Chapter Text
Wakanda
“Ah, so there he is: the man who likes to talk.” M’Baku grinned as Ross was led into the throne room by his rescuers.
“Very funny. Lord M’Baku.” Ross nodded. “Or is it ‘King’ now?”
“Eh.” Said ‘King’ shrugged. “Kind of. At least until the Black Panther returns.”
“The Black Panther?”
Okoye grinned. “The Princess.”
“Shuri? She’s the new Black Panther? And wait, she’s not here? Where is she?”
“She’s in Haiti, visiting Nakia.”
“Haiti?! For how long?!”
“She needs time to mourn her losses, Ross,” Okoye told him. “We all do.”
His tone softened and became less panicked. “I know, and I understand that, but we might not have time for that - war is coming.”
“War is coming…”
Ross’s words loomed in Okoye’s mind as she made her way home. It seemed to be just one threat after the next for them.
As she approached her home in the Border Tribe lands, Okoye could see the outline of her eldest daughter, Imani, in the distance, swinging an old broom like it was a spear, outside their house. Her movements were graceful and trained.
Okoye smiled and called, “I shall tell General Ayo that there is a new Dora on the horizon.”
“Mama!” The thirteen-year-old threw down the broom and rushed to greet her mother, all while calling for her sister. “Mina, Mama’s home!”
“Mama! You’re back!” Her youngest, Amina, came flying out of the house and also into her mother’s arms. “Did you save the world again?!”
Okoye chuckled. “Yes, I suppose we did. Well, that was before, this time I was just saving a White man who got himself into trouble again.” The three shared a chuckle.
“Mama, now that you’re home, can we go visit Baba again?” Amina asked.
“Of course, child, of course we can.”
Haiti
Far away in Haiti, Shuri was playing on the beach with her nephew when her Kimoyo bracelet began to chime with the notification of an incoming call.
“ Panther ,” Okoye greeted her when she answered. “I apologize, I know you have only been in Haiti less than a week, but we have a pressing situation here at home.”
“What is it?”
“Agent Ross was arrested.”
“What?” Shuri gasped. “By who?”
“His own government, for giving us the information he did about Ms. Williams. We have freed him and brought him to Wakanda, however, he’s telling us about a new threat on the horizon. I hate to say it, but-”
“I’m coming home,” Shuri announced, taking the words out of Okoye’s mouth. “And I’ll bring Nakia with me.”
Talokan
Deep within the depths of the ocean, in Talokan’s Capital City, Attuma of Talokan stood in the medical wing, observing his reflection,
His fingertips grazed over the scrape the warrior woman’s spear had made across his cheek, in almost exactly the same spot it had the first time they had fought.
Instead of wincing, he smiled. The warrior, the only foe to have bested him - twice.
Yes, he felt that she had won their first fight, by using the trick of her bracelet and spear, before Namora had intervened and he had helped her blast the Wakandan woman off the bridge.
That had been mere days ago when they were fighting against each other as enemies, and now their nations were allies.
Who knew what this new alliance would bring?
