On a Date

Summary:

Imagine going to date with Sly Cooper.

Work Text:

When Sly had met you during a job, he didn’t think that you two would go on a date next week - something just had sparked in between you and things just slid to the point where Sly asked you if you wanted to grab some food and go to sit in the park. And there you were, in a dimly lit park after sunset - you were smiling at him while you talked about your job and life - about your friends and family. About how you thought about things that had been going on last few months. Sly bit his lip, knowing he had to tell something about himself to you as well - but he didn’t want to lie. But he couldn’t just blurt it out to you that he’s a Cooper - from a famous Cooper Clan, and that he was one of the most wanted in Interpol. What if you would get scared that he was going to fraud you too? Honesty would be a good sign from him - but sometimes honesty can also lead to bad things in his case.

So when you said, “well, enough about me… do you want to tell something about yourself?” Sly didn’t know what to answer.

So he just sighed and said, “some things about me are… sensitive. So I’d like to talk about those topics at another time, if that’s okay?”

You raised your eyebrows a bit, but shot him a smile after that. “Of course, we all have things we don’t want to talk about right away… as long as you can tell something about yourself.”

Sly smiled in return. “Well, my favorite color is blue. I have two best friends who have been with me since I was little…” he took a bite from his sandwich and seemed thoughtful for a moment, before he continued, “My work includes a lot of traveling. I’ve been visiting in France, Canada, the United States, Japan, India, Australia, China, Italy, Netherlands…”

You listened to him telling of a tiny slice about his life, and though you wanted to ask questions, you respected Sly’s wordless wish and held your questions back. He would tell about himself more openly if he someday trusted you enough - and you were willing to accept it.
