"Come, I have to show you."
Baian grasped the Scylla General's arm in a hurried excitement, which is unfamiliar to his cool, arrogant demeanour Baian flaunts to annoy everyone. Not to Io. Sharing the same ocean of the same colour of blue without any sorrow is a secret to how they became one eventually, even then, it is a secret shared only with them.
An arm grab took Io back in a memory he can’t forget. Deep in the Mariana Trenches of the darkness hidden them from others, darkness, they can't see each other's fears, mourning of their friendship before their lips met of longing and their truth changing. Io first to break and turned away slowly, Baian grabbed Io's arm to stop him and put his hand on his cheek to turn where Baian's head was.
Io's blood feistiness frizzled, frozen in place, the friendship didn't collapse rather tension in his stomach dropped when Baian kissed him again, this time gentle and short. Io surprised him with an embrace of arms around Baian's shoulder blades and both stayed like this in dark waters. Days of them floating where they saw their faces for the first time on the light blue surface.
Io felt his body still walking until Baian let go of his arm and Scylla fully awakened from his memory to a huge room where the Seahorse general kept a huge tank of seahorses.
Io got a flick on his forehead and he ended up rubbing it out of surprise, annoyed.
"Bud, you didn't say much coming in, tell me what is in your pretty head."
Io rolled his eyes before smirking, he will show him, placing both of his hands on Baian's face, making a hollow catching sound, and kissing him deeply to give his hidden desire away which he couldn't do in the deep waters. Baian bit his Scylla's soft bottom lip and put his hand on Io's shoulder. Io opens his mouth slowly and Baian's tongue slips in to explore Io. Both tongues met in a panic, the lack of space, going too fast that both Io and Baian separated and glanced to the ground with blushes teasing their ears.
Without a word, they understood the tongue was a bit too much for now.
"So, anyway, one of the seahorses had given birth to fifty babies and I need your help to name the last ten of them."
Io glanced at them, with a pale face where he remember Jasha's birds and bees talk along with his terrible diagrams. They look like Jasha's poorly drawn sperms, muy feo , yet he managed not to say anything to hurt Baian's babies. That would hurt the general more who got better at understanding Spanish.
"No problem, how many girls, boys?"
"All boys. Spanish names are fine."
Io got relieved and remembered some of his relatives' names before he left them, "So that one is Salvador-"
"Oh nothing strong in meaning, they are not warriors after all."
"For peace that is possible, there is plenty, there is Felipe, Lazaro, Miguel-"
"Not Miguel, I already named one as Michael. Can't have them have the same names."
Io tries to think of the rare names that the equivalent to English was lesser known, he got a chair to sit down knowing it might take some time to give the seahorses' babies some names.
"So definitely not Juan."
Baian pointed at the little seahorse poking his head against the tank, "That's John."
So far, Baian rejected most names but is not too stubborn to have nothing. Seven names had been Alvaro, Javier, Andres, Raul, Jaoquin, Mateo and Esteban.
"Fabian is another name I like to give."
"Is that same as Fabio?"
"Perhaps, but it is the only one I know I love to genuinely give if I have kids one day, it's after my papa."
"Fabian is a good name, let's keep that."
"Yeah, he was...two more to go?"
"Yeah, two left, there is a Spanish name I really give."
Io hummed.
"Ramiro and Fermin for the rascal."
