Chapter Text
Working at the Museum front desk was a regular daily task for Fin. She would check people in, make sure everything was expected with the guests, and generally people-watch. She enjoyed having a calm job. Of course, things can go slightly off the rails with a random visit from the other emperors, especially the ones with an interest in thieving certain collectables from the museum such as Pirate Joe. (Then again, he is a pirate, so Fin really isn't that surprised.)
Fin’s boss Pix will show up from time to time just to check on her, but usually not more than a short conversation before he can get back to his essential job of running the empire of the Ancient Capital. And rebuilding the ruins of course.
Something was rarely wrong at the Ancient Capital Museum, however, recently someone had broken in and stolen the precious deep slate emerald ore, something that happens to be the rarest ore across the entire multiverse. And low and behold speaking of the multiverse, Fin spots Pix headed in her direction with someone she’d never seen before. She assumes that this person is one of the Hermits that had arrived through that strange rift thing that had appeared. Fin had only really seen the rift during The Rift Festival that was hosted by his Bardness, Oli OrionSound.
“Good evening Fin” Pix greeted her as he,
with the Hermit following closely behind him strolled over to the desk she was sitting at.
“Evening sir. Who is this?” Fin inquired as she nodded to the Hermit following behind Pix.
“Oh yes, I forgot you don’t really go outside much” Pix replied.
“I mean that is accurate but still uncalled for…” Fin muttered under her breath.
“Haha, I'm just messing with you” Pix chuckled at Fin’s response. “But yes. This is one of the Hermits. I’d like you to meet our new security guard for the Ancient Capital Museum, Joe Hills” Pix gestured towards the guy Fin now knew as Joe Hills.
“Howdy miss! A pleasure to meet you! I’m Joe Hills from Nashville Tenessee!” Joe held out his hand to Fin enthusiastically. Fin smiles and reaches her hand to shake Joe’s outstretched hand.
"It's good to meet you as well!" Fin taps her index and middle finger against Joe's palm before letting go of his hand. Joe looks at her slightly confused.
"Sorry if this sounds rude, but is there any specific reason for that?" Joe asks.
"Oh sorry! That's something I grew up doing so I tap someone's palm in a handshake. I'm sorry if it made you uncomfortable!" Fin explains quickly.
Joe chuckles.
"Nah you're good. It's just new to me, that's all!" Joe grins as he sees Fin's sigh of relief.
"Oh thank Prime. I just get worried about reactions to my slightly off-putting things. Not everyone reacts well, mind you. And if they don't, well, no more museum for you!" Fin giggles and Joe laughs along with her only before Pix interrupts them.
"Well, I'm glad you two can get to know each other now since Joe will be helping here until the Hermits are able to go home. If you two would like to follow me upstairs so I can explain exactly what is going on, I can do that."
Fin nods, only before responding "Let me finish closing up, and I'll be right there." Pix and Joe nod, ascending the ladder to the second floor leaving Fin to finish closing up the museum for the night and then climb the ladder herself.
