wednesday got up and slowly from the dusty old beanbag she was resting on and made way to the dorm rooms she wondered if Enid would still be awake waiting for her which was foolish because anybody with half a brain could tell Wednesday could take care of herself she was a Addams after all.

But Enid was Enid the most stubborn person you could ever come across a werewolf truly. It had happened before, Wednesday would lose track of time and find herself out way after curfew getting home and Enid yelling at her about how worried she was because how could she know Wednesday was okay? Wednesday would become annoyed and shame the other girl for being worried about her because she was a Addams and blah blah blah then becoming sympathetic after seeing how genuinely concerned she was and reassuring Enid with their hands and foreheads together that she had nothing to worry about that Wednesday would always keep herself safe. Very platonic indeed. Wednesday shook herself disgusted at how soft she has become Nevermore was destroying bit by bit but what was even disgusting was how Wednesday didn’t even mind that much.

Wednesday had finally arrived at their dorm room and exhaled loudly closing her eyes dreading what was to come before opening the door. Then nothing silence only the creak of the wood underneath her feet sounded. Phew she thought concluding Enid simply fell asleep she put her bag down and turned the lights on.

God how she wished she had never done that. How she wished she had done everything different that day she curses herself for not knowing what was going to happen. Nobody could comfort her and tell her that Wednesday could’ve never predicted Enid’s fate no one’s words mattered. Because they weren’t Enid’s.

She turned on the light and turned back. A horror awaited her. A pool of blood was on the floor and splattered everywhere some things where disheveled and it looked like a mess. There was some gray things on the floor and a phone and watch on the floor all coated in blood. Wednesday composed herself before submitting to panic she thought it might be a cruel prank by Enid to try to punish Wednesday for staying out late.

“Enid!” Wednesday shouted.

No response.

“Enid whatever nonsensical stunt this is I demand you stop it this instant!”

Nothing.

“Enid I’m sorry for being out late I must’ve overslept there I said it! Happy?” Wednesday said hoping Enid would pop out somewhere pouting hesitantly accepting the apology anything.

“E…Enid?” Wednesday croaked out her voice smaller by the minute.

It was a wonder how silence could be so deafening. Wednesday heard something coming from her side of the room. It was a banging rustling sound from her dresser like something was trapped helplessly inside it.

Quickly she rushed over while making sure not to disturb the scene the sounds only grew louder Wednesday in a haste motion ripped open the cabinet releasing whatever was inside. It was Thing who somehow looked distraught and confused and tried signing at Wednesday but to no avail the hand was far too hyperactive.

“Thing calm down tell me what the hell happened!” Wednesday asked while holding Thing desperate for answers.

Wednesday could only make out a few words.

Someone. Enid. Fight. Took. Hid. Loud Noises. Screams. Help.

Enid

Wednesday knew there was no time to waste but had no idea what to do. She decided to dash over to Ms.Thornhill their dorm mothers quarters praying that she would somehow now what to do.

In less than five minutes she found herself banging on Ms.Thornhill’s door not caring for unnecessary pleasantries the only thing that mattered was getting someone’s help. Ms.Thornhill answered the door only to find a very distraught Addams

“Hey, Hey calm down what’s wrong has something happened?” She asked completely unaware.

She wasn’t given a verbal answer instead she found herself getting viciously dragged along the hallways of Nevermore she tried to get answers from the girl but was met with even more pulling and incoherent mumbling.

After a while they had finally arrived at the front of the girls shared dorm room once Wednesday had realized where they were she stopped to try to talk to Ms.Thornhill.

“Wednesday! Can you please tell me what’s happened?”

“Listen you have to call for help immediately something’s happened to Enid I was out and seemed to have overslept now shes gone the rooms a mess Things panicking an-“

Wednesday didn’t realize it but she was rambling on making less sense by the second before the older woman stopped her by putting her hands on Wednesday’s shoulders.

“Okay I hear you, but before we do anything you got to calm down we don’t know if Enid’s hurt or where Enid is the police cannot do anything if your not calm.” She said in a attempt to calm the very visibly distraught teen in-front of her.

Calm Down!? Was this woman blind or deaf? No that would be an insult to the blind and deaf alike. How could she not see the gravity of the situation Enid for god sakes was gone was she the only one who saw this as a issue?!

Wednesday could tell she wasn’t getting anywhere so she shoved the woman inside so she could see for herself what she was on about.

The screams of horror confirmed she got the message.

In a matter of seconds the noises of sirens, police chatter, and radios engulfed Ophelia Hall. The commotion summoned everybody from their rooms well the ones it wasn’t a while until everybody had caught wind of what happened. The rumors spread even faster.

The police of Jericho had taped off the “crime scene” including the hall from everyone (Wednesday included). Wednesday was driven with Principal Weems by her side in a patrol car to the police station to give a statement.

Wednesday’s brain wasn’t processing anything at that point her mind plagued with horrid thoughts of what could’ve happened or what she could have done to prevent it. One specific question infected her brain like no other mostly because it didn’t have an answer.

Oh my dear Enid where have you gone too now, and why aren’t I with you?
