Chapter Text

Enid's colorful side has never been more painful in Wednesday's eyes. The burst of colors worsened her headache. She released a huff of annoyance and walked toward her side of the room.

"You okay, Willa?" there was a lace of concern in Enid's voice. Wednesday paused and cleared her throat. Her palate feels hot and every breath she takes feels warm. Everything is uncomfortably warm.

"I prefer to be in pain." The roughness of her voice did not get unnoticed although Enid did not point it out.

The taller hummed and goes back to her phone, scrolling through TikTok. The repetitive noise added to the list of Wednesday's annoyances. She tried to brush it off, she cannot keep on making Enid stop everything she was doing. As much as she hates to admit it, she's never been a considerate person until she slowly became one to her frie- roommate.

Wednesday washed and changed into her monochrome clothes.

"Isn't it your writing time?" Enid asks, her phone still in her hands.

"It appears I am experiencing writer's blo-" she released a series of coughs and she winced at how it temporarily became harder to breathe. Perhaps she was too focused on catching her breath that she failed to notice that Enid is already beside her while gently caressing her back.

"You're sick." Enid's tone is serious and concerned. Wednesday did not argue she did not feel like it, speaking feels like worsening everything that she's feeling.

Enid helped her adjust to the bed and left for a while. She returned with what Wednesday assumed was medicine.

"I agree that it is the perfect time to ambush me. However, poisoning me in my weakened state is not fair. If ever you won, you won not because you're stronger than me, but rather because you took advantage of the current situation. I guess that's a smart tactic as well." For someone that despises speaking with a dry and hurting throat, she gave a pretty decent speech.

Enid remained unfazed. "Whatever Wednesday, just take this already."

Wednesday swallowed the medicine and blinked. "Maybe we should contact my family. I don't think a regular medicine if ever it is, will help me heal. My family has a poison for a specific illness."

Enid chuckled and shook her head in disapproval. "I'll take care of you, Willa. It's better than any other medicine, I promise." Wednesday blinked again and finally laid down. Enid took it as a yes and proudly smiled.

She prepared a bucket and a towel. Crouching down next to the bed and gently damping the cold towel to Wednesday's burning skin. Wednesday flinch slightly at the temperature but soon got used to it.

"Enid." Enid didn't stop her actions and hummed in reply.

"You can't do this the whole night."

"Why can't I?"

"You have to rest." Enid's grin grew wider. "Willa, you've totally gone soft."

Wednesday glared at her and she chuckled again. (It was so comforting for Wednesday's ears)

"I do not want to hear you whining for the whole day tomorrow, I may perhaps change my mind and decided to actually end you if that happened."

"Uh-huh."

"You're not taking me seriously, Enid."

"No, I do," She said defensively but with a smile on her face.

Wednesday and her empty threats.

"How about you stop talking and then go to sleep? Don't worry about me, Willa. I'll make sure to rest."

Wednesday turned her face looking for sincerity. Once she's finally convinced she has fallen into a slumber.

--

Wednesday woke up with a harsh cough, her throat feels so sore, her skin was warmer, and her head feels as if it is being hammered, she did not expect to be so sick.

Then she felt it again, the gentle caress on her back. She turned her head and find enid on her side. Did she sleep beside her?

"Get out of my bed."

"Don't be stubborn, Willa. I have to be beside you to keep your temperature on track."

"I don't care. You will get sick too."

"Oh."

Wednesday looked confused by her sudden smile.

"Willa is softer when she's sick" she teased and cooed Wednesday who looked at her disgustedly.

Enid scrunched her nose and patted the bed before telling her to wait. She goes out again and then comes back with the new set of medicine, again if that's whatever she's actually feeding her.

Enid's alarm took their attention. "Just the right time," Enid muttered and turned it off.

"Here's your 'poison', Willa"

Wednesday took it and immediately laid down to bed. Enid blinked in surprise, so that's how you make Wednesday Addams take medicine in an instance she mentally noted.

She walks towards the side of her bed to lay the tray. Good thing the infirmary is open 24/7.

"Enid," Wednesday softly called. Enid turned to her and waited for her to continue.

"Can you..." Wednesday blinks.

"Nothing." Wednesday went under the covers and turned her back. She covers her mouth as she coughs again. It made Enid frown.

She walks back to the opposite side and lightly patted the smaller's back. Enid slid under the covers and Wednesday audibly groaned.

"I told you to stay away, pup."

Enid's eyes grew. Completely bewildered by the nickname she heard. She squealed and hugged Wednesday from the back. Kicking her feet enthusiastically.

"Can you call me that again? It is so cuteee,"

"Enid," Wednesday groaned and she finally behaved herself, remembering the latter is still very sick.

"You want me to stay away yet you're holding my hand that's hugging your waist?" Enid snuggled her head in the crook of Wednesday's neck.

"You're insufferable..." Wednesday sighs.

It didn't take a long time before Wednesday's breathing became long and steady. Enid pulled away earning a sleepy protest.

She turned Wednesday to face her, grabbing the cooling pad on her jacket and putting it on Wednesday's forehead. She knows Wednesday will find it silly and will refuse to wear it consciously.

She wraps her arms around the smaller one and set her alarm for the next schedule of the sick girl's medicine.

What did Addams even do for her to get sick?

--

She gently shook Wednesday's shoulder.

"Hey, take this first then you can go back to sleep," Enid brushes her bangs to remove the cooling pad and replaced it with a new one.

"Pup..."

Enid smiled as she heard it. She hums as she watches Wednesday force her eyes to open. Her temperature was lower and fortunately, it didn't strike up again.

"I'm here, Willa. Come on now hmm? Take this first and we'll snuggle under your blankets again."

She whispered a low "okay" and Enid helped her raise her head and chug down just the right amount of water.

Enid decided to put the tray on Wednesday's table first. Settling herself with the space Wednesday left for her. Perhaps it was the fever's effect turning Wednesday deliriously sweet and kind. Whatever it is, enid finds it absolutely endearing seeing how Wednesday finds her comfortable.

"I'm sorry, pup. I'll repay you after this."

"No, no, no. It's okay." she finds her arms enveloping Wednesday. She doesn't know when will this opportunity come again. The girl is obviously slightly delirious with her sickness that she's allowing Enid to have unlimited cuddles.

"But I have something I want in return,"

Wednesday looks up at her in question. Enid will totally cross the boundary if she were to pinch Wednesday's cheeks wouldn't she?

"Well, I want you to continue calling me that"

Wednesday blinks before lowly grumbling.

"Not always."

Enid smiled and Wednesday pulled her closer.

"Yeah, okay. I'll settle for that."
